The meaning I take from it is that the guy is having to 'prove his worth' to the girl by doing things he's blatantly not comfortable with (jumping off the rock into the water, hiding inside the washing machine, hiding in the fridge), mostly for her entertainment. He chases after her a lot, and it doesn't seem like she's interested in being 'caught', hence she keeps running away or is too far ahead. Eventually, it seems as though she decides he's 'worthy' (when they emerge from the water together), although that's not made clear. Basically, none of it is, which is what I love about it: It's open to interpretation. The song is excellent too, but then I already knew that!

I really love the tattoo on the top of his arm(the peace sign) in fact i loved it so much i took a picture of it on my pphone, brought it to the tattoo parlor and got the same thing on my hip (: true story.
