Sohum, your down to earth and emotional reactions to The Warning music make the beauty of these girls even better. This song always bring a tear to my eyes. Keep down the hole!
You really, Really, REALLY need to react to the entire Lunario concert where they debut their Queen Of The Murder Scene concept album. You've already heard a few of the songs, Dust to Dust (1st song), Ugh, and the last song, The End (Stars Always Seem To Fade). Now you have to listen to the complete story. So dark and gritty and haunting. You will not regret it.
This song is a perfect ending for the concept album QotMS. The queen is dying in her bed with no remorse, because she did it for love. The album is a masterpiece written by teens, Ale was 13. As always, good reaction Sohum
The brilliant Queen of the Murder Scene concept album starts with Pau on lead vocals, Dust to Dust and ends the same way with The End. This performance in Nov 2018 was the premier show as the album was released.
Few people has noticed that the very last vocal note was made by Dany and not Pau. They switch vocals so fluidly that is almost not fair. And right there is my fav solo by Dany. This song is so emotional and the perfect end for that fantastic album.
This specific Lunario video hits harder every time I watch and hear it. It's amazing that these (then) kids pulled this off. Yes, Pau's vocals tug at the tears and win a flood of them. She has a perfect voice for ballads. That vibrato and clarity and available grit work perfectly in songs like this. Dany is the in-your-face rock star (see Hell You Call a Dream for comparison). And yet Pau does the screams and "Greedy Little F--ckers" lines in their louder songs... These ladies are amazing. They rock with taste.
Love Dany’s Clapton-esque solo in this, and how her wail at the end of this last song on QOTMS, mirrors her wail at the end of Dust to Dust which begins the album. And Pau is just awesome when it comes to emotional ballads. 😎👍
The amount of chills I get from this song every single time is just insane. Specially Dany's guitar, it's so soulful and beautiful. Crazy to think two teenagers and a 12 year old could write something like this.🤯
Dany's lead work on The End is SO tasteful. There's nothing particularly fancy or shreddy about it, but it's exactly what the song needed. She's definitely showing her David Gilmour influence on this one, IMHO.
This song always brings on the tears, the tragic end to the masterful tale that is the album _Queen of the Murder Scene._ The latter was part of a very special evening we got to spend with Pau in the fading sunlight.
Thank you Sohum, still one of my favorite songs from QOTMS spectacular concept Album. Just beautifully written and beautifully performed by these master class artists. Cheers.
Another Pau spotlight song is Revenant. Live at Teatro Metropolitan. It’s acoustic with a guest guitarist playing a bajo quinto. A ten string Mexican bass. Primarily used in folk music. This song is rarely played live because of the need for a second guitarist. But this performance is just a thing of beauty. Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/oqXcNOVmcjc/v-deo.htmlsi=Q5mLi0v4gMdcID9l
The End is the final track of QOTMS, and it is a brilliant way to close the album. For one, as Dany once joked, the lyrics "start again" remind you to just replay the whole album from the start right away. But more seriously, ending on Dany's guitar holding on a melancholic, unresolved tone fits the ending of the story perfectly. And, this final track in many ways mirrors the first track -- Pau on lead vocals, a belted wail from Dany at the end of the song, and the language in the lyrics: "Dust to dust, our bones will rust, And we shall start again" versus "Stars always seem to fade, It's a little too late to start again".
When I saw the Lunario version of The End as one of the first handful of songs, I didn’t realize it was the final song in a full storyline. The protagonist realizing it’s over and taking her own life, but not admitting any wrongdoing. It brought tears everytime. Covering the album song by song is a worthy quest. Dany’s forlorn solo stops me in my tracks every time. I wish it was longer. Thanks for the reaction.
Lunario is a small theatre, seating between 500 and 1,200 in the Auditorio Nacional complex. The three Feb 2025 shows, two of which are sold out, will be in the big room, which seats 10,000.
I think it will be a special feeling for them when they get there and remember that Lunario concert and now they will be performing next door at that 10,000 seat venue and on top of that a very important venue were many famous artists have performed.
Every time I think I like a Warning song more than this one, I come back to this performance and realize more and more that I don't think anything even comes close to this song for me. It's a perfect blend of everything I love about this band.
I am gob smacked every time I hear or watch the Lunario performance, but I have no words for the stunning piano solo (this is my first time seeing it). Pau's ability to project such heartfelt emotion is unequaled. Her smile can melt the coldest heart and her voice cannot be of this Earth. In my mind, her singing is the sound of an angel and always makes me catch my breath. Thank you so much for this reaction and excellent analysis!
On the Disney Princess take, I have another... The entire QOTMS album is so theatrical, it would make a kick butt musical. You heard it here first... if they continue to blow up (they will), QOTMS will be the musical tribute to their early years, even if it is about a bi-polar young teen that goes on a killing spree.
My suggestion to you Sohum is to take some time, que up the QOTMS album or Lunario, find a comfortable chair, turn out the lights, close your eyes and listen to this entire masterpiece all the way through. If this hits you wait until you experience the whole journey.
“This is the End, so long my friends” is such a great line. The end of the Queen’s life, the end of the album, the end of The Warning’s independent LP releases, etc. They are really good lyricists. 🤟🏼🎸🥁🎸🤟🏼
Yeah, The Warning are GREAT! Pau, well Pau is a very special young lady! No entertainer, artist, singer, has had an emotional impact on me like her! 63 yrs old, learning about myself from a 22 year old young Mexican Legend to be! Rock on, young lady's! Viva La Raza, DPA The Warning 🤘⚡🫶
You should, on your own time, listen to the entire “Queen Of The Murder Scene” album from start to finish. It’s a concept album, and a great one, which should be heard as a single experience. I feel so strongly about that, and it irks me if/when reactors are asked to do individual songs from that album, completely out of context. Sure they’re still great songs… but still are better in the context of the whole story.
Technically just Pau and the piano is the start of the song. Dany, Pau and Ale take the bit of the song that Pau has (she starts it on the piano) and "Warningfy" it...finishing and changing the music and lyrics to come up with the finished version of the song we know. And they are soooo good at it that none of their songs are skippable when you play an album of theirs!
The entire Lunario CDMX concert is just beautiful, full of emotion and a deep story, their skill, passion and talent on full display. The song The End is perfect for the ending of the album and it tells you to go back and start again, which I have done many times. Every song on this album is outstanding in both composition and performance. Pau is just so good at making you feel emotions.
Pink Floyd's David Gilmour is one of the two main and major guitar influences of Dany's. (Muse's Matt Bellamy is the other.) Gilmour for his approach to soloing. Matt Bellamy for his riff writing. You can definitely hear Gilmour's influence for this song's solo; it's got him written all over it! It may be brief and simple, but it's incredibly, beautifully melodic, and the pure, fitting 'somber' emotion Dany captured in it is breathtaking and astounding! I believe that, other than her "Show Me The Light" solo, this one is one of the shortest that she's ever created. I highly recommend checking out "Show Me The Light" live at Dakota Bar. It's another ballad-type song featuring Pau on piano and lead vocals, which you'll most likely really love as well. Take care and God bless!
This is my favourite The Warning song. I think that everybody can fit in this part of the lyrics: They'll never know 'Cause I'll never say Anything about the memories that live inside my head They stay with me They don't go away They haunt me every night while I'm lying in my bed
There's a lot of unexplained context to this song, - these two videos. As I'm sure you know, this song is the denouement of the masterfully written concept album. Bummer- doesn't look like you'll be reacting to this veritable masterpiece of a story in order (via the Lunario CDMX) concert. The Pau solo performance is from a fun (3 song PAU DAY 'live') that she shared with us. The lighting she used in that 'live' was very interesting and very emotive, luv it. ✌️💙🤘
This piece, from the first time I heard it, seemed to me the best way to close, epically, the album that in my opinion is their best. Dany's guitar here is my favorite guitar. The sensations produced by this same song are very different, because only Pau with her piano makes you want to cry. Great reaction Sohum, thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️ .
One of the most beautifully written songs from our ladies of The Warning. It can't be said enough how much power, how much emotion that Pau brings to this. And you are absolutely spot on with your comment about sounding like a Disney Princess - I have said this many times myself. But nothing is to be taken away from their beautiful harmonies, and Ale's bass is wonderful. And then Dany's guitar work - it all makes this a wonderful song that I wish they would do again.
FYI, Dany has a clear, pristine voice.. when she wants to! There are some "bedroom" recordings of her doing her Dany Day live streams that show this off.
"The Warning always seems to raise.... The Bar....woo-ooo-ooo---woo---ooo-oo There's no place too high woo-ooo-ooh Lets see them fly-ee-eye-ee-eye-ee-eye-ee-Aye...."
Oof... I wasn't ready for this but needed it. The harmonies in the first and Pau on the Piano in the 2nd, instantly gave me chills and cause my eyes to well up. Thanks for another great reaction, Sohum
I have been playing QOTMS a lot lately end to end and this is the perfect song for the ending it's not one of the most popular songs but it really smacks the whole album doe's when you listen to it in order
Beautiful song, enjoyed your comments. All of their music is so well crafted that I'm hoping for some videos of them in the studio creating a song together. Another Pau cover you will enjoy is just her and a piano singing "Creep"
I'm making a dumb point but I'm pedantic so; Disney Princesses do not sing like that. That is a complicated anti-hero, if not straight up villain. The villain you fall in love with because obviously. But this voice doesn't evoke thoughts of "finding my prince" or wedding bells or happy endings. I really hope Pau is happier than her song writing implies.
I guess she's now when she knows herself better, she was diagnosed with ADHD not long ago, she takes medicine and visits her psychologist regularly now. I guess she went through some dark alleys when she was younger and undiagnosed.
@sergioperez2594 that makes sense. I think most late diagnosed neurodivergent people wander some dark paths due to added criticism for "doing things wrong" and a pervasive feeling of being different or wrong without understanding why. I'm glad she is finding some answers and accommodating herself and hope she feels better.
Black holes and The End where written quite near each other. The End is the last song on Queen of the murder scene. And it is very beautiful a perfect ending to a fantastic album.
I really like The warning and their sound and I'm going to see them in the UK this summer. The only thing That I can't get over is the fact that they write very few of their own songs- 2 out of 12 on the Keep Me Fed album. They have a lot of outside co-writers and even other musicians and singers on the album.
Imagine their living room with the countless hours of Pau creating the bases of all TW songs. People want more Pau, but really TW know where and when to use here best. Well, Ale has the final word on the songs.
This is not a song request, just go listen to this one. My gift to you as a Pau fanboy. The Warning LIVE on WMMR Philadelphia - Money (Acoustic) & Interview Song starts at the 8 minute mark, just in case you have heard too many The Warning interviews. Lol.
100% yes. Only caveat being…. Wait till you hear Dany’s Disney Princess performances. Or better yet, Dany’s Disney Villain performances. This is neither but I leave it as an aperitif:
Great reaction, but you're doing yourself such a disservice! Queen of the Murder Scene is a whole story, so it's like reading a book out of order! You gotta do the whole album in order. It's an absolute masterpiece!! Your reactions are fantastic though.
Sohum, your down to earth and emotional reactions to The Warning music make the beauty of these girls even better. This song always bring a tear to my eyes. Keep down the hole!
you got it ;)
Ale's harmony @ 3:42 is straight up perfection. So subtle yet so much passion in that one little moment.
My favorite part of the song along with Dany's solo
Hearing such a young voice sing about the despair and regret of someone at the end of a life of tragedy and suffering just hits different.
One of my 60 favorite The Warning songs.🤘
The level of song writing The Warning have, especially this early in their career, is amazing!
You really, Really, REALLY need to react to the entire Lunario concert where they debut their Queen Of The Murder Scene concept album. Queen of the Murder Scene is a masterful album, you really should listen to it start to finish to get the full story,
100%

Pau’s solo performance was done live on Instagram in front of thousands fans. She still had nowhere to hide. Lol. A Happy Pau Day, it was.
Thank you Sohum, still one of my favorite songs from QOTMS spectacular concept Album. Just beautifully written and beautifully performed by these master class artists. Cheers.
Most welcome!
The twinkle in your eye when you said "Is that Pau?" Always such good DPA reviews. You get it.

Everybody knows the guitar that gently weeps, but Dany makes her guitar wail like a young widow at her man's funeral... 😢😢

All three are sold out.
That's how Pau composes the songs, her home piano then Ale and Dani come in and Rock it out.
I think it will be a special feeling for them when they get there and remember that Lunario concert and now they will be performing next door at that 10,000 seat venue and on top of that a very important venue were many famous artists have performed.
I checked several days ago and no tickets were available for the 3rd Auditorio show.
Not sure if it's sold out, or just a software issue.
Nothing like starting my day with a heartfelt cry. Thank you for this wonderful reaction.
The Disney Princess who is a cold blooded killer. 😉
Pau on the family out of tune piano is always amazing!
❤️⚡🤘
Did you notice Ale plays a major bass riff while walking back to her side of the stage ????? ❤ ⚡️TWA⚡️
Every time I think I like a Warning song more than this one, I come back to this performance and realize more and more that I don't think anything even comes close to this song for me. It's a perfect blend of everything I love about this band.

Pau slaying it, Ale’s beautiful harmony, and Dany’s gorgeous solo. This song is too much. 😢
Linda Ronstadt often ended her concerts singing Desperados. Maybe later in their career they will do the same with Stars all seem to fade
I too sometimes think pau sounds like a Disney princess. its cool to hear someone else say the same thing!
Yeah, The Warning are GREAT! Pau, well Pau is a very special young lady! No entertainer, artist, singer, has had an emotional impact on me like her! 63 yrs old, learning about myself from a 22 year old young Mexican Legend to be! Rock on, young lady's!

great ending to a great album also Dani's solos are like a gourmet steak meaty and full of flavor and The Warning's songs are uniquely familiar.
Beautiful guitar work from Dani in this song.❤

I fall in love again with The Warning each and every day…
The birthplace of many of The Warning songs. Also, in that light I am reminded of the Mona Lisa. That whole Pau Day performance was special.
If Martirio isn't the natural closer, then it's this one. Hope they surprise us in Feb!

I love both versions…but I must admit that watching/hearing Dany channeling her inner David Gilmour is mesmerizing for me…
She’s so damn good

One of my very favorites ❤❤❤
One of my favorite songs from The Warning and a fantastic ending to the tragic story of the queen. Thanks Sohum.
Awesome react !!! Dany and Pau have such a "haunting" vibrato in their voices.... It's incredible !!!
I’ve said for a long time I could see Pau doing musical theatre at some point. Great reaction and comments
thank you,, hadn't heard in a while and BOTH melted my heart.
I've been listening the crap outta QotMS. Perfect ending to a truly spectacular masterpiece of a record.
I have been playing QOTMS a lot lately end to end and this is the perfect song for the ending it's not one of the most popular songs but it really smacks the whole album doe's when you listen to it in order

You can tell on many of Dany's early solos how much she's influenced by David Gilmore.
This was my favorite track until Animosity came out

It wouldn’t surprise me if Pau worked QOTMS into a musical on Broadway. Imagine listening to The End at the conclusion of the show. Just wow ❤
