The problem with IRS Direct Pay is that the payment goes into status Originated and sits in that status for weeks (2 weeks in our case), though money was withdrawn from your account same day you made a payment. During all that time IRS doesn't see that money, so they'll send you a letter that you owe them. Maybe it happens only if you file electronically, request payment via check (by mistake) and then do that Direct Pay.

Hello Kate, Your question is the video I'm working on now. But I won't have it done for about two weeks, so that won't help you now. Yes, and it's not something that was taught in school. There are all kinds of taxes other than income tax (April 14th), that you'll have to deal with now that you are self-employed. My suggestion would be to get a good team together. A tax person, an insurance person, maybe an attorney down the road to bounce your ideas off of. Your local county and/or state office should also have a ton of info for 'getting started' and 'what to do' to stay legal. Good luck.

Hey Maslah, Using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System to pay your taxes is a very secure method. However, the IRS never uses email or text messages to request more information from taxpayers. You should always make sure you are using the correct website and watch out for any potential fishing scams.

Hello Jul, Sure you can, here you go....
Go to the IRS Direct Pay website: Visit the IRS Direct Pay website at www.irs.gov/payments/direct-pay to make your payment.
Select the payment type: Choose "Estimated Tax" as the payment type from the options provided.
Provide your personal information: Enter your personal information, including your name, address, and social security number.
Enter payment information: Enter the payment amount and select the tax year for which you are making the payment.
      Choose a payment method.
Verify your information: Review your payment information to ensure that it is accurate.
      Submit your payment.
After you have submitted your payment, you will receive a confirmation number and a confirmation email from the IRS. Keep these records for your own reference and for tax-filing purposes. It's important to note that while Direct Pay is a secure and convenient payment method, it may not be available for all types of tax payments, and some payment methods may incur additional fees.

It says “Enter your daytime phone number and your SSN on your check or money order. If you are filing a joint return, enter the SSN shown first on your return as well as “2022 Form 1040.” Since I am not filing jointly, am I only putting my # and SSN in the memo? Say it was for the 2019 tax year and it is a personal 1040 return, then you select "Balance Due", apply payment to " Income Tax -1040" and select the appropriate tax year.

      [9:43am PST] @SaintOres.com
Hello Amitava, I don't see why being in India would make any difference. Let me know if this doesn't work. Here you go...
PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) fees can be paid online by following these steps:
Go to the official IRS website (www.irs.gov) and click on "Tax Pros" from the top menu.
Under the "Tax Pros" section, click on "Apply for PTIN."
On the "Apply for or Renew Your PTIN" page, click on the "Create Account" button.
Fill in the required details to create an account.
Once you have created an account, log in to your account and click on the "Renew or Register PTIN" button.
Follow the prompts to complete your PTIN renewal application.
When you reach the payment screen, select the payment method as "Credit Card."
Fill in the required details for the credit card payment.
      Submit your payment.
Please note that you will need a valid credit card to make the online payment for PTIN fees. Additionally, you may also need to verify your identity using additional security measures, such as answering security questions or providing a photo ID.
      Good luck...

Hello Frankie, When paying your taxes by mail, it's important to write the correct information on the envelope to ensure that your payment is processed correctly. Here's what you should write on the envelope:
...Your return address: Write your name and address in the upper left-hand corner of the envelope.
...The IRS address: Write the address for the appropriate IRS Service Center for your state. You can find this address on the IRS website or in the instructions for your tax form.
...Payment type: If you're sending a check or money order, write "Payment enclosed" or something similar on the envelope. This will ensure that the IRS knows that you're sending a payment with your return.
...Tax year: Write the tax year that you're filing for on the envelope. For example, if you're filing your 2022 tax return, write "2022" on the envelope.
...Other identifying information: If you have an IRS payment voucher, write the tax form number (such as Form 1040), tax period (such as "2022"), and your Social Security number or other identification number on the voucher and include it with your payment.
NOTE***Make sure to double-check all of the information on the envelope before mailing it to the IRS. You may also want to use certified mail or a delivery service that offers tracking to ensure that your payment is received by the IRS.
