I remember that Madison Gulf trail. Did it at the end of long day. Supposedly an old logging road, though it would be easy - the ups and downs seemed never ending. My NH mountain adventures end at Pinkerton. Will be new territory again going forward. You really rocked (haha) the Presidentials. Impressive.
Just wondering how you're feeling about nearing the end of trail. Are you ready for it to be over and get back home or are you thinking whoa, I'm not ready for this to be over yet.
Without looking at a map, so I could be wrong, but off the cuff, the reason you didn't see any white blazes for a stretch was because that part of the trail is in a Wilderness Area. A Wilderness Area has to be deemed so by Congress and once so designated, can have NO man-made items in it. Such as paint, shelters, platforms, can have signs but not painted ones, rarely brushed-out so you can see it's a trail, that sort of thing. Madison Gulf trail (if I'm correct) goes through part of the Great Gulf Wilderness Area which ends close to the Auto Road as you head toward Pinkham. Normally there is a wooden sign that tells you you are entering or leaving a Wilderness Area. When you came down Washington, you filmed and looked into the Great Gulf (little Spaulding "Lake" is at the bottom). Down there? Now, THAT, is wild; poorly marked even by NH standards, if marked by a sign at all. Truly wild.
Bandit , Did you treat your gear with permethrin for the last three states or is it not necessary? I can’t wait to see the last couple weeks on trail but I don’t want it to end . Outstanding effort!
So you come off the trail and are waiting for a ride. How do you arrange a ride when you are out on the trail to meet you at a certain point and time? Pretty good deal however you do it. Hike safe.
We usually have folks along the trail that let us know about shuttle drivers, and we have an app that lists some. We call when we have cell service and estimate the time of arrival
I'd say you timed it to the motel pretty well and almost beat the rain. Quite a long distance with no white blazes. Good that you have tracking devices that you can check. Onward with the adventure!
Great content. I am kind of surprised that they did not just replace your pack instead of repairing it. I guess it is all good now anyways. Keep up the hard work.
Incredible scenery! You once mentioned Captain Jack and Bob Ross. Captain Jack is doing a YoYo. He is south bound. It would be great if you see him on trail!
I’ve been wanting to ask this for a while. When you “acknowledge” our txts; and I’m sure all of here really appreciate that and thank you for that; when you type those acknowledgements, are you ahead of our view by three days or how’s that work. My brain wants to get twisted on that.
I’m usually ahead by 3 to 5 days. I can’t upload every day because I’m in the woods. I save them and upload when I am in town. I intentionally try to stay a week ahead to avoid having days with no video, but as you know, it still happens.
Hey bandit, at which point on the trail will you actually be able to see the summit of Katahdin for the first time if the skies are clear? NO FOOD!!🙀. I keep a bag of raisins in my hip pocket all of the time because I’m afraid I’m gonna get hungry and there won’t be anything around. 😂
I think we’ll see it as we’re nearing the end of the 100 mile wilderness. I’m like you. When I say no food, it usually means that I only have a snack or two. I also always have an extra pack of ramen.
I think I average about one navigation mishap per 100 miles. NP & SP often have poor markings. In the Smokies I met a hiker at a trail crossing, after our conversation I continued straight for about 1.5 hours before I discovered I should have turned right when I met the hiker. Another moment with the morning after heavy snow just N of Grayson Highland. Ruts were covered over and all the trees had white on them. Hands and knees crawling underneath normal green tunnel areas. What I have found is when something goes wrong it creates a story to be told.
Red squirrels are very mean and will chase off grey squirrels. I had grey ones around my house, then red a one showed up and I never saw another grey squirrel after that. Very territorial.
Enjoy every post- you are finishing strong! Hope you see our friends Maryland and Resume’ - a father/17 yr old daughter NOBO thru hikers finishing up within the next two weeks. What an accomplishment for all of you!
Beautiful trail and forest.
Yes it was!
New Hampshire is my favorite place in your walk rough but so beautiful, thanks for sharing
It really is! Thanks

Thanks. Keep going forward!!
I got a lot of buffering on my end, but did catch most of this video! Yall stay safe glad you are in town with the rain coming down!
Thanks. It’s coming again Friday
I love that you acknowledge the trail every day!!
Perfect timing with the end of your hiking day and the rain.
Always! I don’t feel right if I don’t acknowledge it every day.
I was worried that you hadn’t seen any white blazes. 😅 stay safe. Tough trail. Almost home😊
You and me both! Thanks
Keep going! You’re rocking this adventure. My husband Jim and I have watched every video. We’re rooting for you and Bluegrass!
Thank you! Will do!
It looks like you didn't quite make it almost but not quite. 😂 😅 Ended up getting a little damp Happy trails and God bless
Yeah. Can’t make it all the time😂
Brother I am sooo proud of you!!!
Thanks Robin!!
Keep an eye on the weekend weather. Debby is going to visit you when she leaves here.
Can't wait! Been watching it. Should be here Friday
I like to use those river scenes as well as those mountains as my desktop screen
That sounds 😊
Just wondering how you're feeling about nearing the end of trail. Are you ready for it to be over and get back home or are you thinking whoa, I'm not ready for this to be over yet.
It’s mixed emotions with a little of both, but his won’t be my last adventure
@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors great, glad the adventure goes on, heading north

That makes sense. Thanks.
Bandit ,
Did you treat your gear with permethrin for the last three states or is it not necessary?
I can’t wait to see the last couple weeks on trail but I don’t want it to end .
Outstanding effort!
Yes. Just treated it again today

I work outside in the heat and hate when my water gets warm. How often, if ever, did you come across a stream and refill with cold water?
We just get used to drinking lukewarm water.
I'd say you timed it to the motel pretty well and almost beat the rain. Quite a long distance with no white blazes. Good that you have tracking devices that you can check. Onward with the adventure!
I tried to make it. Just not fast enough 😂
Great content. I am kind of surprised that they did not just replace your pack instead of repairing it. I guess it is all good now anyways. Keep up the hard work.
Yeah me too. They said that they don’t replace if it can be repaired
Incredible scenery! You once mentioned Captain Jack and Bob Ross. Captain Jack is doing a YoYo. He is south bound. It would be great if you see him on trail!
We actually met him yesterday. He will be in an upcoming video.
@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors Thats awesome!! Happy trails!
How are the Altra's performing
I just blew out the Olympus. Had to get more. Went back with the lone peaks.

It’s a great day, thanks a bunch, heading north
You bet

Yep. Always makes a good story

Wow. Didn’t know that.
Happy Wednesday!😊
