    I guess a victory but that's not so hard. How about playing in5/4 or 7/4 I have done it and so have many others, The Beatles did it and then slowed the recording down to half speed and did not change the pitch, can you do that without a computer? I want to here you do that! Frank Zappa also did it but he was much smarter than all of us put together. I was in my high school jazz stage band in the late 70's, our teacher-conductor would have us change time and key signatures on the fly by either vocal signals, visual signals, or by the tap of his wand. I have also seen Rush do it live back in the '80's and '90's. Santana also did live quite a bit. King Crimson even played in 9/4 live. To music listeners what you did may be a big deal, but to musicians who have played in symphonies it is not. Many classical pieces go through time and key signature changes many times in one movement.

      So insightful, so genius! You should start a channel and take all of Dave’s subs for yourself as you’re clearly the superior player.

      Why do something that has already been done numerous times? That’s backwards thinking, as emphasized by your dwelling of the past. You can start your own channel and put your horn where your mouth is. 🎷😮

      tHOMAS Redmond “with a tap of his wand”. Was it a magic wand?
      P.s. Zappa was a genius for sure and directed the band with hand signals. They were super tight and killed it.
      I think the Mingus band had a similar kind of free flow. That’s what it sounds like but it’s hard to say how much it varied night to night.

      Thank you Frankie!!!! It is very relaxing and I like it. I am not about bashing artists, I believe everyone has talent and should be free to play what they want, I just want to be honest about what I hear and I should be able to comment freely as well. This is not Facebook or Twitter where everyone is full of hate! Being honest is not being a hater, I have been in the music industry for 40 years, I know what it is like. It is not easy, it can be cutthroat, and it can also be wonderful and enlightening. Dave is doing what he loves and if someone really hates it they can turn it off. I like what he has done, I even subscribed to his channel, If I made him mad at me that's on him, I was just being honest just like you were Frankie. You have 275 likes so we are not alone.

    This sounds so nice! I'm listening to it while working and, damn, feels amazing. But the melody part took years to end, which makes sense, since it was written to be played super fast. I would love to listen to a contra-fact melody that better suited this tempo. Anyway, great work as always, Dave!

    So which is harder to play musically, 400BPM or 40BPM? Barring the purely physical aspects of playing fast, having all that "space" at 40BPM to fill with musical ideas has it's own challenges. Ballads are hard to play! I did also enjoy the lighter side of it, thanks for sharing!

    • @DavePollack
      @DavePollack  4 роки тому +1

      Someone asked this already so I'll paste my reply: 400 was much harder by far. I LOVE playing ballads and just playing slow in general. Tone is the most important thing when I play, so I was right at home with this. I NEVER played a tune at 400 before and it was way above my current ability, hahah
