I have a lot of respect for Alvin York, who fought for his Country even though he was not in favor of killing. In war he saw his fellow soldiers getting killed and he knew he had to react to save his buddies and himself. He and Audie Murphy are true American War Heroes. That’s why we honor our American Flag. Thank all our Veterans, past and present🇺🇸
I guess he just had to come to terms with the fame he did not want when he came home. He used that to benefit others. To think that even the Germans sent delagets to his funeral says alot. I pray for peace in this world, but I pray for me and women with the faith if Mr. York to continue to help people here.
My Paternal grandmother was Ellen Williams, of Pall Mall, TN.,1st cousin to Gracie Williams. My father and his older brother, while young boys, would travel from Pennsylvania to Pall Mall, TN to visit with Alvin and Gracie. I have heard stories of Alvin all my life from family members that knew him and Gracie personally. To hear and see memorials of 2024 for Alvin makes me proud to know his memory is being preserved. Rest well Sgt. York, thank you for your service. Respectfully, Ellie's grandson Ronnie
Thank you for featuring Alvin York place. I have been here many times , enjoy the park also. The last time, which has been several years ago, his son Andrew showed me and my mom around. He was super nice and shared some stories of his life growing up, made it really enjoyable and entertaining. Sadly Andrew passed away this year in September.

Thank you for this video. I enjoyed the movie that Gary Cooper acted in. It was bad that the IRS took his land and home away, but he fought back. My grandpa was in WW1and got hurt on the battlefield, A German field nurse saved him and he married her so he could bring her back home. My father as born in march of 1919. He fought in WW2. Vietnam was over before I turned 18. It's good to see that there are people that love's History. Again, Thank you!
Thanks always wanted to see his home . I was 13 in 1982 and watched the movies of him and Audie Murphy on the 4th of July. Sgt. York and Murphy have always been my first heroes and have always honored their memory !

Thank you so much for filming this! It was fascinating. When the tour guide said he had been doing tours for only two weeks if I had been sitting I would have fallen off my chair. He has a real gift for it. I wonder if the Yorks had trouble adjusting to such a public life after growing up in such an isolated area. Also interesting is how real life differed from the end of the movie!

Here's my story from when I met George York he brought several of Alvin's guns with him and he asked me to hand them to him when he was telling the story I'll never forget that
That boy could probably give that tour in his sleep. Having worked as a tour guide I feel that was probably a tough tour for him. Thank you for posting this.

It has been recently revealed that the commandment "Thou Shalt not Kill" was meant as Though Shalt not Murder. God order killing in the OT, but if one killed (murdered) with malice in their hart for personal reasons, that was a major sin. In war God allowed killing the enemy of Israel and even suicide in Masada.

In the draft of 1917, a man from Tennessee
Overseas to the trenches he went, from the land of the free
Into war he brought two things along, a rifle and his faith
Joined the ranks as a private, assigned to 338th
There on that day
Alvin York entered the fray
Saving the day
82nd all the way
Into the fires of hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
Hill 223
When his faith has been put to the test, the call to arms he heeds
On the eighth of October he went, made a sergeant for his deeds
Fearless, leading the raid of the war, machine gun on the hill
Charge the enemy taking the prisoners by power of his will
There on that day
Sergeant York entered the fray
Saving the day
82nd all the way
Into the fires of hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
Hill 223
What Sergeant York achieved that day
Would echo to the U.S.A
It's 82nd all the way
Death from above, what they now say
What Sergeant York achieved that day
Echoes from France to the U.S.A
It's 82nd all the way
Death from above, what they now say
Into the fires of hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
Hill 223
Hell, the Argonne, a hero to be
Entered the war from over the sea
Intervene, 1918, all the way from Tennessee
Hill 223
Beautiful.
Thanks for the comment
@@theappalachianchannel Reference to the Sabaton song about Sgt York, _82nd all the Way._
Remarkable just remarkable . I 🫡🫡🫡 you sir
Mamma York wasn't a gangster but she demanded respect and when she sent George to find him, he found him in that bar 3 days later
I wander if that a old sears house
maybe it was
It looks like one of them . I don’t remember the models. But that was a dig part of are history for homes
We used circle electric beds in my hospital for patients with total hip replacements.
That tour guide has killed people
??
I also have met andrew
Love Alvin York and his story, Not so much these dramatic, over the top goofy tour guides .. So uncomfortable
