- If an RVer spends winter in the Southwest, it seems mandatory that they take in the experience that is Quartzsite, AZ. And so, that's where we head next. First stop, the RV Pit Stop to dump, fill, flush and prepare ourselves for a week or so of dry camping in Arizona desert BLM. Next, onto our campsite at Plomosa Road Camping Area before we can get started exploring all the quirkiness Quartzsite has to offer. We visit the Rock & Gem show, take a ride out to the Desert Bar, and end our time at the Big Tent at the Quartzite RV Show. In one word - experience 😉

My parents spent many years in Quartzsite AZ from the beginning of the 90s through the 2000s clear into their 80s. Almost 30 years. Not all their winters but many of them. They loved it there! Growing up I thought that they didn't like people, and were very anti-social, but once they started RVing and going to Quartzsite, they made so many friends. They often spent the summers visiting friends up North who had stick & brick homes and only part-time RVd. Therefore, I have decided to buy an RV and start traveling full-time.
For some reason every time an rv vid shows up on my feed, I'm reminded of the blessing of home, family and community.

It's troubling times right now and the sense of security a home base and community afford you are certainly comforting during times of uncertainty. That said, we are doing surprisingly well given the situation. We got a monthly rate at a full hookups campground where we are comfortable and safe with access to laundry, dog runs, even a pool and hot tub! Also, we ended up in a larger city with ample grocery stores and hospitals, so we have access to supplies and medical care if needed. We hope that everyone is doing well, please stay safe out there 💛
@@EmbracingDetours Glad to learn that you guys are in a safe spot. We ended our trip to Arizona early and returned home last week on Monday and put the trailer into storage a week ago. Now we are hunkered down in our place in Salt Lake City.
I spent nine winters at QTZ in the '90s.Wonderful place to winter over.Great experience.

When visiting Quartzsite I think the best thing is to go to shady lane RV park for the night drop your holdings tanks, take a shower, empty your trash and do your laundry. For about 25 dollars. That’s a good price and don’t forget the desert bar..
I like that you guys choose activities which I would choose. Not always the cheapest and not only tourist traps but you do include a good mix.

We were in Quartzite a couple of months ago, well before the world imploded with the Coronavirus. That said, we agree that living an an RV and being self sufficient does give us some unique advantages during these times of uncertainty. Yup..... been there. It's exactly what you say it is! Well represented!
Enjoyed the video. Since I ran into Bri in Yuma we went our to California and back then visited many of the places you guys have been visiting. We stopped by Quartzite, spent 3 days in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and a week in Tucson. At that point I decided that with the virus if we had to hunker down I wanted something bigger that the RV so we headed home a month early. Be safe out that and please keep the videos coming. These videos are a huge relief from the bombardment of bad news!

There used to be an RV service shop in Bullhead City, AZ. that had a sign in it saying "If you can get it cheaper in Quartzite then buy it there".

We bought our 5th wheel right before the virus attack and weren’t even able to do a shake down run. We have spent this time stocking our rig and doing some upgrades on it as well as our truck. We really want to explore the north and south west.
I usually explain Quartzsite by this analogy... Quartzsite is to RVERS as Sturgis is to bikers! I realize for the analogy to work there would have to be an understanding of Sturgis / bikers. Fortunately, the people I associate with do!
I was in Quartzsite in January 2018. And, we left there and went to Yuma for a couple of weeks and then came back up and boondocked around the Quartzsite area for another couple of weeks. Really liked it. The big tent was fun. We attended Bob Wells‘ RTR and met some friends.
We have never been to the Quartzsite RV Show and I think I'm going to plan it in the future. I love those type of shows and enjoy looking at the products.
Every RVer should go to Quartzsite at least once! Outside of the big tent in a little different area there were rows and rows of vendors set up selling any and everything you could imagine. You'd be in heaven 👍

Saludos desde Puerto Rico , this is the first time that I see your videos and really I liked, continue too doing a good job , it’s interesting and educational, I don’t have RV because we live in Puerto Rico , the island is too small, but I have been in Arizona, Utah and Nevada and when this pandemia finish we are going to visit much of the places in the same zone , thanks to Traveling Robert and people like yours for the motivation and compromising

Im considering quartzite next year, but really wasn't sure about it. This has been the best, most diversifes, and informative video about the area that I have seen, thank you.
We come every winter to get out of the cold.
"We are headed to hook-ups". I am a snowbirder who goes to an RV park outside of Quartzsite each year. I have found being in an RV park community is best for me. I have a community of friends and activities, but also have the great weather and can drive into town whenever I want. I have full hook-ups, which make my camper very comfortable to stay in for six months. Of course, I pay for that; but the cost is low and well worth it in my opinion. Something to think about if you want to be a snowbird -- enjoy the RV-living journey or you won't be doing it for long.
I used to be like that with my beard years ago. I finally said "to hell with it" and just let it go crazy...now I have an amazing beard. Get compliments on it all the time. I say GO FOR IT!
This is weird, yesterday I gave up attempts at a beard . 2 reasons 1) wife disapproved 2) didn’t like the amount of gray I was seeing. We need your videos more than ever in these trying times.

Looks like it would be fun. We have been there for the shows but not to RV. We winter in Cave Cree, never thought I would be a "snowbird". I am told that the Big Tent by people who go to there this year was almost half size for a normal year. The footprint was definitely smaller.

Oh TJ I thought your beard was fine! Hope you’re all well. I’m in lockdown in England and can’t leave home unless I’m exercising, or shopping for emergencies. I’m working from home and as I work for the emergency services it’s very strange to cover meetings over a Skype system. Food deliveries are ok at the moment but, as I live alone, I’m relying on tech to keep in touch with people. Hoping you’re ok in America, I don’t know what your circumstances are. Best wishes. Hi, Sarah and Daisy!! It's pretty unbelievable what the world is going through right now, feels like we're living in an episode of the Twilight Zone. Glad you have the ability to continue working remotely, I feel so bad for those that are out of work indefinitely. We're seeing similar measures in America with non-essential businesses closed, kids out of school for the foreseeable future, closed borders, and of course, people hoarding supplies causing shortages 🤦♀️ On a personal level, many many/most State and National Campgrounds have been shut down, and even private campgrounds in certain states. We count ourselves fortunate to have a spot in a campground with full hookups where we're comfortable and safe and can spend the foreseeable future 🤞 And worst case scenario, if people start turning into zombies or the like, we can go live off the grid for a couple weeks at a time and the van would make a great zombie apocalypse vehicle 🧟♂️ Said in jest, of course- I recognize these are serious times but what is life without a sense of humor ☺️ Please stay safe and sane out there 💛

Fun to watch TJ doff his beard! Sometimes I forget what I actually look like, and start trimming,,, And trimming,,, And trimming Before I know it, I see only skin. What a revelation! Blond One is a different matter. Because you wear sunglasses that cover most of your face, all the time, I never realized what you actually looked like till the short clip where you were inside. Believe me, the face is much prettier than the glasses. Having lived in Arizona, I know and understand the need for shades, but sometimes it's nice to take them off for a few minutes!
