    Nice vid bro, I've been listening to Iranian music (classical only) more often since the last few years (my musical background is Arabic/Iraqi) so I'm trying to learn more about dastgahs. I'm glad that you tried to play something for Shajarian/Meshkatian. I really hope to see some videos of you explaining and playing dastgahs, especially that you're coming from an Iranian background, but it's up to you bro. Keep it up.

    Singing the melody is something I do poorly - possibly, since I don't have an absolute (?) hearing... A good skill for sure

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому

      Absolute pitch is not needed for middle eastern music. What you need to develop is relative pitch. Keep trying to sing the melody and you will improve and get better. It is the key.

    Thank you so much sir! This is what I've been looking for. Although frankly it still hard for me personally to implement this method on turkish ud taksims (which usually has a complicated and very fast pattern). Do you have any advice?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  Рік тому

      Aim for figuring out the main melody without the fast picking patterns. It may take a lot of time and experience if you don't have a teacher for the really technical stuff.

    • @AliSyauqiBilfaqih2
      @AliSyauqiBilfaqih2 Рік тому

      @@OudforGuitarists yeah, I just figured out that Turkish Ud playing is a very specific and complex topic, I just found out what is kromatik, çarpma, and some technical stuff. For sure require time and passion to master it. Anyways, thank you sir!

    That’s exactly what we have been doing for decades.. we listen, memorize, trying to play what we memorized.. Overtime you’d understand the oud more and you’ll be able to play what you really want to do

    How can you define what a taqsim is?

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  5 років тому +4

      One way might be to go back to the meaning of the word, which means to divide and thus the meaning of solo as far as I've been told. In Persian, we say taknavazi which basically means solo playing. But a taksim can be pre-composed or improvised, it is still a solo.
