Editing the radius directly from the GUI!!! THANK YOU!!!!
It might be a small thing, but I am grateful for it!
I like to watch your monthly updates. Always something useful, even beyond main content, for example Knocki device. Wow. Did not know that.
Glad you find them useful! 🙏🏻 Thanks for watching!
YESSSSS Home Assistant continues to get so good. They're doing such good work! Thanks for covering this all in a digestible format. Love your videos so much.
A nice UI and customization? Finally, a feature my family will use!
Adding a helper (like the template) to the right device ID seems small, but man does that scratch my itch.
Blueprint edits and templates associated with devices are my favourite new features. Cool updates.
Those are really great improvements, agreed!
Finally a layout card with helpful UI. Phew!
A very welcome addition 😅
@@arunskuviyamphotography5388 I love layout card, but it is un-intuitive AF. Debating converting my layout dashboard to the new type to see how it works
Dashboard changes are pretty cool! 😀
Love the monthly updates! With these UI changes, I think it's time for a new list of some fantastic dashboards 👀
Not being able to edit blueprints is why I never I never use them, though the adding template sensors as part of the original sensor is going to be awesome for me!
Love to hear it! 🎉
Thanks for this overview, so helpful.
Thanks for the update! I just ordered a Smart Plant ESPhome
Oh awesome, enjoy when it arrives!
Thanks for these videos! Without them I would probably not even think about keeping up with the updates. I do really hope one day they revamp the damn Roomba integration to pick rooms. The 3rd party addon if good, but native support would be great!
Thanks for watching and appreciate it 🙏🏻
Finally the home zone!
So much more they could do with adding entities to devices. Helpers would be a great add here. As they stand now, there is no way to know what they are related to. Or to add a contact sensor to an independent door lock.
Simplifying home radius on the map is nice, and inexplicable it wasn't there since you can resize any other location radius on the map just fine. Glad they fixed that. The dashboard is also getting ever easier to organize to your liking which is fantastic. I need to do major changes to mine anyway.
Thanks. I would love to see a video from you about updates in general. If I open my HA every week, I likely see some updates, often for ESPHome and others. Should I really update every week? What should I do before I update? Is it a problem if skip an update or two? It would be great to see a video like that from you. Thanks.
Great video, for living in the uk though what do you use to control radiators in rooms?
Resize of tiles and changing the home radius is awesome! Been fighting with both of those recently.
The Home Assistant god must have smiled on you in that case 🤣
Hi Lewis, thanks for another great update.
I noticed an ESPHome device called "boiler-controller" in your ESPHome screen.
I'm very interested, would you mind sharing what it is, how it works and how it is programmed?
Thanks for the updates. Do you have a video on how to trigger scripts on a computer on the network from your home assistant dashboard ?
Windows rpc
Lewis! The beard!! Sooooo much better.
I used to be all in with HA, but the updates constantly and things breaking, I just can't keep up or be bothered anymore to fix it all.. This video might get me back into it
I didn't see the new update 🤔, Is this released yet?
Lol I went back to my home assistant app clicked on updates again, and there it is! It wasn't showing up 30 minutes ago when I clicked on update.
I wish they made it possible to target lights by area in the UI, similar to automations.
Great
I've come to a point where I don't read/watch any other text/video related to the releases. Just waiting until you post a video to see what's new in HA.
Home Assistant Release Notes (beta): -> "Oh no! This page does not exist 😞"
Quick question if you see a integration that is going to be affected by doing the update is there away to still do the update and not have it affect the integration as otherwise it’s like well if you want to keep up to date then there is no choice you have to accept what will happen to the affected integrations and everybody keeps giving the same warnings in there update videos to check before you do an update and nothing else is said and so your left wondering what should I do update or not
There was a Generic Thermostat within Home Assistant this entire time? I just set up a helper in YAML that stated if temp of a room within/outside number range then toggle switch accordingly. This will be much easier, though I don't know if this is configurable to determine the range of temperatures.
Haha yeah there has been, I think it was actually the very first integration I ever used 😅
If Harmony Hub is under backward-incompatible changes that means I won't be able to use it anymore right?
The notes say "The harmony switch entities that were deprecated since Home Assistant 2024.1, have now been removed.", so it's only the already deprecated switch entities you cannot use. Not the entire integration.
@@Kahera Thank you so much. For some reason the change log link isn't working for me.
"nice."
esp home update really useful, been something thats annoyed me
My biggest takeaway from this release is no longer needing ESPHome Add-on! Yay!
Their releases are far too frequent and too often are just updates fixing fixes from previous updates. And every time I install an update, it nags me to update all my ESPHome devices - even though the changes don't apply to them. So its either do the updates, and pray they don't brick the device, or just countless 'Ignores', over and over again. Ugh
No one is commenting about the 3D printer in the background full of presence sensor boxes? 👀
👀
Lessons from being a sysadmin: never install a software version that ends in a zero
To be honest, the resize feature completely disappointed me. It seems to only work on a small subset of items in the sections view, which I didn't use so far because it is still experimental. And no matter what I tried, there is no Layout tab.
Add chapters to your videos!!
BTW Home Assistant Release Notes (beta): link in description had a case of bitrot. (giving a Oh no! This page does not exist 😞 )
I'm too lazy to figure if lewis just doxxed himself, but I am sure someone can figure it out.
Haha feel free to visit me there 😅🤣
Bug on energy dashboard... Try editing...
Please make a up to date step by step of installing mqtt and adding a device
Looks like we're finally going to be forced to decommission our Harmony Hub. It's been a nightmare of unreliability for ages, but it's still a lot more effort to re-implement all of it's devices and automations directly inside HA than just struggling on without doing that.
First
I like home assistant but please, please if you have influence with them can we slow down the release schedule. Not just monthly but all the patches within a month. It's a real turnoff for a casual/new user. I want to a champion and roll it out to my non-techie,but curious friends. The constant tweaks to the interface makes this much more annoying
I kinda get it, but you know you don't have to update right? You can just press ignore and not see the update 😅
Yes - that's what I do - and it's fine for those of us who see/tinker with such things. It's not fine if HA want to eventually project a mature, professional image to a wider audience.
thank you as always. great concise info
🙏🏻
