I had a 1976 2002. It was wonderful. It was quite fast. I sold it because my former wife "asked" me to do so. I got next to nothing for it. Oh, and it had a genuine Nardi steering wheel. The guy who bought it from me sold the steering wheel for $1200 on eBay. This was in the early 2000s. It grieves me to this day. Great video Jeff - as usual!
Missing friends, since 1971 I've had 3 2002's. Last one "Gus" a 73 tii which I kept for 25 yrs then selling him in 2002 :o( He sat in my garage for 9 yrs while I was trying to get my head together after 4 yrs 63-67 in the USAF and coming home and being shamed by people. Anyway I had a '70 m10 motor sitting around so Rocky in Holderness, NH build me a motor. ;o) Dual Webber 40 DCOE's, a light street cam ;o) One night out for a ride I picked up a pizza and cold hop brew. I was headed out for a hoot up to the Kanc Hwy, lucky me 5 mi from my house ;o) As I passed the ranger station I noticed three sport bikes stopped and talking. I thought "someone to play with"? As I schooted around the curves that follow the Swift River I noticed the bikes I had passed where hanging behind me ;o) I'll wait for a slice of pizza as the aroma fills the car. We passed each other along the route to the summit of the pass. Couple of times the rear kicked out ;o) At the summit parking area I stopped to chat with the bikes riders I had played with. They commented about t"Gus" and his ability to play with them! I said "yea, if I wasn't eating the pizza I would have kicked Gus up a notch"! ;o) . ;o)
You should use manual focus on the camera on the hood shooting thru the windshield. Keep the videos coming! Getting better and better. Glad to see more content from you. Don't stop.
+Buddy Hollywood copying a comment reply from below re: this It is manual focus, it's a Canon 5d mkii - it was that I forgot to use this rubber strap I have to hold the lens in place. The 24-105 has a problem where it doesn't hold focal distance if you tilt it up or down, the lens slides. Usually I remember to put the band in place... Unfortunately this time I forgot it.
could not agree more the old bm's were great e36 backwards iv got 2 e36 and an e30 and everything after feels chea and nasty my dream bm has always been a 2002 turbo or an e30 m3 the 2 best cars they ever made
I have had a few of these in the past (not nearly as nice as this one). Still, they were awesome!!! Not really fast, but great to drive. Liked the style. Loved the sound. That's it, I have to get another one!!
Surprisingly I don't hate that sound system/head unit in that car. If it was an E30 M3 or 3.0CSL I'd cry heresy, but they made about a million 2002s and they're pretty bare so it doesn't look totally "off."
Well done restoration, but the speaker system and screen could not be more out of place. It made sense on a 90's car like their NSX, which is close enough, but lacked modern amenities.
+Stefan Wojcik I have to disagree here, I think they did a great job especially in the center stack area and the lower kick panels. The fit of the head unit works nicely with the square lines of the car. Now, I do realize this is an area where people are going to disagree though... modern audio in older cars is a touchy subject. Still I think Clarion took the right approach here, personally. -JG
+The Hooniverse it's definitely a professional job and tasteful but I personally don't think it is really needed or looks right. STILL a great car overall and I could just listen to the sweet engine instead. Great video as always. love how open the interior is and the giant greenhouse made for some cool shots.

+GunfightersINC Right... they upgraded it tastefully. There's no hulking LS motor under the hood. No unnecessary race seats for a street car. No tacky wheels, but nearly period correct pieces that work quite well.
The Hooniverse "Restomod (restoration + modern parts/technology) draws from all the amazing advancements in automobile technology over the past 40+ years to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of the classic car. A restomod car has the timeless appearance of the original, but the outdated guts of the car have been replaced with the more modern, high-performance parts of today. You achieve the same great look, but your vintage car will be revved up with all the latest bells and whistles to create a much better ride for the owner." .. that car is the textbook definition of restomod, I'm not trolling, just calling a spade a spade. It's a beautiful car and you guys do great videos. Thanks for the hard work and keep it up.
+GunfightersINC I get that... It's just that when I hear the term I immediately think of overdone Camaros and Chargers and what not. I see your point though for sure.
+The Hooniverse i agree the point of old cars is there soul and many builders get the balance wrong because they only care about looks period upgrades and finesse get over looked in favor of ripping all the guts out and replacing them with soulless modern connivance that dull the driving sensation and personality rather than enhance it its all about the smiles per hour
+The Hooniverse. i agree with you. By modern interpretation of the word restomod, this is not really it. Its like 95% stock. Always thought a restomod was a classic car with modern chasis, modern drive train, modern motor, modern wheel fitment, updated interior with classic body. Like most street pro touring muscle cars....
Love those 02 BMWs. But they're not coupés, they're 2 doors sedans. 2 doors don't make a coupé, there is more to it. The NewClass coupés were the 2000C and 2000CS.
+Anders Lauge Prip I don't care what an automaker claims... 2 doors = coupe/4 doors=sedan. The Benz CLS is a sedan. The Audi A7 is damn near a hatchback sedan. The BMW 2002... is a coupe. It's not as beautiful as the CS cars, but it's still a coupe.
+The Hooniverse Nope, I still claim you're wrong. 2 doors with frameless frontdoors, roll down rear side windows and no B-pillar defines a coupé. I have never heard anyone before you claim the 02 BMWs to be coupés.
Love the video and the car! I'm working on one with a friend now. 71' with period correct mods, Ireland eng. parts, weber dcoe's, etc. If you're ever in New Orleans, pass by and check it out. You can see it on my Instagram, renouvelledesign. Follow back!

Yowza, 1200 for the wheel?! Damn...
Great review. The BMW 2002 is one of my favorite cars, Clarion did a fantastic job on this build
Makes me miss my old '72.
The 2002 BMW has always been my favorite! So Clean!
Love the camera angle from the hood. Magic!
Made me a proud 2002 owner.
Great video, Jeffrey! I love cars from that era.
What a beautiful machine
The shot where I turn the car on... reminds me of Rick & Morty.
A hearty high-five if you can guess why. -JG
02's are just such lovely cars and have a cool rating of over 1000 Megafonzies! Love it.
Yay for Chris Zabriskie music ;)

Love the video. My neighbor has a 2002 and I really want to buy it off of him.
Oh and the latest podcast about UA-cam comments, fucking podcast gold.
I had a stereo in my 2002 for about a week ;)
nice build

Well done!
She is very pretty! (The 2002) Greetings from Pretoria South Africa.
Anyone else notice the backwards-mounted front tire in the opening shot?
car looks soo good!

Great video one suggestion edit out from 4:18-4:58 plz thanks 👍👍👍
wow, that is amazing!!

I hate when I am driving around my old, hard earned, cars and some truck, like the one at 5:30, is riding my ass...

Awesomeness
Manual focus will fix the jumpy lens :-)

oh okay. Nice video and car too!
I like it.
Oh yea
They didn't restomod it.. "coilovers, swaybars, BBS wheels"

@@anderslaugeprip3733 agree!
I hate to be contradictory, but I don't think BMW ever made a 2002 turbo from the factory.
+iraeich They did... but very few, only in '74 I believe.
+iraeich Less than 1,700 were built but they did make them. -JG
A fabulous restoration.
Could do without all the Clarion crap, though.
Title made me think this was a Petrolicous video, glad to see it wasn't!
+fiveletters ....ok

Anyone else cringe every time his ring would smack the wooden steering wheel ?
