You are right, but to lose their magnetic field they have to reach much more higher temperatures, but it won't here because it is not on direct contact with the flame, and the flame temperature doesn't reach further than 300⁰C ( so far is still holding well)
Np (: it is sure an unusual design, not the best I must admit, the magnet tends to squash the wick and sometimes you have to unfold it with you fingers in order to light up, so still room for improvement but you have to start somewhere 😜
NIce jub, but isn't the 308. a bit small for this? I made one from a 338. norma magnum a while back and even that feels a bit inadequate, since i have to refill it every couple of weeks or so.
That's right it was quite small, about the same size of the small Bic lighter. Definitely not very comfortable, expecially for my big hands, and doesn't hold fuel as much as a proper zippo, but for the moment it was the only cartridge i had laying around, so i gave it a try anyway. Ps. Possibly the best cartridge to make a lighter of could be a .50 cal or even a 12 gauge, should give it a try whenever i'll find one
Kinda like a normal zippo, the base is made out of solid steel, so it gets some time to get hot enough to burn you. Never tested enough to say exactly tho
He also uses the finger from a rubber glove.... Its a real mess. Melts and stinks to high heaven!! What a dummy he is, right!? Too bad he ain't as smart as you.
Primers are not in bullets. The bullet is specifically the projectile. The entire unit of bullet, powder, case, and primer is a cartridge. I doubt you could make a working lighter with a live primer still in the case and even if you could that would be rather dangerous.
been in engineering all my 73 years, first time I have seen a drill used as a lathe, neat
Nice job dude. I used 2 Remington 7mm to make my lighter. And I used 90 proof vodka mixed with charcoal lighter fluid for fuel
at 13 seconds that is a very clever way to lathe something im impressed end result is very clever
Magnets lose their strength when subjected to heat, learned that the hard way. I wonder how it held up.

@@matsudaindustries2530 cool.

Smart idea using a magnet for a good latch
Great, but I am sure they didn't have all that equipment in the trench with them.

Like a zippo every time you need it it’s empty
@@matsudaindustries2530 can I buy one please
This is cool but how long can you use it before it's too hot to touch?

May I answer?
Between 2-3 minutes for me
Juat remember it needs to be cotton shoelace. Plastic shoelace just melts

His poor wife... No shoelaces or perfume!
Is removing the primer from the bullet optional?

4 people dislike this vids? why???????
Why bother making a new bullet from stock over just getting a .308 bullet?
do a 50 cal lol
buddy wasn't smart enough just to load a regular casing with no primer and no powder
