- There has been a common misconception about 2b2t being the oldest Minecraft server. In this video, we uncover the truth of Minecraft Online being the oldest server instead.

Just a warning to all viewers: DO NOT BREAK ANYTHING ON THIS SERVER. Some moderators go ban-crazy! I accidentally, broke a torch and I was greeted instantly with a moderator threatening to ban me. So be careful!
This popped up in suggested, but, this server is not the oldest. c.nerd.nu has been running since mid 2009. See here: wiki.nerd.nu/wiki/Main_Page. The subreddit /r/Minecraft was originally dedicated to the server itself before it branched off. That subreddit was created on June 10th, 2009, therefore being older than this by a year.

trooprm32 Yeah, but you also have to consider that Minecraft muiltiplayer was launched much earlier in America than in the EU region, as nerd.eu started up about a month after it launched in the States and MineCraftOnline.com was created the day of launch in the EU area.

Actually if you breath in a location, and IF the molecules stay in the same place, when you breath, the molecules stay the same age so theoretically after cellulaire respiration the age of their atoms won’t change thus the joke doesn’t work

Trust me, it's actually pretty free, I joined in October and the only people who get banned were people who legit said they read the rules and don't care, and people who repeatedly grief and play dumb every time.

@@tjmodz5082 The only way you got banned for breaking "some dirt" is if you said you yourself considered it grief, otherwise they just ask you to place it back.
It's completely free. People who got banned just didn't read the rules. Spawn is the most protected zone in the entire server. Once you get out of spawn and find an empty piece of land, you can do whatever you want there.

the two oldest servers in Minecraft are like heaven and hell:
2b2t is an anarchy wasteland where no one is bound by rules and can do whatever they wanted
while MinecraftOnline is a totalitarian land where breaking a torch can get you vanquished
2b2t isnt completely lawless as it needs to maintain its integrity

Nah they use worldedit to rollback the most severe griefs. The server has a very interconnected series of nexus teleporters, and a griefer once used this to destroy ALL of them and all the cities they led to. The mods banned him by IP (because he kept making alt accounts) and _rollllllled_ back all the damage. Good times, was very fun to see his grief amount to nothing.

Shirecraft is one of the oldest too - Oct 15 2010. No map resets, 1000s of old builds. It's so cool to see all the history.

Yeah I ain't joinin, from experiences with other servers, mods/admins that sound like customer service are usually the most aggressive ones.
That and how the heck are you supposed to build something if you can't break anything? with most of my builds I usually place dirt or something to measure it out, then remove it when I build that part...
So yeah, you sound like a nice guy... (until someone inevitably messes up a little that is) but.... I'm good.

There was once two gods in the World of Minecraft.
MinecraftOnline and 2b2t, before the war they were brothers, both equal. Building as they liked, surviving as they liked, socialising.. as they liked. MinecraftOnline and 2b2t loved each other, they were like best friends. Time flew past and before they knew it, the war had started. MinecraftOnline fought hard. However 2b2t, his best friend, had not. The griefers submerged in to the server; destroying everything. MinecraftOnline saw that 2b2t had taken the dark path to complete calamity and chaos. MinecraftOnline had then made an oath to never take the turn to evil, to live in happiness with its players and to keep everything preserved. As time went past 2b2t became more and more griefed as MinecraftOnline became more and more safe. The Two Gods were now rivals, parallels, strangers.. far from being the same.

I use to love these type of servers just meant for talking and building
I love this chaotic neutral design of the server, everything is so strange, theres a townhall next to a giant block of TNT next to another Dome. Its so cool, its like r/place, everybody does what they love and everybody respects each other.
I got a polite warning but not a ban on my first day, I broke a random wither skeleton skull on the ground someone had placed. They can see what/where/when blocks are broken, along with who broke them and who placed them, both by username (so there's zero chance you'll get banned for breaking your own block, if you hear this it's a lie). They ask you questions and will take your word for it if you say it was an accident or if you didn't read the rules they will just send you back to spawn to reread them.
tl;dr They don't ban you unless you say you read the rules will continue to break them, or you break things repeatedly and play dumb every time

Never heard that 2b2t was the oldest or longest running server. I've only ever heard that 2b2t is the longest running anarchy server.
I remember building a huge cobblestone and wood house. It was probably 1000x1000 but it’s crazy how it’s actually ungriefed and still amazed by it right now.
In this server there is history and no war with old buildings but 2b2t WAR WAR WAR GRIEF GRIEF GRIEF and then there were ruins.
Yet the minecraft online mods go nuts when you just take a step in.

I don't remember anyone claiming 2b2t is the oldest server, just that 2b2t is the oldest ANARCHY server.
I've been playing on MinecraftOnline for about a year and a half now, and all I can say is to NOT THINK OF IT AS AN ANARCHY SERVER. If you enjoy anarchy servers, MinecraftOnline is not for you (and vice versa). They are very strict, sometimes overly so, but it's because it is probably one of the most hostoric and important servers the game has ever seen. If/when they call you out for something, just be polite and apologize. I see too many people who just ignore the moderators or just argue incessantly, when really that's the only hurdle you have to get through. After that, the playing experience is second to none.
It's like those stories. One side is just peace and one side is war.
I remember when mcpvp.com was the biggest mc server with merely thousands playing at one time. Sad it got shutdown because it came out like 2010 too I believe

What if people from 2B2T raid Minecraft Online try to find the time with the least mods online and grieve everything, but be discreet and fast and wait a bit so they won't get suspicious they won't be able to ban 100+ people fast enough to stop massive damage to be done, they would have to close the server down.
I recently became friends with og member of minecraft online. Showed me around during the 10th aniversary celebration. Holy crap there was alot of history on the old map they brought for it.

I actually went on this server and I must say, despite the UNBEARABLE lag (and Im a 2b vet, so that's saying something) and the absolutely ARBITRARY, BACKWARDS, AUTHORITARIAN rules, I had fun for a while.
HOWEVER, the thing that made me leave and never come back is the fact that some high level donators have the power to instantly TP to any player they want WITHOUT said player's consent. That means that you could be minding your own business, safe and secure in your house, then some a-hole TPs to you, kills you, raids all your chests, then leaves you with nothing. In a place that supposedly prides itself on being anti-grief and survival-oriented, this is beyond HYPOCRITICAL.
I’m a player on my his server and I would just like to say that it isn’t that difficult to not get banned. Even if you do the admins are super nice about appeals. Many of you need to understand that this is one of the greatest things in the world, and it needs to be protected. If you join the server I’m sure you will see how close knit and kind the whole community is, even to newcomers.
Maybe check it out before making another unfair ban comment.
