I had soooo many of these toys. Planet of the Apes, Action Jackson, Star Trek, Robin, the Batcopter...and I had that Penguin, too! My buddy still has a lot of these figures in MINT condition.
Mego was awesome !! I had Star Trek, Batman, Robin, Joker, Penguin, The Batmobile, Superman and Planet of the Apes figures !!!! These commercials bring back great memories :)
I know I agree! What great figures and what great fun we had imagining Planet of the Apes scenes, bat man and robin against the penguin and joker! Batman got a lead from the batmobile. I had the Spider car too and Dukes of Hazard and KISS rock group figures! Great times!
this video been up over 2 and a half years and only 1300 views??!!? there were millions of us who were little boys in the 70's. I guess we must be getting up in age now and mass retro vintage interest must be waning. what a shame, this collection of commercials from my youth is priceless. God I wish I could turn back the hand of time.
Bought a vhs copy of this back in the mid 90’s..Now watching this takes me to nostalgia twice..I remember Seeing these as a yougin in the 70’s..And again watching it with my kids(when they were young)in the 90’s..Where does the time go?
I had best of worlds! Born in 73 so I was big into Megos and kept collecting them even as in 77/78 I also did all the Kenner star wars figures, vehicles, play sets so it was planet of the Apes, star trek, batman and robin,HULK,Spider-Man right along with my star wars things! Even got in a bit on the Masters of the Universe in the 80's but nothing beat the megos and star wars for me!
@@williambain2646Mego was amazing. Between the 8” figures, and later when they brought over Takara’s Microman line as the Micronauts. Just amazing fun stuff. They overstretched and overspent in that sudden shift to electronic toys.
The 70's were so unique. The toys were awesome. Us kids didn't have the PS5's X-Box One, but it never mattered. I remember my imagination, my action figures, and my fun was all I needed. So many great times. Hell even the little green army men sets. SST's racers, Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle, and my biggest favorite TYCO/AFX slot🏁🏎🏁Racing🏁! These days had heart and true fun. Mego's World's Greatest Superheroes line-up was my other top toy. 🕷🕸Spider-Man🕷🕸, Thing, Human Torch, Hulk, Captain America and the Falcon, Green Goblin, Lizard, Iron-Man, Batman, Robin, Joker🃏, Penguin🐧, Superman, and my rare ones, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wondergirl, Speedy(little Green Arrow, but red), and Green Arrow 🏹. O many more, and so much fun. Add the Planet of the Apes into it. Even Star Trek and you'd have a great time for a Battle Royale. Ah fun days as a kid.
You lost me on all the action figures. GI Joe was all I had. But the Tyco-Pro and I think Aurora slot cars, Cox nitro planes, cars, trike, the SST racers of course, (you forgot the "smash-em Crash-em Derby" cars.). We had toys that taught us to build things too. Erector sets, (very mechanical, worth big bucks today) Lincoln Logs, Leggo's, Chemistry sets, model rockets with solid fuel engines, radio kits, Balsa wood airplanes, Play dough fun factory, all kinds of models. We had toys that inspired solid careers in free enterprise. We were inspired by real science, not political science.

I love them too! The box for the 1978 12 inch Incredible Hulk figure actually read adorable ugliness!!! Lol only the 70's and only those cats at Mego!!
Well he wasn't wrong! I kinda like the Dinah-Mite dolls, until recently she really was more poseable than Barbie, like she can still down & do karate kicks XD it's a shame she didn't dethrone Barbie. Shame that the African American Dinah-Mite didn't get her own name & ad either

What a Great Toy Company Mego was. They thought of a lot of great figure lines, and the commercials were just as exciting (music and all). I like the Narrators & Presenter too. I wish they would've focused more on the 3 3/4 O-Ring scale figures like Hasbro did with GiJoe. Marty was/is a Genius Man!👍
Great toys! I love the Seventies. I wonder why Dynamite... sorry, I meant Dinah-Mite, didn't become more famous than Barbie. The latter is still going strong now, while Dinah-Mite is totally forgotten.
Right? Maybe she had too many points of articulation for 70s kids to handle? XD it's hard to say why Dinah didn't overtake Barbie, Dinah is smaller but there were plenty of dolls that size... Maybe they didn't get enough fashion? I don't think Dinah-Mite ever had much of a supporting cast. There was an African American Dinah-Mite, literally the same doll but black down to the head sculpt, so she wasn't a supporting character really. Maybe had they sold her pal with a new name... Odd ACTION Jackson was the same.
Guess they had to say Mr. Fantastic could turn invisible, since they hadn't figured out how to stretch him (should've made him a smaller version of Stretch Armstrong).
Think of what you wanna be, and call on meeee!: *I WANNA BE A FAMOUS PORN STAR THAT GETS TO NAIL TRACI LORDS, AND LINDA LOVELACE, BEFORE HIV/AIDS IS INTRODUCED BY THE CIA TO RUIN EVERYTHING FOR EVERY GENERATION AFTER MINE!*

That guy who introduces the Action Jackson and Dynamite figures -- was that something people actually saw on network TV, or was it one of those films Mego only showed in-house to their employees to help them promote the figures?
