I'm watching this with interest. I own a 2018 Ateca Xcellence with the 1.4 DSG. It has 95k km on it and I'm thinking of a replacement before 2030. I could probably run to the nearest small city and back on battery, which is the trip I make most often. But we also do the occasional road trip and I suspect much of that would just be powered by the engine. What kind of range did you get on battery alone when driving at expressway speeds?
I have the VZ1 245 Formentor, 1,500 mile so far and EV range is about 50km hitting 100kph at times. But this is seriously reduced using the heater, dipped lights etc. You can knock 25 to 30% off the EV range. Clever thing is, even when on zero battery, there is still about 20% left. So Cupra mode still gives full on 245bhp boost a few times and when in stop start traffic. Once accustomed to its abilities, it's a great car.
I feel like the Fermentor was planned partially as a major Leon refresh, then some "genius" middle management moves happened and got us here.
Both cars are being refreshed by end of this year i'm told
@@Driver_88 That makes absolutely no sense, in typical VAG fashion.
For those working in miles - Formentor 123 MPG Leon 130 MPG - quite outstanding!
Everyone gets this wrong, the car always keeps a little charge in the battery so you got access to full power even when the battery is "empty"
I'd choose the Leon hopefully in the wagon form if it makes it to Oz?
I’m leaning more and more towards full petrol OR the full electric Born.
I’d have to agree, I’d choose one or the other if I had to pick one.

From memory around 50km with conservative driving

Why would you want a gas strut?
Convenience I guess 🤷♂️
