The 205 was known for its handling back in the day, so it's not surprising it feels like it handles well, but they were well known for lift-off oversteer if you got a bit silly with them.
that is insane power to weight ratio 8.5 lbs/hp my old Volvo 26.3 lbs/hp over 3 times as much and it drives like a brick, When i worked for a Volvo dealer in the 90's they had the Peugeot franchise for our area and the 205's sold like crazy, not too many cabriolets we did sell almost 80 205 GTI AWD's we have stupid winters and they performed excellent , even in the deep snow with snow tires, we did have to install block heaters in them for the minus 35 weather here and here in Canada we were able to get them with heated seats as standard equipment, nice cars 👍we never got the diesel, never a big seller
The 205 GTI was FWD only, the only 205 with AWD/4WD was the T16, if you sold 80 of those you sold close to half the production run as it was a homologation special of 220(ish)
Back in the day i had a 205 gti 1.9 turbo , Was very few cars that would keep up with it on the b roads , So can see why this would be a nice little sleeper .
Nice idea. Its a shame the French opted to get in bed with Ford for the engines that followed the bulletproof XUD they were way ahead in the 80s and 90s in diesel technology. The HDIs were OK but they seemed to get lost in the 00s. Previously owned and ran; 104, 205, 305, 306 (DT and DT Wagon), 405, 406 (DT and HDI), 407.
Theres a lad called Danny mountain I think it is, put a pd130 in a 205 few years ago now he’s decent little rig 👌🏼
Same guy who put a pd130 in a civic ek ?
@@SmokeyTdiyes
Yep see him about sometimes when he brings it out think he's going compound turbo set up soon. Its already mental as it is 🤣
Absolute machine , running a compound setup 👌🔥
@@ryanfletcher222not yet he ain’t
Thought this was Daniel Mountains.. hes got a PD130 in his running over 400+ bhp.. 🔥💪🏽
Reyt then, lift off oversteer with the hood down whilst doing 50mpg? Sounds good.

Yessirr! These are the type of engine swaps i love! W to the owner!
Nice little car. Pretty lively at speed down a bumpy B road I imagine.
Love it!
No the original engine was not iron block,it was a 90 kilo alloy with wet liners. And a 35 kilo 5 speed box...
Ive seen this in person and the guys sound as hell. If you see it around Leeds area be careful 😂
🤙🏻
Do You change suspension to GTi version? I got standard CTi and though about changing suspension from CTI to full GTI suspension. Is it worth?
Not sure if suspension was upgrade on this one. We don't usually work on them so
@@DarksideDevelopments Thank You for answer :) have a nice day
Mine next please?
Why does the turbo take so long to spool on that thing?? :)
Torque limited at low RPM to save the clutch
Now I want to see a tuned HDI 1,4 in a Citroen AX...
got more than my 320 d 😂
Did they make a non DPF 2.0 TDI and is it better for reliability and tuning?
I think it was some of the the 1.9PDs that didn't have DPFs, common rail 2.0tdi all have them as far as I'm aware
@@Sir_Mudging Yeah a lot of the early 1.9 tdis have no DPFs
The bkd engine that’s in this video has no factory dpf. Just a cat😊
I've got a Seat Altea 2.0 BKD, no DPF from factory.
@@Grantly Yep, I had a 2006 Leon with a BKD, no DPF.
