Except if zoro is going to be the reyleigh to luffy, ie the second in command that he always was, Oda has to show that he is highly strong and capable. How can Zoro ever be the right hand man of the pirate king or even the strongest swordsman if he can't even 1v1 a Yonko Commander? With the story drawing closer to its zenith in Oda's mind, he will obviously start putting things in place to show off the strawhats and Luffy as deserving of the titles of Pirate King and his crew. He's surely preparing to show off their true strengths and having zoro need to team up with another powerful pirate to take down a yonko commander (who we've seen are significantly weaker than Yonko themselves) doesn't show the crew as deserving of that title. Now I know Oda doesn't have the best record in terms of predicting how much longer OP will last but the fact is that he thinks he only has like 20% of the story remaining to qork with so in his mind he'll have to start making the strawhats at least fully Yonko Crew level soon. He's already taken a step in that direction woth Luffy's bounty and morgan's news so he'll likely push them into full yonko crew status within the next arc ir two.

They are not quite there yet, luffy can now ALMOST give katakuri a decent fight if he were to take it seriously, and in my opinion King should be at least as strong. him teaming up would be tactical, he can have his fair fight when they reach that level. But that is only my opinion and it will not happen like I said it would and Oda would explain it in a way I agree with

I can see the exchanges between Shanks and Kidd going like this: He has just finished pillaging one of the villages that Shanks controls. The people there call an SOS for the Red Hair pirates and when they arrive , they see that the entire village has gone up in flames. Shanks just walks out of his ship, his hand resting lazily on his sword and see the Kidd pirate walking up to him. Shanks asks if they were the one who destroyed this peaceful village. He looks around the village once more and surprisingly, most of the villagers managed to get away with only handful getting heavily injured. Shanks just sighs and looks back at Kidd. Kidd talks about how weak the village guards were and says that he wanted to raise some hell to get the red haired pirate to finally confront him. He can then take down Shanks and get the title of Yonkou right then and there. Shanks could not help but laugh and says that he at least has a lot of guts for destroying one of his villages like this and challenging him. Shanks scratches his hair and says that if the village was not damaged this badly, he would have offered to let them go peacefully but he has his title to uphold after all. Shanks then motions his crewmates to start helping the villagers. Kidd then gets very angry by the fact that he is just facing all of the Kidd Pirates on his own. " Are you actually going to fight us all with just one arm? You really must be underestimating us." Before Kidd could finish that sentence, shanks is suddenly standing right in front of Kidd , holding up his own severed arm. Shanks remarks that now they are on a even term. Should they choose to fight him, hey are welcome to do so. The Kidd pirates, now scared out of their minds, are able to successful get out of there with a much lighter Eustace Kidd on tow. (Since the Kidd Pirates did manage to get away without any one dying to my knowledge, it makes sense that the village he pillaged did not have any innocent people dying. As Shanks is portrayed currently as one of the more benevolent Yonkou, he would not have tolerated that. Kidd probably would have lost more than his arm. Also, I like to think that it was not even shanks that got his arm. Maybe it was Rockstar or one of the weaker member of RH crew. I took way too long writing a small fanfic on this comment section.)

On the topic of the Supernovas, I always wondered if X Drake is a Marine plant. He 'defects' from the Marines, becomes a pirate and as soon as he enters the New World, he seeks out Kaido's islands and joins up. His epithet, "Red Flag" could be literally mean hm being a pirate is a red flag.

Charles Bliss - yeah I deff agree with that. The battle for Pirate King has to come down between BBs and Strawhats. Just don’t see the motivation for a confrontation against the Red Hairs other than a promise to get stronger in day one. Conflict with Kaido, Big Mom and BB all has something there - they have a villainy to them. But if the Red Hairs are the badasses we think they are, them a confrontation with them is going to feel week unless there is something else at stake.

Stop comparing One Piece to Dragon Ball, ffs! A masterpiece of storytelling and world building compared to a story the author himself didn't want to write, that repeated itself again, and again, and again, and again... shitting over all its own original premises (like the Super Saiyan prophecy, or the DB being unique). Yes, Oda liked Dragon Ball, and Luffy inherited some of Goku's traits, but this is like comparing Kill Bill with Australian class B horror flick Patrick, just because Tarantino love the genre and took inspiration (like Kiddo's coma) from that movie. You are TRASHING One Piece with this comparisons, and the fact that you can even come with them speaks really poorly of you and western society

I can see the exchanges between Shanks and Kidd going like this:
He has just finished pillaging one of the villages that Shanks controls. The people there call an SOS for the Red Hair pirates and when they arrive , they see that the entire village has gone up in flames. Shanks just walks out of his ship, his hand resting lazily on his sword and see the Kidd pirate walking up to him.
Shanks asks if they were the one who destroyed this peaceful village. He looks around the village once more and surprisingly, most of the villagers managed to get away with only handful getting heavily injured. Shanks just sighs and looks back at Kidd.
Kidd talks about how weak the village guards were and says that he wanted to raise some hell to get the red haired pirate to finally confront him. He can then take down Shanks and get the title of Yonkou right then and there.
Shanks could not help but laugh and says that he at least has a lot of guts for destroying one of his villages like this and challenging him. Shanks scratches his hair and says that if the village was not damaged this badly, he would have offered to let them go peacefully but he has his title to uphold after all. Shanks then motions his crewmates to start helping the villagers.
Kidd then gets very angry by the fact that he is just facing all of the Kidd Pirates on his own. " Are you actually going to fight us all with just one arm? You really must be underestimating us."
Before Kidd could finish that sentence, shanks is suddenly standing right in front of Kidd , holding up his own severed arm. Shanks remarks that now they are on a even term. Should they choose to fight him, hey are welcome to do so. The Kidd pirates, now scared out of their minds, are able to successful get out of there with a much lighter Eustace Kidd on tow.
(Since the Kidd Pirates did manage to get away without any one dying to my knowledge, it makes sense that the village he pillaged did not have any innocent people dying. As Shanks is portrayed currently as one of the more benevolent Yonkou, he would not have tolerated that. Kidd probably would have lost more than his arm.
Also, I like to think that it was not even shanks that got his arm. Maybe it was Rockstar or one of the weaker member of RH crew. I took way too long writing a small fanfic on this comment section.)

When thinking who would fight whom I had an epic idea for Jack. Carrot (#Carrot4Crew #NotAFurry) sees him and gets completely pissed, jumps to him, and Jack ditches her with one hit, she is trying to get up and Chopper comes in, veins popping from his chibi kawaii head. "I thank you for what you did for us when escaping from Big Mom, little sister; but now let your Choniki protect you. (To Jack) You are considered a Monstrosity, right? Prepare to meet a real monster. Rumble!" Monster Point Chopper kicks the shit out of Jack, and that's how Chopper finally earns a decent bounty. Wouldn't that be cool?

Personally I want Shanks to not be the person everyone think he is. I don’t think Oda will de-yonko him off-screen and I’d like to see them up against the Strawhats but I want it to mean something that makes them antagonists - not a gentlemanly pirate competition.

Is he just that influential/reasonable compared to other Yonko? I dunno man, I just want there to be more stakes other than “honour” and “I’m stronger” if they come face to face. Although I think they will end up getting wiped out by Blaclbeard or something to hype up that battle.

Charles Bliss - yeah I deff agree with that. The battle for Pirate King has to come down between BBs and Strawhats. Just don’t see the motivation for a confrontation against the Red Hairs other than a promise to get stronger in day one. Conflict with Kaido, Big Mom and BB all has something there - they have a villainy to them. But if the Red Hairs are the badasses we think they are, them a confrontation with them is going to feel week unless there is something else at stake.
