- This piece of music is by: Key Poulan. This was performed by Palmdale Falcon Pageantry Corps 2001-2002. The three parts are Chisels & Stone, Catacombs, and Pagan Dance and The Great Fire.
Performed this freshman year in 2003. The theme still gets stuck in my head sometimes.
So did I 👀
My first and most favorite show!! Winning first only adds to the fond memories!!
Jeremiah Noar my band placed grand champion in 7/8 (or 8/9 I can’t remember) competitions the season we played this. The ONE competition we placed first runner up was our state invitational, and our cocky rich kid rival band learned a show based entirely off the state and paid about $12,000 on props and stuff... we fell behind in GE by 0.8 of a point because of their damn props. I have never been more salty in my entire life.
I am playing this show this year. the best part of the entire show is the trumpet solo at the end of catacombs because we have the sickest visual. Right before the solo, the entire band turns backfield and kneels religiously, and plus the solo is about ten times louder because were a pretty small band. it gives me goosebumps its so good.
This was our show in Fall 2002, my first year marching. I remember it better than I remember the later shows.
We played this in my sophomore of high school. So like 06-07. It was my favorite show and it was the first time we placed in finals in our division and we won 1st place. I remember having to march this show in the freezing, 30-40° weather and it was raining. It was so fucking cold. But man I will never forget hearing our schools name that we took first in our division. It was amazing. God I miss marching band.
This song is so fun to play on snare!
Yeah it’s unique
Sounds like the version I've had since 2001 when my HS did it my Sophomore year (Cerritos High). So it does sound like the Buchanan version. But if it says Palmdale on his site, then it must be. Definitely one of my favorite shows when I was in HS!
This show was beautiful. Our director took advantage of our uniforms and had us all in two separate squares to start. As the show started we marched 4 to 5 towards each other signifying the rise of Rome fighting each other. we passed each other and then started marching forward as the shouting stopped (the sound effects were played through loudspeakers). At the fanfare at 0:41, we all stopped and marched towards the crowd signifying the unity and occupation of Rome's enemies. I forget what we did exactly after this besides making a split before the second movement representing Rome's 1st Punic wars and in the end triumph and then by the very end it was representing the second punic wars and the fanfare again when we all joined together it was a compilation of joining and separating. The second movement showed us melancholy as Rome struggled. At the third movement when the percussion stopped, we had columns already set up from the get-go and the percussion second string went and knocked them down, as the screaming started as the sack and fall of Rome we knocked the pillars down which were collapsable, it was very entertaining to watch and listen to. We also broke formation and did a panic-type situation where we ran into each other or sprinted around. We then after the screaming had come back together and marched 8 to 5 in unison. It was a beautiful performance and an absolutely amazing piece by Key Poulan. I miss those days. We got grand champion every show no contest that year for the first time in years which was my freshmen year in 2004. Marvin Battle, and Andrew Gipson were amazing choreographers and directors. I could not ask for a better show. The next years were just as amazing. We really had a band that had camaraderie and passion. The last year my senior year we did a heartfelt show also by Key Poulan Heroes Fallen, Not Forgotten at the height of the US-Afghan and Iraq tragedy. We also did Heartbeat in 2005 and Red in 2006 which were just as good but not as good as this show, a lot of trophies were won throughout my years as well as solo opportunities overall EHS Marching Tigers during those years was a pleasure to be a part of.
I just did this show! I'm in 8th grade and this show is was one of the five I'm going to do through high school

This piece was played by my high school, Palmdale High in 2001 as well. Just youtube search PHS Home Show 2001: "Rome" Though since we played the same score I can't tell you whether this soundtrack was you or us. The trumpet solo sounds like our guy though.

To whichever school played these songs, do you know which version you played? I have the scores for the full instrumental marching band version, but was it performed for the long or short pieces? Please let me know asap please! (: Oh, and to which ever school played it.. It sounds incredible. ^.^
I know this is 6 years too late, but you wouldn't happen to still have the full score would you?

dlrico Its not yours, your HIGH SCHOOL did not write this. You simply played it before this was recorded. Pamdale didnt write it either, thats just who played it in the recording. Just because your school played it doesnt mean it has ownership of it.
PainfullyClear damn nigga
@@Stickman_106 lmao
@Ninathehedgehog awsome
ERHS where you at?
Actually... this piece was performed by my high school in 1999 (Buchanan High School)... not Palmdale. Original performance on my channel "Buchanan High School -- 1999 Rise and Fall of Rome".
And on his website... that's Buchanan performing it. "Pandora's Box", "Medusa" are ours as well.
