    You were in back of it so it seemed counterclockwise to you, but the direction is determined by how it is to be turned when facing it. This is a reverse thread so it is turned clockwise to loosen it.

    I have the same trimmers, to removed the head you put the awl in the side slot and match it with the inner hole, then grab head and turn clockwise as you are facing from bottom. You do not have to remove half inch bolt and spring to disassemble. Replace new head by reversing removal, turning head counterclockwise to tighten. The tool that came with trimmer has a spark plug wrench on one end, the other end is for removing the trimmer head, awl is not needed. Read instructions that came with trimmer.

    Those indeed are LEFT-HAND threads (both primary and extended). Instead of an awl, I immobilized the head with a large needle-nose pliers, but I suppose even a large nail would do, too. I successfully grabbed the entire 1" diameter nylon spring-loaded assembly with a pipe wrench/waterpump pliers, rather than reaching inside to grab the nylon nut, after spraying it with penetrating oil. Very informative--thanks for posting the video. You made it easy for a lot of us!

    Old Video but perhaps you will get the message that it worked EXACTLY like you showed it. Thanks very much.

    The camera was too far away from main replacement head to see the details being performed.

    No need to take the 1/2" bolt and spring assembly off...entire head will turn off with your hand once the head is locked in place through the small hole on the gear head.

    Thanks! turns out the spring had gone on mine, but I could not figure out how to stabilize the head to keep it from turning. wish I had watched this video 40 minutes ago!

      It depends on which way you're looking at it. Which part exactly are you talking about? At 4:21 ish from our perspective(from the bottom) it looks counter clockwise, but from his, an over top perspective, he's going clockwise.

    Just curious, why did you disassemble parts within the head before removing the head itself?

    • @ronzek3207
      @ronzek3207 2 роки тому

      Yep, he made a simple job HARD! spark plug wrench that came with trimmer also has other end for putting in side slot to match small hole inside to hold shaft so you can turn head off. Awl and socket not needed.

    I imagine all Echos are pretty much the same? I got the nut (no washer) off the one at work but then the rest of the shit didn't seem to wanna come off. The plastic housing and the spring. I didn't try too hard because it is work property. Next time I'll just pull on it a little harder, but I wonder if it's different somehow. I'm not 100% on what model it is, I'll find out, but everything looks the same and it is an Echo. I just wanna clean out the shit stuck in there lol. 3:18 exactly.
    But yeah, great vid, clear instructions.
