My priorities were a little different. I wanted something with a little more easy access and to deflect water. As you stated; I as well have no faith in commercial "dry zippers ". I bought a Molle ll waist pack and added one of those thin cutting boards to the inside to give it shape and rigidity. For $15 so far so good.
@@RiverKingsKayak might have been a little selfish, but I'm a finish carpenter by trade and need a better storage spot for my 7 kayaks and paddleboard. I have to come up with an idea for my trailer also this summer. That looked like a nice custom setup you had there.
Thanks DF! I do have a system. Mostly, I pack my items by similarity. Also, I use the same bags for the same items every time to so as to keep an order and familiarity while on trips...this would be a great video! Thanks for the suggestion!
Well Pete, when I went shopping for my deck bag I asked myself WWTSD? I went that route because I was powerless. I like your deck bag though. BTW, were you wearing pants in this video?
HI ! WHICH CAMPASS ARE YOU USING OR WHICH ONE DO YOU LIKE ? THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG WITH YOU ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT YEAR ! GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS & LIFE ! ENJOYED !
I think it's hilarious that after all that stuff you own you skimp out for 8 years to buy a $70 bag lol ahahhaa that's amusing because clearly you're not short on cash. But thanks to you I've discovered the Overboard company in general.....ty sir
“This is a great bag” - it’s broken I noticed that the straps that hold it to the deck are on top...that would essentially crush anything inside.... if flipped you can no longer access the zippier.....this just looks like a shitty design all round. Also, A seamstress could have easily installed a new zipper for like 10$
Thanks for taking the time to comment. First off, It has never crushed any contents in the +1,000 miles of river travel I have used it on from raging class 4 to the ocean and everything in between. Second, why on earth would you flip it?! The stability of the design comes from how it attaches. If flipped, it would be loose and floppy - further stressing the seams and stitching. Third, no chance a seamstress will re-install a waterproof sealing zipper and guarantee the integrity of the waterproofing of the bag for $10. As they are manufactured, there are no stitching points anyway. The seams are welded. Fourth, this is by far the best deck bag I have ever used. which is why after so many many years and +1,000 miles of use, I have purchased another.
Thanks for the review, you've saved days of my life not having to trawl the web for deck bag reviews, just ordered one! Cheers.
Right on Fred!
Thanks for the review! 8 years is a long time to test a piece of gear, especially on trips like yours, Pete. Very impressed with the durability.
Yes sir! Thanks GB!
we were looking for a great deck bag and came across your video and review. Awesome and thank you very much!!!!
Right on Shawn! Thanks!
I went down the deck bag rabbit hole not to long ago, that was one of my finalists good to know it works for future endeavors.
Right on Derek! What did you end up with?

Hey Pete! Thank you for taking the time on the review! Do you have a particular method, system, or sequence that you use to pack your dry bags??
Thanks DF! I do have a system. Mostly, I pack my items by similarity. Also, I use the same bags for the same items every time to so as to keep an order and familiarity while on trips...this would be a great video! Thanks for the suggestion!

Zipper lube McNetts
I use that, but this was way gone...
Any gear that last that long deserves to be replaced with like kind. ESPECIALLY the way that you use a piece of gear.
Im with you on that one Brad!
Zipper lube
Yes sir! This, however was a little beyond that. It was the fabric around the zipper that was giving up...
😂
