Mate you have deadset invented the modern day centre console to suit the Australian travelling dream…. that’s so sick …. so much custom work done …. I freaking love that boat
I can see why you get the comments but it all comes down to personal preference and what suits you. Full credit for taking on such a monster. Well done for all the effort put in by so many.
Cheers mate glad it helped with some ideas. Having a step up and being able to run the rest of your house accessories via 12v lithium has some big advantages.
Thanks for sharing, Greg. You have been dreaming this dream for a while. Great to see it come to fruition. Love the leaning post, and the bedroom speaks for itself. Tight lines!
Great video and awesome build process, well thought out to suit your needs. Be great to get an estimate on boat purchase, outboard cost and general refurb bill. Most people don’t understand the cost to complete these works and also under estimate the cost of a new build. Would be a great ball park for people who are unsure if the should try and complete what you’ve done, build with a plate boat builder or just buy off the shelf. Once again great build and really helps people understand what goes into a boat build 👍
hey mate thanks heaps. Its really hard to give a value on this build but as you can imagine this boat has had a lot quality equipment and man hours put into it. Just to give a simple idea but. Hull, 25 to 30k, outboard 18k, custom alloy trailer 8k, Minnkota 5k- thats already around 60k so now add electronics, Lithium set up, stereo, switches, floor coverings etc etc and it blows out pretty fast. There's a reason we are seeing big dollars on small boats these days.
Haven't found it an issue mate but I may weld a strip of alloy on top of the bar to give it more surface area for better comfort on those longer trips.
Awesome build mate and a great and informative video. Love the reasoning between carpet and foamy stuff. You chose well. The MarineTuft plug has got you my support. MikeB
turned out a great boat Greg, love the sleeping /storage arrangements and that windscreen is amazing. OMM could learn a lot from this design. I bought one years ago and the thing that let the boat down the most was the poor quality ugly welding.
I'm always interested in how good, experienced fishos set up their 4th or 5th boat, and yours had lots of gems. What a weapon! I loved the seat back/lean post, the esky in the top of the kill tank, and of course the very versatile sleeping arrangement. Well done Greg. I can only imagine the hours and days of thought that went into each little design, but gees didn't it come up well! I'm glad you took it out in the rough stuff too. How did you rate the ride for both harshness and dryness? Probably a bit late now, but in future videos if you could tell us what you had in your old boat and how you upgraded or solved those problems with what you have now, that would be great. Maybe also other solutions that didn't end up getting the nod and why. I'm a details man 😉 BTW, Nyalic is easy to repair if any fuel melts a patch. I've been using it for alloy bullbars, and lots of other marine corrosion prevention projects for over 40 yrs. Happy Fishing for 2024 and beyond.
Hey Tez, thanks heaps mate, I'm glad you liked it as much as I did. For a 5 mtr boat it rides very well and pretty dry too. I've had it in some ordinary conditions and it handles it better than I thought a boat of that size would. There wasn't much I left off this build other than trim tabs and a T-top. Tabs were price thing and T-top gets in the way of filming with shadows etc but these things can be added down the track if I want them. I agree about Nyalic mate. I've had to redo a couple small spots and it's a very easy process. Touching areas with sun cream is the biggest issue I'm having with it at present. It's acts like paint stripper. Thanks again mate.
Thanks Shorty she turned out pretty sweet i reckon. You could fit length ways no worries but not sure the width is big enough for those monster agates mate lol
I think you nailed it Greg! Been wanting a video of this type for years. Shows you both positive and negatives , great tips and sound well thought out advice. I'm looking at a 5 to 5.5 mtr boat myself in 2024 , probably do away with the large casting lid and camping space and replace with a shorter one for just casting and a lid for storage. Everything else as well as electrics is spot on. Could you PM me costs? Cheers Steve

Classy and very suitable. Was hanging for this conclusion. Highlights are the 36v? step up and forward berth and lowlights was the fuse box. Had to be pretty picky to pick a lowlight.
Hi Greg, love the video! Just wondering what sounder did you put the TM 185M transducer on? And what was the reason for that particular transducer? Chris
Thanks mate glad you liked it. I can put the TM185m on both the FVC800 or TZ3 but i've been mostly running it on the FCV800. I went the TM185M to fish the deeper water with a reasonably narrow beam otherwise I use the TM165hw majority of the time.
Nice build on the little ripper, im in the process of looking for a build centre console round 6m looking to do fitout myself to save money , yer electrical can be full on hopefully I can do the wiring but will still need some ideas
Nice mate i like the bed idea. I used to run 2 swags under a similar sized casting deck in a 4.4 mclay fortress, love the over nighters👌 My only question is, when do the trim tabs go on? 😉
Great video. Also, couldn’t recommend Scott from Ocean Logic enough. Done a great deal of work for me on a 70ft yacht I was skippering. We had a range of very complex issues which Scott sorted out no worries.
Thanks mate and yeah everyone did such a great job. I've been using Suzi outboards for nearly 25 years and can honestly say I've never had one single issue with them. Reliable and unreal on fuel. Can't comment on the mercs as I've never owned one.
Bloody nice boat, I see you got quite a few stainless screws going into the alloy. My boat had corrosion around every stainless screw so I replaces them with alloy rivets.
Yeah unfortunately it comes with owning a platey mate but every bolt has been coated with tefgel to slow the process down. If it was painted like my big boat then I use sikaflex and rivets to avoid the corrosion.
Mate congratulations on this truly gorgeous boat! the attention to detail is second to none!! I do have one question though mate. it may be bit silly sorry🙄 Regarding the fuel economy with the dash cluster showing 3km per Litre at that 4000 rpm. Is that fuel economy just purely based off engine rpm? or is that cluster connected to GPS? reason I say this is for example if your trim is terrible and weight is badly positioned on the boat how can just engine rpm alone give that figure? lets say your doing it all wrong for example and doing 4000 rpm but only getting 18 knots but then you trim and shift weight then get 21 knots with no rpm change that would be better fuel economy right. So I guess my long winded question hahah is , is GPS involved with that fuel economy in that dash cluster?
Thanks John glad you liked it mate. The suzi gauge is connected to a gps source which in my case is networked through my Furuno TZ3. It combines this data with real time fuel flow on the outboard to give you a range of fuel economy data. Its very accurate as confirmed when filling up at the pump. Cheers
That is exactly what I’ve been looking for for the last 6 months, I’d hate to know the cost of what you’ve had done but definitely worth it, I’m going to have to bite the bullet and go for it I think. It is a proper ripper.
Very nice layout and fairly dry as well by the look of it. You can maybe add a little cubby on the back of that removable seat backrest for lures etc. for easy access or another pad and then you don't have to reverse it when in front and if you put a pivot on the bottom of the seat and a stopper you can flip it over for a back facing seat when trolling
Thanks heaps mate. For where I garage the boat i need to turn it around a corner by hand so only possible with single axle trailer. It's a custom built alloy trailer and will handle it no probs
yeah I had thought about doing that but not required at this stage. When i have it open i can throw a mosquito net over it and if it rains I just close it.
The monitoring system is good bit i feel the installer have over sold it. That system only works with a phone if the phone is nearby. If the boat is in the garage and you want to check the batteries, you have to go near the boat. I know this because i DIY my trailer using about the same system.
Not sure how this was over sold mate. The system and and the way it works makes perfect sense to me. I only want to see the system when I'm fishing or near the boat anyway. With the Cerbo that's added and some other additions you can make this information viewable at all times but this isn't something I find one bit necessary.
this is absolutely amazing! don't ever sell it! i was dead set on udek but after watching your video will consider carpet, they definitely not as ugly as the traditional marine carpet i had in mind

As i might have mentioned previously, pricing it is really hard as I had help from lots of different companies and did a lot of work myself. A hull like that would be 30k to get built, Alloy Trailer 8k, Outboard 18k and then the fitout. As you can see it adds up mighty fast.

Thanks for the sleeping idea. I’ve just started to convert an old but good glass cuddy cabin hull into a large open tiller steer.
Zip on canvas sides for the casting deck to make a tent would make it perfect in the tropics. Top work Greg.
I agree, I really didn't like the idea of being trapped in a Coffin on the water. To much shit can go wrong and I'd want an easy way to bail out.
yeah mate already been looking how I can do that but will see how it goes as is first.
That’s possibly the coolest and most versatile boat I’ve ever seen. I’ve just finished building an all rounder but this is next level.
Thanks heaps Adam it's much appreciated and I'm glad you liked it. Pretty stoked with how it turned out in the end.

@@gregswickedfishing not a cheap mod but worth every cent. Changes the boat especially offshore. You can always add them later! Looks mint mate! How much did the entire boat and gear cost you roughly if you dont mind me asking..
What’s the lead time!? Take my god dam money 😂
hahahaha I never want to do another one lol
👍👍
Same comment as last time, breakdown on the costs.
As i might have mentioned previously, pricing it is really hard as I had help from lots of different companies and did a lot of work myself. A hull like that would be 30k to get built, Alloy Trailer 8k, Outboard 18k and then the fitout. As you can see it adds up mighty fast.
@@gregswickedfishing when you say you had help you mean they gave you better rates or work for free in exchange for promotion?
The parking situation at bayside suzuki is totally out of hand

Thanks mate
Spend all that money then buy some plastic $15 rod holders that the foam claps out on after the first use 😂
The hard plastic ones can fracture the high end light weight rods. Don't ask me how I know.
@@gwizzler get some proper ones fabricated
Bugger all options around and these ones were actually pretty good quality. Great for the lighter fishing outfits.
