When I was a young kid, I saw the movie Sgt. York I'm 79 years old today. Sgt. York became my hero when I was young, and I watched the movie at least three or four times. I grew up and went to war in Vietnam in 1968. I was wounded after nine months and sent home. Years later my old company from Vietnam were having yearly reunions at different parts of the country. We had one reunion in Nashville, Tn. and when my wife and I left the reunion heading for home by car we drove up to Pall Mall, Tn and took it all in. Went to his grave site and I saluted my lifelong hero and knew I was a true brother in arms to the great Sgt. York.

I met him once in the 1980s when visiting one of the parks there. He was very friendly.

The only problem they have is the bottom of the trench wasn't so nice and pretty, you want a real WWI trench, pull out all the wood and just have it wet and muddy, and when it gets flooded go out and get some logs and put those down.

They should have never put that trench in there alvin would not want that there as for the house they took everything out of it they took the carpet up the sink all of the modern day things they ruined it and it broke Andy york's heart to do what they have done.

The money grabbing low life's did Elvis's home (Graceland) the same way... And his daughter did a number on Michael Jackson by marrying him, publicity only on her greedy mind...Sell outs for the dollar bill...

I feel they are trying to best represent his story and to best attract visitors to keep the site relevant. They have a master plan for the restoration and it is multi phased as funding becomes available. It’s a mug work in progress.

The desires of greed perhaps, but none the less the damage is done. And your correct Alvin's heart is saddened. The trench you speak of was never meant to be and the trench will be filled in. You have my word on it. The powers that be have been released what must be will be...
