Food stamp fraud: The rise in scammers stealing SNAP benefits in Florida

- Scammers stealing food stamps from people who need it the most is an ongoing problem in Florida and elsewhere but right now there are limited solutions available.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in 2023 Florida reported 356 claims regarding stolen SNAP benefits. Nationally, more than 59,000 homes have been impacted, amounting to more than $30 million in lost benefits.

HOW is it that people are EVEN ABLE TO fraudulently take these funds, when they dont even have the card ? 🤔
Look up skimming, they attach machines to the card machines in the grocery store to replicate the real ones, and that machine reads all your information, pin code, account information and BOOM your stamps Gone! Just happened to me last week and I am pissed. I need my benefits.

Food stamp fraud? Its always been fraud. I live in FL. Anyone I've ever seen on foodstamps buy whole brisket, lobster, prime rib, etc. Stuff that alot of people cant afford on a budget. I know this is not the case for everyone on them, but Jesus. Should be a limit on what you can get. Essentials, not luxurious items.

The reason is: they go by your income. Not your resources. So mama with a big house lots of cars and jewelry doesn't work can get it.
