No, it's because of what it does to the bear. More generally, all leg-hold traps with teeth are illegal in US because it's more likely that the animal chews or wrings off the caught paw. They just cause unnecessary pain and suffering to the animal, with the possibility of not even actually catching it. Padded and offset leg traps are generally allowed in North America (though mostly not elsewhere in the world) because they're more likely to catch the animal, and because they don't cause permanent harm if for example a wrong animal is caught.
I remember walking through the woods and almost stepping on a bear trap, that was a scary day. But with this one, I would just be cut in half and not have to be scared, very cool.

It’s my understanding that you can legally demonstrate such traps using non-living objects such as a mannequin , you just can’t use them to trap actual animals (or humans) in the wild.

My uncle lived in Alaska for decades and was an avid hunter. He drove to Missouri once just for fun. He brought some fun toys for us. Left a real bear trap with jaws just like on TV. They had been outlawed in Alaska. Everyone thought it was cool as hell till it cut a broom handle in half. And then a hammer handle. My dad hid that thing somewhere and ony HE knew. My brother's an I looked for it for years. My dad was pretty smart... lol
I’m no expert, but watching you do this with no shield at all was truly terrifying. Please take care of yourself, it would be awful if anyone got hurt. (But awesome video and channel overall, nonetheless)
The ballistics gel test would have been better with a partial skeleton included. I learned this from MythBusters. I'm guessing it's a lot trickier to construct, though... keeping the bones in place while adding the gel... but I know far less about ballistics gel than I do about bear traps, thanks to growing up as the son of a hunter and trapper.
That's exactly what I was thinking. The full anatomically correct are over a thousand bucks each. Obviously, you could make them cheaper, but still takes time and money
Or just use a pig carcass ^^ That's what MythBusters often did anyway. I think the one where they shot it with a chain from a cannon was the most impressive.
There's multiple companies that actually do head and body ballistic gel dummies with a very close replica to bone material plus organs and blood etc! Lot of the gun channels use them for ammo testing and "What it's" lmao especially Kentucky ballistics but one of those would of looked awesome in this video
@jackthemagiccat4571 again, they are expensive. The Gun channels have them as sponsors, so free dummies and heavily discounted ones. Maybe if he bought and used them on the channel then he could maybe get them to sponsor or donate dummies.

Yeet
real, it was an amazing watch but these dudes deadass need to buy riot shields or something
He almost k!lled his girlfriend in the past
@fosminclorin why are you censoring killed
@@busterbackster1 cause UA-cam loves hiding comments with offensive words
@willemm9356 that works too but I can see people complaining about using a pig carcass lol.
I love designs that are very human in function
"I made a giant bear trap that I partly arm by putting my arm inside of it." Never change.
I want to see an episode similar to this. From the movie 13 Ghosts, when the guy gets cut veritcally in half by a glass wall the comes down from the ceiling and one side of the body slides down and shows the other side of the body stuck on the other side of the glass! Wonder how strong and fast the glass would need to be to get those results...
it's insane to me that he went through all that fabrication, and his choice of activation method is throwing LOGS and BRICKS at it 😂😂😂
his goals are beyond my understanding.
I mean this with concern, please get some ballistic glass shields. You can even put them on wheels. I like this channel. It only takes one accident to permanently change your life.
Lots of high energy projectiles, close proximity and no protection. Darwin Awards could have a new participant.
@@leybraith3561 He's been nominated for the award for countless years, never managed to win it though. Maybe next year.
the bear trap needed to catch your mom
The 'your mom' joke was despicably flawless 😂
Imagine being a thief and walking into a trap that does this to you
Wrong house!
😂
Only in Florida
Why would I want to imagine myself being chopped in half? No thanks.
This is something that you would expect to find in monster hunter for things like elder dragons
I'm quite surprised that my mum was so helpful in this video.
william standing menacingly in the right corner 9:59
I love how the trap is so powerful that pieces of it fly off every time it closes.
And he stands directly behind it lmao. Most of the time one side of the jaws would hit the object first and then otherside would have a delayed hit. Could've easily had shards of cement or porcelain mess him up
@@MrSeanman30 This guy was seriously playing with his life here. If you watch the slow mo you see all the bolts come off. Incredibly dangerous

Every time he triggers that trap, an insurance adjustor somewhere snaps awake and says "Something is very wrong!"

Ah yes, i love it when kevin creates devices that are definitely war crimes
At this point, it's like he's trying to get on all the government lists, not just a few.
12:05 So you just made reusable and undigestible Mentos.
I really think there should have some safety precautions in this one, I mean if a piece of the trap breaks off at that speed and hits you, it is game over.
First time here?
@@ZaynneThaWook
Yeah, at first I thought "this is kinda dangerous," then I thought "nope, not even the sketchiest thing Kevin has done on this channel."
No need to be worried about it, they are aware of the risk.
Man one of those spikes could have gone off if you didnt notice any bolts fly off, it was making me so nervous lmao. With you and everyone right in the direction they would fly off

that's not a bear trap, that's a dinosaur trap. If we still had sauropods roaming around, this thing would probably cripple them.

Yup, friends.
He didnt make a beartrap that *can* cut you in half, he made one that *will*
5:24 I think the massive neck wound from the spear makes the bear trap irrelevant.
This isn’t a bear trap , ITS A DINOSAUR TRAP
Could be the title for the video lol

14:00 that is terrifying
Loved the "your mom" jokes, and also how Will just left once the bolts started flying
Quite smart, as less people means less probability of someone standing in the course of a stray bear-trap launched bolt
Every time he stood inside that thing my anxiety went through the roof.
bro went from making green fire in 3d (his first video) to making a bear trap that can cut you in half
I read the title as "beer tap will cut you in half". Sometimes its fun to have dyslexia 😂
I need me that beer trap!
I wanna see that
I thought I read somewhere that there's a Dyslexia for cure found
Fill a keg with 80% alcohol and sure as hell it will feel like it
Clearly the solution is incredibly, stupidly high pressure beer.
I would say to chill man but I'm afraid you'd put a comically large beartrap at my front door.
13:38 this bear trap will murder you. *upbeat music*
*I want to play a game*
It took me a while at 12:52 to realize that the head from the Skibidi gag is still there
Yeah that trap you used isn't the same as the BMPs that are best for humane trapping. The new traps are better and account for bone diameters of typical leg bones, a lot like the one with the gap you showed. This makes the traps more of a device to detain game rather than injure or maim.
@3:24 "I don't have a plan, just a vibe" love it!!

Pretty sure it wasn't at first but then the beefy springs part makes it seem that way
