Great video, and I love the matching XJ's! I've been putting this small project off for years, maybe this will give me the motivation to finally get it taken care of!
Wow perfect timing, just discovered today that my breather was in two pieces. Couldn't find a part online, but now I know i can replace it myself! Thanks a lot sir! Also, does it need to be a 5/16" hose? could it be a 3/8" to make it easier to fit?
My YJ differential plus is leaking oil After I drive it For more than 30m I’m thinking the plug is damage I should change the whole thing ? Thank you you been very helpful
@@jmarceth5 make sure it's not overfill, that can cause a leak. Also are you sure it's not leaking from the cover? These can also leak on the internal seals. Is it your front or rear Differential?
@@MajorWeakness is the rear differential . When I took the plug to fill up with some oil was not leaking at all I had to put some oil, I don’t see no oil from the hub from either side
@@jmarceth5 I would remove the cover, clean it out with brake cleaner, let dry completely as you don't want brake cleaner mixes with your new gear oil.
I never noticed that, I just checked and you are right, one of my xjs has pre cats and the other doesn't, looks to be factory but I'll do more investigating
I like that you call the differentials pumpkins. Very informative and straightforward. Thank you
Glad it helped
People like you are what make owning an XJ so much easier. Thanks for this video!
Thank you, glad it helped!
Thanks so much! Easy fix, and thank you for including the parts list in the description. Major help!
Glad it helped!
Wow, that's a great example of a chewed up vent line. I think this is a good topic as many people don't even think of this as an issue.
Frankly I never thought of it until I saw the chewed up line on both XJs
Great video. Thanks for making it.
You are welcome!

For additional abrasion protection. Take heater hose. Split it. Zip tie it to the vent hose where there could be rubbing or pinching.
Great tip!

Possible to use 3/8 hose but might need a clamp

It could be the plug, you can change it for cheap. Thanks for watching
Hey I fix the plug and I still smell oil and see some oil were the plug is located . What you think it could be

So the end that goes towards the engine. It don’t have to be plugged in anywhere??
Correct, it just ends in pointing up with that little vent cap
Nice job Major. What year is that XJ?I noticed it had the split exhaust manifold but no pre-cats....
Both are 2000 model
I thought the 2000 models had the pre-cats?
