The veil thing is 100% a way for people to save face and announce that they've "changed their minds" when it's clear that the bride loves a dress that they don't.
I’m not sure it’s a saving face but more putting the brides opinion above their own. The brides opinion is the one that matters most and if they love it but feel they need approval from a family member. The family member can say they love it and give the bride that approval they think they need when they previously didn’t think it was best. At the end of the day the bride needs to feel great in it and if in the back of their mind they feel meh because one family member didn’t approve, it can ruin the brides love for the dress.
Or maybe seeing the bride in a veil makes them realize that she is growing up, and that is the dress that they see her as a woman in.
because it doesn’t matter what the family thinks of the dress if the bride loves it.
I don't know. When I put on my veil while trying on gowns it immediately made be feel and look like a bride. Like a complete transformation. I could see why others would see that same transformation and change their mind. I do agree though it is very effective as a saving face technique too if that is an issue.
Mom didn't like it but she wanted her daughter happy...sweet ppl
I personally think mom was missing one thing - belt. Not sure why, but sometimes a diamante belt or sash just adds that bit of oomph needed. Nothing huge, just a slight one.

Such a sweet girl! Kind and honest daughter for her age: thinks of her Mother's preferred gown and what Mum wants. (She's not the overbearing, manipulative little brat, that we've seen on these shows!) Speaks volumes of how she was raised!

The second dress was not ugly. Its was not meant for her.
That happens fairly often, and I like seeing it. One can put on a three million dollar/pound wedding dress and look like an egg in a rag; but then put on one that's less than a thousand, that suits her, and just *look like she spent three million. These Emmanuels are good peoples, no wonder Princess Diana picked them to make her wedding gown.

I want a bride that goes "I don't want a fishtail or a mermaid dress" but instead of insecurities it's because they straight up can't move or seat down and eat.
I think I've seen that at least once. The bride was like, "I want to dance and be able to MOVE!"

yes!! and that is so true about a mermaid dress, too. i wore a gorgeous mermaid dress that fit me like a glove for my wedding, but even so, the entire dress had to come off each time i used the bathroom since i couldn't pull the skirt up past my hips. it was hilarious!

What a sweet little girl. She offered constructive critique, and read her mom's face. She did not like the fitted gown because she saw that her mom didn't feel happy in it. I'm glad the bride chose her Lovely dress, and that her mom learned to read her daughter's face.

They picked an awful fishtail dress, wasnt even clipped on the back, it hanged horribly, and as always, they put so little effort. She had the perfect figure for one.

I agree, and it seems they did that in purpose to change mom's mind. I have to say though that the dress looks absolutely stunning from the back only, the way it holds up till her butt then flows, just wow. Front was however old for her

The mom does not like that dress. But she knew in telling her daughter that, she was breaking her heart. So she used the "magic veil" as a reason to all of a sudden love it. She made her daughter happy in the end, but why did mom have to put her daughters emotions through the wringer and make her cry? MOM'S be their to support ANY dress your daughter is crying over. The dress is not for you to choose.
Don’t forget this is a heavily edited show tho. They need a climax and a story line
In the end, mum got the idea. That's what counts.
I’m just glad that in the end she was supportive and didn’t have to have it her way. That she cares about her daughters wants more than her own.
i think she was hoping they would figure out what to add to it to fix the visuals (it needs a belt) but since they couldn't suss that out she gave up and went with it rather than ruin the appointment.
I would rather my mum be honest than just try to be fake and please me..
The third dress is so light and flowy, she will have a fantastic time at the reception dancing all night. She looked so beautiful in her choice 😍

How DARE all these moms put all that emotional pressure on their daughters!?!? After seeing so much of it, I know even better what an amazing mom I was blessed with. She would NEVER have done that to me.

It must be amazing finding the dress of your dreams and it is cheaper than your budget.
I had this moment last saturday :) was my 3rd store (in 2 days), the 10th dress in total, the 2nd dress in this shop, my budget was 1500 €, I put "my dress" on, had that magical moment and then heard, that it is 950 € without alterations and 1100 € with :) (alterations are a different belt, added cap sleeves made out of soft tull and putting extra glitter tull under the actual tull of the skirt)
Finally a mother who knows this isn't about her 💕
I think her Mom didn't like the dress even with the veil, but she said she likes it because her daughter seemed hopeful she would like it, too. They're very sweet people!

Kudos to her grandma who raised a daughter like a true mother and not the toxic way it usually is and her daughter did the same with the bride and the bride to her daughter. 4 generations of healthy minded women.
You can tell Mum still wasn't sold with the veil put on, but a little white lie because it makes her daughter and everyone else happy was the loving thing to do.
Top of the first dress with the bottom of the last dress would have been AMAZING
i'd go the other way around, the top of the last dress is super flattering on her but the skirt has less sparkle when her daughter asked for more!

I can never understand why a bride puts so much store in what others think...even to the point of giving up the gown they love (and often looks fab on them). I guess I was lucky, my first dress I made and loved my outfit (1974). MY second wedding I bought a whole lot of bridal mags US, UK and Italian to get some ideas and designed and made my own...30 years later I look back and still love it. I did go and try on gowns in bridal shops...with a bridesmaid to see how I felt and what suited but came up with my own...with no one else's input - except my husband who wanted off the shoulder (strapless wasn't big in 1990) and high heels. It's the bride's day, no one else's, Mums, sisters, bridesmaids, etc need to keep that in mind. I find it sad when I hear a Mum say 'this is what I want'.

I wasn't impressed with selection of dresses that she tried on. They could have given her a much better fishtail dress. At the end, she is happy with her dress and that is the most important thing.
They do give them many dresses to try on, but production has time and budget limits, so they edit down to the few the bride wants shown.
Love the third dress. Pretty and comfortable. I would be delighted if my daughter chose this one. I would not hate on anything they chose
I love Justin Alexander gowns, just shows you don't need to spend a fortune ro get a gorgeous wedding gown. Loved this entourage. The daughter is so precious, very loving and supportive family!! 😊😊

Just because one is slim doesn't mean they'd automatically be interested a fishtail. He's saying it as if she weren't slim, he wouldn't bring up the suggestion.

I don't understand why when someone is looking for a :little more" that they don't add a rhinestone belt to give it a little sparkle. The 3rd dress was very pretty but plain, a simple sparkly belt/sash would have been the perfect touch.

Mom saw her daughter crying, saying she loves the dress and she just craps all over her daughters happiness. She came around but to do that to your daughter makes me question if she really wants her daughter to be happy with that dress or a dress mom picks out. She proved she didn't want a fishtail but I think mom was holding on to that idea.

Honestly sometimes we don't see our beauty and let our insecurities control us, her Mom believed her daughter was a stunning woman and wanted her really to see it and the whole world see it which is why she didn't agree with the A-Line (I do agree with mum, gorgeous dress and totally my style as well but the bride could carry a dress that is a real stunner with her height and physique). I loved her entourage and mom as the last tried to kindly encourage her daughter to be braver and pick a dress that not anyone can carry.

I agree with the little girl on first one. Second the bride was so against it. Third I think if she had a sparkle belt it would’ve looked perfect. 2nd was more my style of dress than 1 or 3. She had a great support. Was nice to see 4 generations there. I lost my 2 grandparents before I even met my husband.
I liked the 1st and the 3rd dress.....the 3rd dress I think is more suitable for the venue though.
Moms, grandmas, etc. It DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE DRESS! Just put a smile on your face and accept that your daughter LOVES what she's wearing. It bugs the you know what out of me when the bride comes out in something she OBVIOUSLY loves and the parent throws cold water all over it. So selfish.
