Try bending the hook to the left or right of the head offset it a bit we do this all the time on the gulf coast for tarpon helps a lot with the hookup ratio
You don’t need a Van Staal man. Just get a reel like the Saragosa, Slammer III, Daiwa BG or BGMQ, Certate SW, Twinpower SW, but the best way to find a reel that you like is to feel it in a shop. If I had the money I would definitely get a Saltiga, but that’s my opinion. You might like a different reel than the Van Staal, but you’ll never really know unless you feel the reel in your hands. Good luck man and slay those fish!
@@frenchtoast963 staals specialize in situations when ur dunking ur reels, other than that you’ll be better off with a smoother/ better dragged saragosa or twin power
Sick content as usual...no 100lb'ers jumping in the boat like the last video but that monster you hooked was definitely pushing 200lb. Can't believe you got it boatside on baitcasting tackle!
That looks like so much fun got me shaking just watching definitely on my bucket list just came across your channel the other day hope to see more new ones
What day was this? Sounds like Saturday with all that wind!! i was there that day but tried the bay first with no luck..Didn't want to run the canal in my Gheenoe with all that traffic focused on the backwater that day..
fuckkkk. had to come back and rewatch this if my brother mike. what a legend haha. we gotta make a fishing video together one day i think he’d like that. i have my skiff up here in miami/haulover area. and his is now mine as well, down in south mingo/keys area
I think the reason you are losing so many fish that day, is your lack of a good hook set. You go tight, real tight, but you don't keep hammering the hook into the mouth of the tarpon. You're fishing like you have a circle hook on. That first fish was not close to 190lbs, more like a buck twenty. Still an awesome bite bite.
Yes I can agree with the hook set 🤣 but gonna have to disagree on a buck twenty as I have caught a 215lber in the Miami River as per bone fish and tarpon trust and this fish was very close in girth and length to that fish I do realize it doesn’t look as big on GoPro but take it as you like I do appreciate you watching the vids brotha 💪🏻
Baitcasters have terrible drags Spinning reels have a better drag systems these type of fish like tuna 140 Penn squidder 146 would work I guess w 80 lb braid and 50 leader u can just thumb and hold on
this time hes not screaming “on the 1k”
🤣

Which knot are using to braid

If you don’t mind me asking what size jighead do you use for the NLBN?
I mention it in the beginning of the video 🤙
@@FLBassmaster shoot I miss that part thank you dude your content is amazing

What the best baitcast rod for a shimano tranx 400
8’ Daiwas are light and agile, inshore proteus

Boom chickee Boom! 😁
Some big tarpon. Maybe too big. You have some nice equipment there- don’t drop that VS in the drink!
FL (or Anyone)what size TranX is that?(300 or 400 series) I've been looking for a bait caster like that, low profile that can handle Tarpon
201
Huge Tarpons wow!! That Staal sounds a little rough though lol
Put me on a snook over 35inches I’ll give u $150🤣
This video hard asf
No u don’t have to bow to the tarpon but I do personally
Crazy action🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Amazing tarpon
Mantab yes keren ok 👍👍👍👍👍
Bro you didnt bow at all you may have lamded that fish if you bowed to the king
Me and many captains have a reason for not bowing. when u bow you create slack in the line causing the hook to come loose if not all the way thru
More tarpon plssss
Hell yeah🔥
That’s tooo cool
