Great day to be a Flyers fan.
😂😂😂 no such thing as a good day for Flyers fans.
@@Carpy_On_Ice well 1975 was good
@@dmcguriman Or for those of us who are too young, 2012 in the first round was pretty cool 😹
Michkov is gonna be so fun to watch.
Maybe. He hasn't played 1 nhl game yet. There's always that possibility of a let down. Just keeping it real.
@@winkletown8828 well yeah but that applies to every player who hasn’t played in the nhl yet
@@winkletown8828 I could see it taking him a little bit to get used to the game over here
For a couple of years, until he is back in Russia. Screenshot.
Shhh!
Honestly really excited to see what Michkov can do on the NHL stage. Even as a lifetime Penguins fan you gotta respect his talents
Briere is doing a great job so far
I'm a Caps fan. Briere/Jones took a chance on a Russian offensive talent, which traditionally is something the Flyers never have done before(as far as I know). Briere would do great if he can find a way to break the goalie curse for the Flyers. Carter Hart was supposed to be the long time #1, but his career could be over with that 5 men on a girl('m trying to state that nicely) court case. Ersson did an admiral job as a rookie, but I don't think he's a projected #1. Fedotov is an unknown and being paid $3.3 million per year(I'm puzzled why they gave him so much for no NHL games played) with only a few recent NHL games played(he was kind of meh) so far.
The anti-Fletcher
@@dmonsef Yup well known with Clarke involved russians were out of the picture, I think we see that he has FINALLY lost his control. Fedotov had to get that much sort of to leave russia and he deserves it for what he's been thru and it shows the flyers are a classy org under briere, hilferty and jones.
Like them guys Danny and Jonesy
@@dmonsef following the Flyers more than the Caps LMFAO
With Michkov’s situation being not nearly as bad as others thought it could be, this should prevent Demidov from having a similar slide in the draft I think.
thus prevent him from sliding all the way to Philadelphia, they could use him, maybe even at center
@@xlr0gd205Stop teasin’ me bro!
Typically how I've seen Canadian homerism to work is, if you are a fan of one of the eastern teams (Habs, Leafs, Sens) you hate to see 1 of the other 2 teams succeed. However, you are more likely to jump on the band wagon if one of the western teams go on a big run. I believe the reverse is true, a Flames fan can probably get on the Sens bandwagon, just don't expect them to cheer on Edmonton.
habs fan here. i've always hated the oilers, and hope the panthers win.
honestly, i'd be okay if the canucks, flames, jets, or sens won one, but the leafs and oilers would make me upset.
Habs fan here. I hate Ottawa and Toronto. Any western team could win
As a habs fan...anyone but Toronto
I only see the homerism in casual fans. If you want to cheer for "team Canada", go watch the Olympics, world Juniors, world Cup, women's world Cup, helinka Gretzky, etc.
As a Flames fan I can confirm. I was on the Habs bandwagon when they had the COVID run, but I would absolutely hate to see the Oilers win it tomorrow.
You can't root for your biggest rival. You just can't.
I won't believe it until he's in Philly eating a cheesesteak with Gritty smacking the media.
SKA will let him go to NHL, this was all over Russian media like a month ago. 100% done deal, partially bc the dude is super over hyped, and SKA doesn't really need him.
@@vladislavsergeyev5736 - Overhyped? Outplayed Bedard and Wright the last time they were on ice at the same time and won MVP. Was your team drafting 2-6 in 2023?
@@rgood1204 I'm from Russia, lol, I don't need NHL team to see that the player is not even a star by KHL standards, that's why he played for Sochi, not for SKA itself, and now he wants to go to NHL? Panarin and Kaprizov, for example, were farming Russian league before going, this dude is Kravtsov 2.0.
@@vladislavsergeyev5736 - We will see in the next few years. The #1 prospect in hockey as surveyed by all NHL team directors of player personnel. I'll go with their opinions.
@@vladislavsergeyev5736 he will have plenty of time & every opportunity to grow his game here in Philly. No pressure, just play Hockey. Every rookie is a risk... I guess we will see.
Life long Oilers fan (from the WHA days ) . Cheer for whoever you want, I cheer for any Canadian team ( even Calgary and I hate Calgary) except the Leafs. Never Leafer
Ouch!😊
Exactly Anyone but the Leafs
❤
I hate the Oilers, and the French team
I thought Leafs were a part of San Francisco :D
Holy cow! Great news for the Flyers
Canucks fans remember 2011 when NOBODY outside of Canucks fans were cheering for the Canucks in the finals.
Not remotely true, as loads of people correctly dislike Boston, but I appreciate that sentiment regarding whether to cheer a rival just because of the borders. Hard no, makes zero sense
The only reason I want the Oilers to win is because of McDavid. Even as a Sabres fan there is no single player I want to see raise the Cup more than McDavid.
Exactly. The best players in the league should have their names on a cup somewhere, sometime. It still bothers me that Iginla didn't get that. (Canucks fan)
He will get his one day. As a Sabres fan, I’m rooting for Ox to win before retirement.
you're not a very good sabres fan then lol, cheering for mcjesus over okie is crazy. what has mcdavid done for us?! wtf
@@drbjr8223 I'd argue I'm a pretty good Sabres fan, and one that is getting sick of seeing for er Sabres players winning Cups after leaving Buffalo.
There has not been this much hype around a player in Philly since Eric Lindros. Hope he a very successful career.
I hope the Flyers dont put too Much pressure on a kid from Russia 19 years old only and he dont understand english very well 🤔🏒 the defense Will not be better with Michkov and the middle position Too 🤷
When I was a boy playing hockey around Red Deer in the 1970s, I cheered for the Canucks (only western NHL team) and the Oilers in the WHA. I still cheer for both to this day, which makes series between them difficult for me!
Any Flames fan rooting for the Oilers is not a Flames fan. Tkachuk and Bennett did nothing wrong - Management (Treliving) fucked around and found out xD
Thomas, when did you become the official gatekeeper of the Flames? That's a great honor!
@@ChickensinHighDef just today actually! 😃
@illfatez My understanding:
1. Treliving chose to save cap space and bridge Tkachuk instead of the 8 year extension he wanted to avoid trading away Frolik's $4.3M contract. (Which he ended up trading anyways)
2. Treliving lowballed Gaudreau the offseason before so no deal was done
3. Per Blake Coleman: Tkachuk probably would've stayed if Gaudreau hadn't left.
Treliving didn't lock in our star player who wanted to stay long term, let Gaudreau expire and then Tkachuk didn't like the future of the team and gave us notice so we could get a return for him. (Respectable thing to do)
If I'm missing something lmk, but as of now I hold nothing against Chucky. He gave us a chance to recoup assets instead of signing his QO and walking :)
Earth shattering trade news
I'll remember where I was, and will tell my grandchildren about this day.
Predators-Sharks Western Conference Finals in 2025, book it.
Thank you for your passion for hockey! All the best from the Caribbean 🌴
As a Hockey fan, i say cheer for whoever you want. I used to cheer for red wings after the oilers legacy died. I grew up in Edmonton so got used to that fast paced type of game. After Gretzky was sold and Messier and Coffee left. The Oilers weren’t the same. The red wings had a similar play style. So I started cheering for them. I switched back to being an Oilers fan 2 years after McDavid joined the club because that play style returned. Now when the crowd is silent and the Oilers are playing good and with confidence, you can hear smack, smack with every pass and shot! Good, hard, fast and accurate volleys to each other! That’s what I missed from the Dynasty Oilers!
So as an Oilers fan, You would be crazy to not be cheering for them! They are exciting to watch, especially when their power play is clicking!
Go Oilers! Go! Bring us home the cup!!!!💙🧡💙🧡💙🧡
So which team are you cheering for after the McDavid era ends?
@@busorenkin55 is it really your buisness ?
Flames fan cheering for Florida. To me Oilers winning is worst case scenario since round 1 and I want Tkachuk and Bennett to win a cup. Go Panthers!
I'm an Oilers fan, and I don't think Canadians owe the Oilers their support. That's just ridiculous.
You like the players you like. You like the teams you like. Or not.
I remember a tweet that said something like "The Kansas City Chiefs could be playing against Al Qaeda and I still wouldn't cheer for them." I imagine there's at least a few Canadians who feel that way about the Oilers lol
I'm from New Zealand so have no Canadian interest in rooting for the Oilers - I do root for them though, but because they were an underdog team when I started watching, so great to see them finally get this far!
I really want to see Paul Maurice get a cup. I think he is a great coach
He's a great coach, but he sometimes seems out of touch with reality.
he is the coach with the most loses in nhl history.. his hockey background is meh.. hes not a coach .. hes a motivator
Whatever, he is coaching in 3rd final and brought his teams deep into playoffs a few more times. Thats good motivating them. Florida is hardest team the Rangers faced all year, thats all I saw
Canucks fan in Vancouver, let’s go Panthers! Been rooting hard for them this series, despite getting yelled at in Vancouver on a couple of key occasions.
As a Flyers fan, we’ve been irrelevant for a decade so this is the first hope we have (ironically) since Briere was a player here. The team has a long way to go because we have so many bad contracts, but Michkov is step 1 back to relevance.
Regarding Game 7 tomorrow night, i’m rooting for Edmonton. McDavid is the best player of this era and the sport needs Grtetzky, Lemieux, Messier, Crosby, Ovechkin and now McDavid winning Cups. Alot of sports podcasters/media guys who are casual fans finally see how great McDavid is. This is like Messier in ‘94 willing the Rangers to the Cup.
Let's go Flyers! Breaking the June 23 curse! Danny Briere should be appointed ambassador to Russia at this point.
Only one man can end this war in Ukraine
Nope I am not going to "just watch a Canadian team", have not done that in forty years and not starting now. It is going to be an interesting game. I think on of the best play offs we have seen in a while.
As a Habs fan, I cheer for all canadian teams in the playoffs except the Leafs. So Go Oilers Go! bring that trophy back to Canada.
So many great stories with either team
People are free to root for whoever they want.Lots of Montrealers rooting for Florida teams,Boston surprisingly have a lot of fan in the east, lots of Quebec people still cheer for Colorado. Personnaly, there's like 15-16 canadian player on that roster in EDM,to me,it's significant.Joey and Ben Stelter story do put something special to me for the oilers.
I would like to see Paul Maurice winning a Cup,so either way i will cheer for something in the end.May the best team win monday!
Can you talk about how the Xcel energy center where the wild play is getting renamed? Not sure why it’s so quiet right now but none the less, it’s something to talk about.
As a Flyers fan next season just got much more exciting. There’s still a lot of work to be done, especially getting an elite 1C, but I have faith in Danny B and co.
My older sister who lives in the US is cheeringfor the Oilers. She's a Kings fan, said its been too long for a Canadian team. Me? It's win/win with a slight edge for the Oilers.
I'm just happy no matter what after game seven that I'll either no longer have to hear the Panthers haven't won a cup or no Canadian team has won in 30 years.
LFG!!! Cant wait to see Michkov in the Orange and Black!
Asking Shannon to cheer for a club that has sent two of this favorite teams golfing is a pretty tall order for anyone, you do you, let everyone else figure it out. Much love from Oil country !!!
“Nationalism is politics for basic people” Beau.
Love the gear man!
I’m a Canadian Devils fan. However I’m cheering for Edmonton for the Cup.
Thank you from a NJ native. It’s fashionable in the states to hate on NJ, not just the Devils but the state itself, so it’s nice to hear of support from the outside. LGD!
Wow, that is excellent news on Michkov. That was the hangup was whether or not he can get out of the KHL. This team needs scoring punch and finally someone who isn't a mucker and grinder.
As Canadian, it'd be great to have the Stanley Cup back but only if it's Montreal, Vancouver or Winnipeg, I don't really root for the other Canadian teams so I'm fine rooting for an American team, especially if it's one I like (Florida, Colorado, Detroit for exemple)
If you're a real, true, Canadian hockey fan, you will root for whomever you damn please and let others do the same.
I'm a Flames fan, and I would like to see the Oilers win. Just for the history really. Like the Oil or not, it has been a pretty amazing season for them. A reverse sweep win would be a fitting cap on that season. Go Flames! (next year of course...)
I like the Panthers franchise more than the Oilers. But I'm cheering for Canada to win a cup. If it wasn't for the unfair salary cap rules favouring US teams (needs to be on post tax dollars) I'd probably cheer for the Panthers.
Are you going to do a live stream reaction for game 7?
I don't think anyone has to root for any one team based on geography, I just happen to cheer for the Canadian team every single time because it's our game and there hasn't been a Cup parade down a Canadian city in 31 years. I remember in 1993, I actually cheered for the Kings because of Gretzky. Had I known what would happen after that, I definitely would have been happier about the Habs winning. Maybe if the Cup winners were slightly more balanced, some from Canada, some from the US, even if it was skewed heavily towards American teams, I might think very differently about it and cheer for a team based in the US. But after 31 years, I want it to be over. I want to talk about something else. I want to be able to talk about teams as individual teams that I like rather than Canada vs the US. But I can't yet. Go Oilers. Let's get this over with.
This is how I see it from the outside looking in. I want this for Canada as a whole. I think it would bring joy to a lot of Canadian hockey fans
It’s not about geography it’s about nationalism. Geography has nothing to with it.
As an American I’m not automatically rooting for FLA. I’m just hoping for a good exciting game 7.
Go Hershey Bears!
I'm in the US and our paper only had news about Edmonton. I'm not sure what that means. LOL
At this draft, or within the next month, Briere will get that #1C that is needed to grow with Michkov for the proper rebuild for the Flyers. The Flyers have Four 1st round picks in next 2 drafts and they have capital in TK, Frost and others if needed. Frost is not a #1c and at best a low end #2C-3C, which will be Coots's slot if they don't get another young Center. They have cap issues which can be relieved with trades or buyouts of Atkinson & Peterson and not signing TK to his rumored $10mil+AAV. They have young guys to pay now and this makes TK available as he does not fit their rebuild timeline and since Michkov is now there they won't need TK's name to sell tickets or sell merch any longer.
I’m a oiler fan and when calgary was doing well when we weren’t. I cheered for them when we were out. I get it though, I’d have a hard time cheering for Toronto because there media is so annoying. Go oil go!!!!!!!!
Whoever lifts the cup tomorrow it's a great story eitherway!
Come on Panthers! We’ve got a clean Slate. Let put or best skate forward and finish this!
I think it’s either gonna be a blowout for the Oilers, or a tight game that the Panthers win. Either way it’s gonna be talked about for sure!
Cmon San Jose look what you’ve done michkov and celebrini could have been a monster
My friend from high school played with Guschin and was also friends with Afanaysev so I think Guschin and Afanasyev are friends and thats part of that trade
50% of me want the Oilers to win for Canada as I'm British, but 50% want the Panthers as they were my like second team a few years ago when they were struggle and there was talk of them moving. So good luck to both. but in sport there is only one winner
I don't have to cheer for Edmonton as a Canucks fan, as a hockey fan though I want to see them come back now. Go Oilers!
Wiesblatt had a nice playoff run for Milwaukee too. 9 points in 15 games. Also Afanaseyev is an RFA so maybe a money saving move to drop a player they don’t see in their NHL plans
As a Preds fan this was not a minor trade we all loved Egor 😢
There was alot of hype around mitchell being an top 4 offensive defensemen in Chicago (who drafted him). Hope he finds his game :(
lol Shannon you said a minor trade by the San Jose Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers you said it around 139
At the u18 a 16 years old mitchkov was most impressive then Bedard , I honestly believe if Mitchkov was Canadian or US he would been the 1st overall pick. What that kid did at 17 in the khl was literally unprecedented, ( read twice unprecedented)
Rooting for the story!
I saw on Reddit that Afanasyev is going to be an RFA and wants a 1-way deal or he’s prepared to head back to the KHL. We’ll see how that goes in SJ and what it means for other unsigned depth RFAs (Bordeleau, Zadina, Kunin, Dellandrea).
It could be a similar situation as the Sharks acquiring Martin Kaut then losing him because he went back home to Czechia.
Good for the Flyers!
How do you attend meetups? Do you have to be a channel member? (Also do you have to bring your own stick for street hockey?)

@@TheHockeyGuy if you come back to Chilliwack over the summer I’ll be there!
Cheer for Edmonton because the story
Cheering for any Canadian team, so it's Oilers for me.
Imagine getting to game 7, but no Cup. It's rough, but winning a cup not long after made it easier as a Ducks fan.
I am rooting for Bettman to keep his clean Canada slate.
you dont have to, but its ok and it's fun if you are. I dont think its possible to not be enjoying this if you're simply a fan of Hockey. This has been the best final of my lifetime. And I'm a Hawks fan who had 3 of those.
I believe it was Jeff Marek who said there are plenty of Canadian players on the Panthers whose name gets on the Cup if they win, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I cried tears of happiness when we drafted him. I’m so excited. We finally have a ringer.
No dimples on the shoulders on that jersey...is that a new Fanatics jersey Shannon? 👀
There are dimples on this jersey's shoulders. To my knowledge, no one has the new jerseys yet.
Just a VQ thing on my end.then, I can *barely* see them when I zoom in lol
I am a Canadian that has cheered for the Bruins my whole life. However, in baseball, my two teams have been the Expos and then the Blue Jays. Even in basketball which I don't really follow, I was watching and cheering the Raptors on their championship run. I think hockey was different because when I was younger, everybody playing was Canadian anyway, and I did not live in Toronto or Montreal and neither of those teams had Bobby Orr. Now I only roll out the GO CANADA GO sign for international events where I will even cheer against Boston Bruin players if they are wearing a jersey without the Canadian flag on front.
As an Admirals fan, I beg to differ that the Afanasyev - Wiesblatt trade is minor. However, it is unique that teammates were traded for one another (because of Ozzy being on loan to the Ads). Wonder how many times that has happened.
Canadian fans definitely don't have to cheer for Edmonton, personally I am because I've always liked the team (Ottawa fan first), and would love to see McDavid get his cup, but people can do whatever they want
I was born in Calgary, so it's against my DNA to cheer for the Oilers. But if they win, yay great comeback story.
I lived in Canada for a good part of my life, but having some totalitarian tell me that I have to cheer for a Canadian team will, if anything, push me in the other direction. I have my own mind, and I will cheer for whoever I decide to cheer for, not what someone else tells me to cheer for.
With 7 Canadian teams in a 32 team league a Canadian team should win a cup every four and a half years. It doesn't work that way of course but after 32 years Edmonton probably has more support than they would have if one of our teams had won the cup four or five seasons ago. Whoever wins though, this will be remembered as the greatest final in years.
When was the last time a team won 2 Calder Cups in a row?
That's tough for Michkov. My mum passed away when I was 18. Very hard to cope with.
Hershey won back to back in 2009 and 10
Oilers fan here, our team isn't team Canada and no one who isn't a fan of the team itself is obligated to cheer for them. Who cares if no one else outside of Edmonton cheers for us I know if it was other Canadian teams in our place I wouldn't be cheering for them since I always wanted my team to be the one to bring the cup back to Canada first.
As a Canadian but more specifically as a Sens fan I'm rooting for the Oilers yes lol
Man I know we have one of the biggest games of all time coming up but I am stoked for next season already 😂 I’m a rangers fan but can’t wait to also follow year 2 Bedsy, the bunch of rookie talent coming in like Mack, Catton, and Levshunov. Hoping my Rangers can pull off an improbable move for Jake Guentzel.
Apparently Canadians are bing asked to prefer a kind of nationalism over a desire to root for (or against) their uniform of choice.
Since before the series started I wanted it to go to 7 games… but I didn’t want it to go to 7 games like this lolol. The reverse sweep is a great story though, really okay with either team winning.
I grew up just outside Edmonton starting at 6 years old, throughout the Gretzky era in the 80s and 90s. I'm not watching all of every game, but I'm rooting for Edmonton because I feel I have Edmonton in my blood. That doesn't mean Winnipeg isn't still my #1 team, tho. I have Winnipeg in my bones.
Go Jets! (And the Oil, conditionally. lol)
So I think personally it depends on ur age. For a lot of older fans its "no im not cheering for the oilers just cause theyre Canadian" but for younger fans such as myself (granted im 29 so....) we're cheering for the oilers because we DESPERATELY WANT TO SEE A CANADIAN TEAM WIN.
As a non-Canadian, I would imagine most Canadians would be pulling for Edmonton. It seems like there would be some pride in having the cup back in its country of origin. Just a guess from the outside looking in
nah, the annoying commercials and talking heads on tv would want you to think that, but most fan bases are just as divided as any other sport.
It's just not possible for every hockey watching Canadian to cheer for a Canadian team in the playoffs regardless who it is. No matter who your favorite Canadian team is, there's always 1 (if not 2) Canadian teams a person will hate because of rivalries with their own team. I wouldn't expect penguins fans to cheer for flyers etc 😂
But Oilers fans will tell you that you aren't a real Canadian if you don't throw away your team loyalty and root for them instead. 😂 Wonder how they'd feel if the Flames were sitting in the finals right now with everyone demanding the Oilers fans cheer them on
Im a canucks fan and i’ll be rooting for Edmonton tomorrow! Bring the cup home!
After they embarrassed your own team in Game 7 in your own building?! Kind of jaded if you ask me!
Hey I'm cheering for the Vancouver Oilers....I live in an alternate universe. Go Oil GO!!!
Man, Reinbacher better be worth it let me tell you.
Retrospect is 20/20. If michkov never came to NHL, you wouldn't necessarily say that.
Popcorn should be fine and we'll also need to see how michkov actually plays
@@razvanzamfir1545 Kinda disagree to be honest. Whole fanbase was screaming for the organization to draft Michkov at the time, even if it took up to 5 years for him to come to the NHL
@@MaverickWall238 I agree with the sentiment. But you'd have to think scouts know something more than fan bases. Least we forget, we weren't the only ones not biting on him. Very similar to previous year's draft which turned out to be the correct choice. Time will tell
Doesn’t seem like much of a trade for Nashville. They deal a 6’ 4” guy who was very productive for their top farm team, for a 5’ 10” 31st overall 22-year old who’s done not much at all for SJ’s AHL club. I take it the $ factor for one side was the key here?
Isles fan, rooting for Florida because: 1. Florida’s never won a cup. Everyone should win it once. 2. Was always an Okposo fan. 3. Would like to see the Islanders win their 5th cup before the Oilers get their sixth. But in the end, I don’t really care. I’m happy it went 7.
As an oilers fan, I welcome support from any Canadian, but don’t expect it. I welcome support from Americans (my mind thinks of Boston and nyr fans who want revenge lol) and of everyone who loves hockey. But I also welcome the doubters, we’ve proven them wrong up to now
I read "Michkov to be Released" and my heart stopped thought we had another Gauthier situation . WHEW
The Jets have that situation now with Rutger McGroarty.
I could take the quick out and say that I have never seen an Oilers fan cheer for the Flames against any team in any play-offs. But, it goes further than that. There are a handful of teams in the league that I just don't like. Edmonton just happens to be one of them.
I think Edmonton's fans are proud, and loud, enough to cheer for their own team in the SCF. I don't have a horse in this race, but I'm tired of "only" watching the elimination games already.
I am rooting for Oilers because I want to see Hyman get his cup
crickets
Regionalism is definitely a thing in NHL. It's why you're not likely going to see a Philly fan cheering on the Penguins anytime soon. When the Habs went to the Finals in the 2021 Playoffs, it was pretty easy for most people in the West to cheer for them; maybe not in Winnipeg, although there's a big Francophone population in Manitoba. There was also a ton of people cheering for Ottawa in the West when they went to the Finals. It's not the same when you bottle almost all (Winnipeg the outlier) of the Canadian teams together into two divisions where they can get angsty with each other.
Dear Hockey Guy-great channel, epic show. I think all Canadians should be rooting for the Oilers, simply to get the cup back into Canada again. It has been too long. Also, I live in Toronto, so it wasn't hard to switch allegiances...
