I like the car, save for two things: -I personally prefer the early 02's with circular rear lights. -The touch-screen is a no-go. If you have to have one, put it in the glovebox, or under some removeable cover.
+Stephen Silfies (Racer Freddy) Anyone here who gave up The Smoking Tire cuz it wasnt as good as /Tuned with Matt Farrah and just got an unexpected gift?
My heart ached with pain at the end when they showed a touch screen and 10" subs. Rip all that modern audio out of the car and you've got something special. You don't need any music except what the engine makes on a beauty like that.
Literally started laughing out loud when they got to the stereo. All this "period correct" awesomeness then the the stereo, lol. (Super rad that they're going to auction it for charity though.)
Being a restomod, I don't think I could've stopped with an M10. It just screams for an S14, but I definitely get the desire to keep the stock engine, and the crazy cost of an S14 now.
When he said he’d like to be in the South of France in the car, I get that, we took my little BMW convertible to the south of France this year and it was wonderful. It’s not a classic, but it was fun anyway and I expect it will be a classic someday, meanwhile we just enjoy it
Whoa! Memories: I bot a 1972 2002 Tii from the Galles folks in Albuquerque, drove it to Miami without AC middle of summer in '85. The car was best at stoplights against unsuspecting GTI's and could take just about any hatch off the line with all of 140 horses. Put an ad in the car trader magazines and a guy from Dominica flew to Miami and gave me the same $4000 I'd paid for it 2 years earlier and took it out.
Gorgeous 2002. I have 1600-2 with 6 volt electricity from 1967 and it's registered as an "historical vehicle" so it's 100% original and mods are forbidden. I miss your 2002 stabilizer bars at front and and rear axle when i'm driving it. 😀
On the other hand, you'd be pretty happy to see them doing this video if you did have one. I'd do what the other guy said anyway, get an E21, they're half the value and a lot less well known. They're a bit more modern, still dead gorgeous looking and you'll be seen as having made the cool alternative choice, rather than the 2002 which everyone already wants.
My only complaint about the car is that they didn't build it on an older Roundie car (pre '74). Otherwise I'm so filled with envy of this car that I can't even.
Very nice coupe ! I have a 1976 unrestored. I have considered putting a X1 engine in it but I know that 200 HP in a 2000 lb car would require many mods. The X1 does have a 2 liter4 cylinder with twin cams and dual turbos.
had one in 1968, the third one in the country. at that time there was nothing better, nothing. that was over 40 years ago, now i would rather have an alfa spyder
Lovely car. Learn driving by 1975 Model. Beautiful ride and exceptional handling comparing its age car. But this car except the look is totally different. Still the best!
It's a very nice restored 2002, exactly how I like it. But there is a little shame @ 4.07 sec, just next to the indicator. The gap has to be filled normally...
I like the car, save for two things:
-I personally prefer the early 02's with circular rear lights.
-The touch-screen is a no-go. If you have to have one, put it in the glovebox, or under some removeable cover.
Agreed!
This car is absolutely perfect in my opinion save those two things.
Anybody here from the One Take on the Smoking Tire?
meee
+Stephen Silfies (Racer Freddy) Anyone here who gave up The Smoking Tire cuz it wasnt as good as /Tuned with Matt Farrah and just got an unexpected gift?
+Leofred Probably not that many ;)
My heart ached with pain at the end when they showed a touch screen and 10" subs. Rip all that modern audio out of the car and you've got something special. You don't need any music except what the engine makes on a beauty like that.
This makes me miss drive
This BMW is gorgeous
/TUNED is back! It's a good day :D
+Roads Untraveled and you didn't have to use your AK.
I love classic cars! What an Era!!
That single center exhaust is awesome
Adorable classic car - love the analogue era.
So stoked that Tuned is back in action.
What a beauty! I had a 2002 tii so many years ago and wished it was here still
Beautiful work. I’m really impressed!
my dad had a 2002tii as his first car, amazing things.
Thank you for bringing /TUNED back!!!! I've been wondering if theses days were behind us. So happy!
Smoking tire and /TUNED review of the same car, back to back! So cool
Literally started laughing out loud when they got to the stereo. All this "period correct" awesomeness then the the stereo, lol. (Super rad that they're going to auction it for charity though.)
Another /TUNED episode is back? Finally
Those wheels are incredible...
Tuned is back?! It's been years!
Ich hatte einen 2002er mit runden Heckleuchten , eines der schönsten Autos die ich je hatte ...
TUNED!!!! Finally!!! Started getting tired of one takes
+Jamaican Stiggy Haven't we all.
Man, I missed an honest Drive episode again. Thanks Matt!
how can they dislike this....
I miss my 3 versions of 2002's. Black, Garnet and Orange.. The start of the "Sports Sedan" craze!
The bmw 2002 is such a nice car i love it!
Love 2002's, this is such a clean build. Awesome how your going to auction it off as well and give the money to charity.
cat looks flawless definitely a car worth buying good luck at the auction! and we need more tuned videos they come out really great!
This car looks delicious!
The 2002 here is beautiful inside and out! The BBS really suit the car too.
Glad tuned is back
Being a restomod, I don't think I could've stopped with an M10. It just screams for an S14, but I definitely get the desire
to keep the stock engine, and the crazy cost of an S14 now.
The classics never die.
THIS JUST MADE MY DAY! Dream Retro car
Words can't describe that car. See you at Barrett Jackson auction.
Finally ,Tuned Episodes!!!
Beautiful car!
another "TUNED" episode. Finally!!!
They are very strong these Germans! It is prodigious! I had the same there is of it 30 years old and I regret having sold it.
What an incredible car. So much taste in that set up. Stylish as fuck.
When he said he’d like to be in the South of France in the car, I get that, we took my little BMW convertible to the south of France this year and it was wonderful. It’s not a classic, but it was fun anyway and I expect it will be a classic someday, meanwhile we just enjoy it

Oh my god, an actual review from Matt. The one takes have fallen stale.
I WOULD GIVE MY SOUL,TO HAVE MY 02 BACK...MY E30 IS NICE,BUT MY 02 WAS A BEAST!!...Awesome bimmer!!!
Hey Matt. Both vids on this car was very enjoyable. Well done.
Gorgeous 2002. I have 1600-2 with 6 volt electricity from 1967 and it's registered as an "historical vehicle" so it's 100% original and mods are forbidden. I miss your 2002 stabilizer bars at front and and rear axle when i'm driving it. 😀
Too much music, not enough engine sound...
This car is perfection. Would not call it a canyon carver, but definitely a swift canyon cruiser.
Beautiful icon. Definitely on the bucket list...even more than the new M2!
Autophorie or you could put an s14 in one and have a real m2
If you don't love the 2002, then you don't love cars.
Love this car!
Great video guys!
I'd do terrible things to own this car...Unforgivable things.
Haha exactly!
Wow, I haven't seen a 2002 in at least 10 years on German roads and here I see one driving around in the US. lol
Fuck beautiful car....these things aren't too far off being in a museum.
Great editing!
Oh man, that's a nice car! Great video!
Tuned is back! What about Big Muscle?
Beautiful thing.
woooohooooo!!!!!!!!!! tuned is back!!!!!!!! great review matt!
Wow, A Shinola Blizzard. Nice. Not the usual watch someone would spend over a thousand dollars on but its still cool.
please stop promoting these. they get fucking expensive and I haven't bought mine already
+Tankred Zrn hahahah it might be better to get a e21 then get yourself a nice m20 2.5 in there with efi and go nuts
+Alfred Munkenbeck I like the classic shape, the e21 looks a bit like the current bmws. I have seen a 02 with m52 or m54 engine swap, that's my dream
Tankred Zrn Fair enough, the round tail lights are the one to have then, I've always wanted one of those!
+Tankred Zrn i wouldnt throw a m52 in a 2002 it gets to heavy to handle nicely
Nice job!
My only complaint about the car is that they didn't build it on an older Roundie car (pre '74). Otherwise I'm so filled with envy of this car that I can't even.
100% this.
Is that Thad's shoulder that shows up from time to time? Good to see Tuned back!
I'd kill for this car!😊
Thank you for not making us pay to watch this, honestly I haven't seen anything on drive since you guys started making us pay, I never payed
I'm in love 🤩
A 76 2002 was my first car. Of the exact same color as this car
My favorite BMW
I like the title making fun of Petrolicious
Beautiful shot at 8:08.
Best BMW ever!
Very nice coupe ! I have a 1976 unrestored. I have considered putting a X1 engine in it but I know that 200 HP in a 2000 lb car would require many mods. The X1 does have a 2 liter4 cylinder with twin cams and dual turbos.
What a cool little Beamer.
epic little car
beautyfull car, my aunt has one, cant waith till she agree to sell.
Why anyone would choose Matt Farah -- on purpose -- to drive and comment on a 2002 is beyond me.
Mis primeros autos como mecánico..BMW Panamá...
I'm so happy /Drive is back. Time Inc. better not screw this shit up!
had one in 1968, the third one in the country. at that time there was nothing better, nothing. that was over 40 years ago, now i would rather have an alfa spyder
Emilio Murillo rwd 335i is still a nice bmw
now the BMW is not invisible
tbh I don't really like that car, but I watched and liked the video anyways because your show is awesome.
very NiCe cool
Thank you /DRIVE, now you boosted the price of this car for no reason.....
I want one!
I could have sworn they did a similar build with an m20. Must be thinking of another car... Either way its gorgeous
Lovely car. Learn driving by 1975 Model. Beautiful ride and exceptional handling comparing its age car. But this car except the look is totally different. Still the best!
yes, very good car congratulation see you later
Want a build like this with a 3.0 CSi. I think it has a lot of unknown potential.
Nostalgia is death of the mind. Put it in a car compactor where it belongs and walk away.
Nice b8
Go away troll.
I was going to comment on your trolling but recognized your name. You're one of the biggest fools on youtube.
It's videos like this that make me happy that me and my dad threw almost $17,000 into our 1972 2002
love it =D so gorgeous
It's a very nice restored 2002, exactly how I like it. But there is a little shame @ 4.07 sec, just next to the indicator. The gap has to be filled normally...
Rob Reiner crushes it in BMW 2002!
i had a 74 great car !
cool piece. cool BMW. what is the name of that spicy little track playing at .21 and at the end? thank you kindly
I like the Jeff Bridges iron man look
I like the 501 but this is cool
I love the style of this car except for the taillights. But I feel the same way about the C7 Corvette. I've just got a thing for round taillights.
Great pieces! Some more info would be great though...most interesting in my opinion, are specs. Solid facts always hush the children... ;-D
how did they work that air box w/ the webbers?
