Radar wise that was a magnificent tornado, don't get me wrong it was a big one on the ground as well but on radar it was possibly the best I've ever seen.
That tornado had the most remarkable debris signature I’ve ever seen on our local B’ham radar. It had our veteran meteorologist shook up a bit TBH. Best footage I’ve seen yet of this tornado.
@@AaronJayjack What happened to the houses shown at the beginning of the video and the truck stop or restaurant? Were they destroyed? I hope not. Really good video and camera work. Thanks for posting.
Caught this tornado as it crossed i65 in Shelby county. It wasn’t nearly this strong as it was near Brent. I’m assuming you were just north of the debris ball?
The quality of your work is getting better and better. Just be careful and don't push it too far. Btw brother, I made my first intercept last year. I had seen several as a police officer, but that was the first time I intentionally tried to catch up with one. It was rain wrapped and I was on the southeastern side of it, but it gave me about 15 seconds of a decent shot. Didn't have enough memory for a video, but I got a few stills. There were several in Bowie County that day.
Jesus this was the tornado that almost hit my house just northeast of Brent in Briarfield . My step dad was on the porch that day and said he heard the damn thing roaring somewhere across the woods
Curious as to what happened when the drone got close to the trees in that crazy wind! Maybe save the "bad" drone clips for their own video if you get in that situation again
Boy that came close to taking out those houses, luckily it veered to it's right. and you can see how gentle in form it is as a rain wrapped Tornado, that it could easily be dismissed as a heavy burst of rain.
I don’t think so as far as property damage and definitely not as far as loss of life. Several of the storms in northern Alabama produced tornadoes so powerful there was prominent debris rowing, scouring of asphalt roads to the dirt and areas where the suction was so great the ground was “trenched” up to two feet deep. The tornado literally sucked two feet of dirt out of the ground!!! The tornadoes on 4/27/11 were un-survivable unless you were underground. Over 360 lives were lost that day.
@@AaronJayjack well, I've got plenty of pictures of the same colored clouds I've taken over the last 3 years and there wasn't a storm or even a light shower in sight. I've taken the pics in Tennessee were I live and in Arkansas to. The best one though I got at Myrtle Beach, it's insane.
Holy shit when the drone got caught in the inflow. What an absolute agent of dread, that was terrifying. TFW: you think you’re filming the meso, realize it’s FFD, then look to your left like “OH NO.”
Yeah it got soaked and had no issues! A couple years ago I had to land a Mavic Air 2 in a parking lot, and runoff from rain completely covered the drone. Submerged completely. It still flys today although it does bark about some sensor errors
5 Years later, James Spann will say, "Listen, you can't expect Aaron Jayjack to be able to wake you up at night, or even be able to hear him inside your house during the day. This is 2010's technology that's only meant to reach a limited amount of people outdoors who have no other way to access storm warnings. The Jayjack mentality has gotten a lot of people killed over the years."
@@AaronJayjack No, I was actually paraphrasing Spann on the whole siren mentality thing (in the south, that'll get people killed), but replacing you with sirens because it's a joke on how loud you were, so loud that you'll be talked about like people talk about sirens, but in no way is it an insult.
I think the scariest type of tornado is a tornado that doesn’t even look like an average tornado. That didn’t look like an average tornado at all! That was a nasty rain wrapped tornado that looked much more like a bank of fog than a tornado.
That was my homemade drone I spent $134,000 to make it. And it’s destroyed for everyone entertainment. And none of you are thankful. I also lost both my legs and both my arms in this tornado now I can’t make love to my wife.
RIP drone. That's some amazing footage!
thank you! Drone is working normally still!
That's some remarkable footage, particularly when the drone was flying through the rain curtains!
thank you Ethan! Have a good season!
@@AaronJayjack You're very welcome, and you also have a good season!
This was the sharpest hook echo I’ve ever seen. Probably the sharpest one we’ll see all season.

Love the video! We live right near the intersection where you were filming. Recorded it from my front porch on Circlewood drive. Stay safe!
Sad day for those who lost their lives in Alabama your footage really brings home the destructive power of tornadoes
thanks for watching!
God bless
You've captured that infamous blue-green color associated with approaching tornadoes. Nice footage.
Thank you!

@@healinghandz5692 it was on live local TV. If I find it, I will come back and link it.

You got some amazing footage there Aaron! Stunning!

Who was in the Dynamic Weather vehicle with the sheet metal wrapped around the bumper? Looks like they were there when it came through?
not sure, but yes, they were in the tornado.
Great footage. You were 1 mile from my home when you were at hwy 5 and CR 1. We only had minimal damage. Others weren't so lucky

Very cool footage. The drone angle is really amazing. Very sorry for those that lost life and property.

Yes it was indeed roaring loudly!
What's a wedge tornado?
It is a tornado that is wider than it is tall
Curious as to what happened when the drone got close to the trees in that crazy wind! Maybe save the "bad" drone clips for their own video if you get in that situation again
Drone set down right next to the trees in tall wet grass
Was this taken outside Brent on Hwy 5? I’d love to know where exactly is was taken.
Thank the good, merciful Lord no one was killed in this.
Oh I see know where part of it was filmed, near Sawmill and at corner of 5 and co rd1
That was a bad mama jama.
Yes it was
Awesome footage!!! Haven't heard of Brent Alabama since I left Tuscaloosa!!!
Thanks for watching Victoria!
Amazed that the drone stayed so still and didn’t crash having come so close

Yes you are completely correct. Dangerous rain wrapped tornado
This system produced some seriously dangerous wedge tornadoes. I wonder if it will compare to the 74 outbreak,2011, 2013?

Yes, this definitely was not a super out break like 1974 or 2011.
At 2:24-2:25 there was a spark of light out behind that house.
Yep that was the power going out
Best footage Ive seen ever!
Wow thanks Alabama Jenny
Since when did clouds become a greenish tint and a indigo like blue color? I started noticing that in 2018 and here this tornado is those colors.
That is a power flash from the electric lines collapsing from the tornado
