What a fantastic looking M3. I can't wait to own one! :)
The SMG and manual are both the same transmission (Getrag 420g) the only difference is the detents that allow you to find your gears and the reverse switch is different because manuals don’t need the gear identification switch (although that would be cool to retain!).
I got a 420g SMG trans for my 330ci because it was impossible to find a good 420g manual. I shipped my bel housing to Lang Racing so they could do the machining. The bel housing is really light so it’s not too bad shipping wise. They put all oem parts and machining so for all intensive purposes it is exactly the same as a factory manual. It feels great, soo much fun :)
Glad to hear Lang was easy to work with for you. I bought my car already swapped and didn't know too much about the process. Called up the shop and they were able to inform me about everything. I have owned a true manual e46 m3 as well and there is no difference in feel from my experience!
You could keep the gear identification like the SMG display on a manual. There are modules who can identify in which gear you are in by speed/rpm ratio.
@@joeyvisser6953 do you think that might be compatible with the 3-series automatic display? I was thinking about coding in some sort of game, but it would be cool to display the gear like SMG.
@@alextasarov1341 it is possible. The person on UA-cam who make these modules is drukhadze.
@@joeyvisser6953 I might have to look into that! I also wanted to look into the shift lights using the temp/rev limit lights.
Currently waiting for my e46 m3 to come back from repair, you’ve gained a new sub love to see more m3 videos. Love from the UK
Appreciate you subscribing! I’ll try and put out some more m3 vids!
Love my e46 M3. And love the Smg. Mechanical but still easy in traffic. Just do the csl airbox mod 😎. That and front seats and brakes are the only mods worth doing IMHO. If you want something much faster then buy a much faster car.
Csl airbox seems like such a cool mod, hope I can get one on the car soon. The brakes on the car feel good, but I want to get some brembos up front eventually since I can use the Competition rotors with them. Don’t need it to be fast, just slowly improve upon what it is now!
you have gained a sub! what a clean example, with the proper owner. I am looking forward to more content Nick!👍🏻
I appreciate it! I’ll try and not let you down!
Great car. I Bought a Dinan S2 in carbon black with cinnamon interior at the end of October and absolutely love it. What made you switch from the CS 19s to the Apex 18s?
Color on your e46 is absolutely gorgeous brotha. I love driving mines as well and like you I have multiple cars to drive to keep the mileage down. 🔥🔥
Thanks man, appreciate it! Multiple vehicles is definitely the move if you have the space for it
Lang racing be lapping others at Buttonwillow raceway for NASA events. He knows how to set up a track car.
Stunning bro and in my opinion don’t sell it because they are going to be worth a fortune 🔮 soon not saying they are not pricey at the moment because they are up in price big time here in the Uk 🇬🇧
Definitely a good car to keep long term. Thought about selling it when I bought the lancia, but I have decided to keep it
I wouldn’t sell it because I would want to keep driving it. In like 20 years cars are going to be lifeless metal boxes. Gotta have fun while we still can
Have a titanium silver which I thought was boring and now love it. It’s only been a few months since I’ve had but did the Besian vanos rebuild and Vac coated bearings. Last is the subframe but overall it’s been a blast to drive with it somewhat sorted. Have an e36 m3 sedan manual also which gets more love
Titanium silver grew on me a lot as well! Looks really good and shows off the body lines, especially the hood bulge. I have to try out a e36 m3 myself, still haven’t owned or even driven one yet.
Neat M3! About the road to CSL box and FI...I have been there. The CSL box is all about sound. If you want power and keep the M3 E46 behavior, supercharger is the best bang for the buck. If you want holy shit power...than turbo is your best option.
Thanks for the heads up! Been going back and forth on what I want recently, but I feel like the supercharger is what I ultimately want. CSL airbox does seem pretty cool, but I'd probably get bored of it in a few months and end up selling the car.
Post some more driving. Love the video
Thanks! Will do!
Currently have a factory manual 05 interlagos comp, would love to have a Porsche next to it soon! Awesome two cars solution
Factory manual interlagos comp is such a good spec. I jumped on this car as soon as I saw the interlagos, I rarely see them up for sale. You got a great car on your hands!
Ahhhh perfect combo I’m back and fourth
Definitely an OG Watcher nice work
Thanks! Figured someone would notice
What power washer setup do you have? Thanks! The E46 is one of BMW best built cars. Love the M1 series too.
I have a Karcher K1700 cube running through a CR Spotless DIW-20 for DI water matched with a COX reel and MTM hose/gun
Bruh you are living my dream. Love from india
What a perfect garage setup! Can you tell us more about it? Love the car also 😀.
I subscribed, hope you don't let us down! Try to upload everything about your cars as often as possible! 😇
Thanks! I want to keep uploading videos of everything I do to the cars, especially the lancia. I have a lot of parts coming for that!
@@GTNick. Love the M3 and the Cayman but the Lancia is just delicious 🥰 Keep 'em coming!
Great car and video quality. Subscribed. I also have a SG E46 M3 Manual with a few track mods :) Love your CS
Thats awesome! Thanks!
that shifter is cool as hell. i had my smg converted as well, what would i need to put in a shifter like that, or would it be too late now?
You wont need anything extra to install it. Just takes a little bit of effort and preferably two people. You can buy them from RTD Motorsports. I'd recommend getting a dssr with it as it will also improve feel
So pretty. I’d love to hear more sound clips
Thanks! Hope I can get some more clips out soon
Looks really good 👌
Subbed, keep up the work bro beautiful cars,
Thanks! I appreciate the support!
Nice M3! My M3 needs a wash setup like yours. Can you provide some info about it. Thanks….
Thinking about buying karcher. I have everything else ready 75’ kobrajet , coxreel etc. wondering if there’s air purging issue for you? Like how it takes so long to get a full stream of water. I keep hearing about this issue.
The karcher has worked really well for me. I don’t have any issues running it through the RO and 75’ kobrajet. I think on its on with the wand and hose it comes with it runs weird tho
@@GTNick. i see, i did get my setup done with 3.0 nozzle. when just using the sg 28 gun, initial trigger pull seems to be a little strong, does it feel like that to you a well? also, hows the SS top on the newage? i ordered the bamboo and maybe im thinking i should change
Based on the list of mods you must have a fortune in your E36 M3. No problem (I like this generation M3 as well), but there is another alternative - Alfa Romeo Giulia. I came from a 6-speed GTI and found the ZF 8-speed auto plus paddle shifters is great! And the handling and steering from the factory supercedes the M3.
Doesn’t come in manual though… and it might handle better than a stock m3 but with upgraded suspension m3 is better. Also m3 has shorter wheelbase.
I will admit they are more similar than I expected but they serve very different purposes. Also the giulia isn’t exactly know to be reliable…
@@alextasarov1341 I had two manual VW products before buying the Giulia and I find the ZF 8-speed to be very interactive, with the column-mounted shift paddles and DNA modes, I am paddle shifting regularly, so it's interactive. The DNA modes are quite different in character, unlike other cars I've driven with similar systems.
You can't compare modified cars to stock; the Alfa can also be modded for handling improvements if you have the money to do it and it starts with a better suspension design (double wishbone front versus BMW's MacPherson struts) and a true 50/50 weight distribution.
"More similar than I expected"? The Alfa Quadrifoglio is a direct competitor to the M3 and serves exactly the same purpose. Reliability? All these performance cars take extra maintenance to stay on form, , but BMW fans shouldn't throw stones when the M3 V8 usually needs the rod bearings replaced with miles. BMW, in general, is not a paragon of reliability.
All that said, I like both the E46 M3 and the Giulia. The current BMW M3/M4? Not so much, as it's become too big (like an older M5) and has a face only a mother could love.
@@rlsedition the only reason I’m comparing modified to stock is because in order for an e46 m3 to cost as much as a Giulia you would spend money on top.
There is nothing wrong with liking the automatic. But it’s still not a manual. Being able to choose your gear is not the same as pressing a clutch pedal and rev matching. They are just different experiences.
The Giulia is a competitor to the newer m3/m4 like F80 not the e46.
And I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the e46 m3 is more reliable than the Giulia. Yes other bmws are horribly unreliable but they aren’t the cars we’re talking about.
@@alextasarov1341 Interesting, the cost issue, as I bought my Giulia Ti Sport used (a 2020 MY with 4700 miles) for $40k. It still had 3 yrs of factory warranty left. My understanding is that to buy a nice, relatively low mileage E46 manual is not far from that pricing. I get it, you love the E46 and that's cool with me.
Nick; what are the wheel sizes/tires sizes and offset of the ARC 8 wheels? Any spacers? Looks fantastic!
They are 18x9 et 30 and 18x10 et 25. I don’t have spacers in the rear, but I put a 5mm spacer in the front to make sure it cleared the KW. It’s a pretty safe street setup and I’ve had no issues running it. Tire setup is 245/40 and 275/35 in case you needed that too
Nice m3! What was the cost for the Lang SMG conversion?
Not 100% sure since my car came with it, but I believe its around 3-4k
How much did you get the car for and how much was the Manuel swap?
Sweet ride! How does the M3 handling compare to your GT4?
I would get it but there are basically none in my country.
And in neighbour country it costs like 26000€.
That’s gotta be rough, but honestly they aren’t much cheaper here now. Also the sellers here are extremely annoying to deal with
The conversation to manual. What was the cost?
Dude definitely CSL airbox
Headers, CSL airbox and a tune is the plan!
@@GTNick. euro headers r fine 👌🏽
What about the eventuri carbon air intake?
What do you do for a living
What do you do for work to afford such beautiful cars! 😍
What’s the mileage on yours?
what colour is this
Can we get more hand content?
Maybe 😉
What kind of gearbx u using
Just the stock smg converted to manual with a bellhousing swap from lang racing
Love it, just an iconic automobile. One problem, just too damn slow by todays standards.
Slow? 🤔 330 hp isn’t bad for today’s standards besides a few mods can jump the engine to 400 hp plus easily
To late here in europe those cars are 30+k
Definitely unfortunate and I’m not sure if these cars will drop in value again. Best odds are buying a rougher example and fixing it up yourself I guess
@@GTNick. when i was looking for that car years ago they were 15k...😥 Then stuff came and i couldn't buy it
I feel for you, hope you can find something tho. I know deals can still be found on these cars, it just takes a lot of time and dedication to get the right deal
Best i can do is an e46 320d :}
