The oldies but goodies. I'm reminded of my parents by this music. My dad is such a proud Chicano! As a result, he instilled in me and my siblings a sense of pride in our culture. My dad had one of the biggest Tejano bars in San Antonio, Texas back in the days, R & R bar and grill off Mitchell. He really made that place big. Roberto Pulido and his wife often visit my dad and his now-new wife (my mother passed away years ago). It's the nostalgia that kicks in; Having cookouts and family gatherings, listening to Tejano oldies but goodies, Jimmy Edwards, Freddy Fender, etc. The good old days aren't coming back, but we can always remember the good old days. I'm thankful for the memories of my childhood. I'm lucky to have been raised in a family that embraced their culture. I'm proud to be a Chicano. RIP Jimmy Edwards!
The R&R Bar & Grill - How well I remember it. That''s where I met the woman who would become my wife 16 months after we met. She passed away in 2014 after 19 wonderful and memorable years.
As a white drummer growing up 25 miles south of San Antonio, I grew up with this great music. Jimmy, Little Joe, Sunny Ozuna and Rene & Rene among others. Played the old Teen Canteen across from NE stadium. Talk about real MEMORIES. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
I remember listening to this music as a kid in the 80's on the Southside of San Antonio. We didn't have much, but we had my dad's music. This is timeless. My mom has since passed away but I can remember my parents dancing to this song as well as others. We were poor but those MEMORIES were priceless.
My pops is now resting he to used to jam to Jimmy, he was from Santo,TX, Southside, Zamora &GILLETTE Pete Limon Sr. Marine Corps,1976,1977,1978,yrs he was in, His music, 🎶 in memorys,

Nick Levey you must not be a true Jimmy Edwards fan, this song has been around since the 70's, or you just might not be old enough to have heard it when it first came out.
Graduated from South San in 75, lived on Peabody street SouthSide, this song brings back memories of grand parents, parents and all my cousins, I have since moved to Florida . When I hear this song all those memories come flooding back.

I remember we used to go there and grind the floor dancing to Cumbias. In '78 I was a bridesmaid in my Brother's wedding and the reception was at Del Río Ballroom on Speedway/I-10. Omg, remember the walls there? They were painted in glow in the dark colors, made me dizzy but blamed it on the alcohol. We'd also hang out at El Casino where we covered the entire dance floor doing our steps to many rancheras. Then last year my Brother❤ was the guest of honor at El Casino for a fundraiser. He filled the ballroom with people supporting him in the fight against Leukemia. FYL Memories yup Memories !
