      Quel_Qualcuno I do hope to return to Gardaland in the future, but I'd love to visit some new parks for me next year, and I only have a tight budget. I do apologise :(

    European dive coasters: Smaller but we'll themed
    American dive coasters: Giant but screw theming.

    • @saberline152
      @saberline152 6 років тому +3

      Dooble you don't always have the vast space available for huuge coasters in most places in Europe, so to attract people the theme the hell out of it and I like it! (best being klugheim phantasia baron close second for me though)

    • @dooble7642
      @dooble7642 6 років тому +1

      saberline152 yeah I know that. I'm not saying anything against Europe. I like all the theming there while here you've gotta go to Disney if you want some good theming.

    • @saberline152
      @saberline152 6 років тому +1

      Dooble I know you weren't bashing Europe, but was just pointing out something very important: space and at least you have recordbreaking coasters I only have taron in my immediate vicinity

    I'm getting a theme here, Oblivion the black hole is the other side of Oblivion at alton towers thus making them two ends of the same worm hole and the nemesis monster moved to Thorpe park in 2003 from alton towers and got injured by the volcano and is now lurking safe underground.

    The backroundmusic really works well! Just maybe turn the volume down a bit, and probably choos somethign with less percussion? Someting more, chilly. :D

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 років тому

      Awesome, that's great to hear. I am still trying to fine-tune the music, but went with a space themed (that's what it sounded like to me) feel for the music. We'll find the perfect music eventually :)

    • @guddefulgaming
      @guddefulgaming 6 років тому

      Totally get that! Great idea :D The overall sound wasnt bad, but i found the very present percussion a bit distracting. Especially with your calm voice.

      COASTER BOT I have found that I was a GP, until I rode my first coaster and wanted to learn how it ran, and what the buzz was for coasters. I then found these videos, along with Taylor's parody of my favorite ride. The combination of both your channels made me love coasters more for their beauty (and I annoyed my family more) Thank you for your amazing videos, good luck! Also, congrats on Clamshell Award!

      I think overall your new video is better, however I miss the 'enthusiast reception to the coaster' part than was more present in earlier What is videos. In my opinion, commenting about the general coasterfan consensus (or lack of) for a ride gives a great sense of context about it.
      Thanks Harry :)

    • @coasterbot

    Great video again! But I must say the dive pit seems a bit disappointed based on the footage in this video. On Baron 1898 you look straight into the pit but on this one it seem like there is to much stuff obstruction the view. Or is that not the case when you ride it in real life?

    • @coasterbot

      Thanks man! I think it's meant to be that you can't really distinguish where you are going. You seemingly travel into nothingness. However, peering into an obvious hole works to great affect, as seen on Baron and Oblivion, like you said. :)

    This would've been a much better story for the original Oblivion at Alton Towers. Or maybe they could say the 'black hole' transports riders to an alternate universe Gardaland/Alton Towers which looks just like our own versions but are ever so slightly different....!

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 років тому +1

      The original Oblivion's storyline is still pretty good, it just needs a massive update to bring it to the modern day. I appreciate that they are two different themes. :)

  • @renjunworld
    @renjunworld 6 років тому +4

    There’s an even better one in Alton Towers. It’s also called Oblivion. It goes straight down into a hole. Yup. It goes straight underground and then comes back out on the other side.

    This is by far merlins best themed coaster, I thought the queue was amazing.. Id love to see oblivion at towers get a full retheme in the queue area like this, it would be so much cooler.. I liked this as a complete story more than baron since its understandable and the theming is more impressive, Baron's is beautiful though and is definitely one of the best looking coasters too, loved the station and lift hill

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 років тому

      It's hard to decide Merlin's best themed coaster right now, I prefer each one for different reasons. Raptor is fantastic, the Swarm fantastic, Oblivion The Black Hole fantastic. It's a tricky choice. Barons story can be a little hard to follow, but I prefer it's theming overall compared to Oblivion. Nevertheless, both attractions are fantastic. :)

    • @moreitsdavid8589
      @moreitsdavid8589 6 років тому

      Raptors was great, but it never really had the wow factor that oblivion the black hole had, same with the swarms, theres not really a store being told. As for baron, the theming is very nice to look at, but i dont really find it cool, its just pretty like all of the park,

      Yes, but both parks are owned by the same chain, so it was deliberate :)

    ‘Oblivion: The Black Hole’
    Doesn’t even have the iconic fenced-off misty black hole of oblivion.. wow.

  • @smilerpunk922
    @smilerpunk922 5 років тому

    One thing I dont like about oblivion - the black hole is that you have to refer it as oblivion - the black hole or people might get confused with oblivion or the black hole (both Alton rides btw)

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  5 років тому

      I'm sure not many will have done all three rides, so only a few will be confused with the naming scheme.

    Great video but 270 degrees IS NOT a helix. B&M does call that element a Carousel Turn/Spin though.

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 років тому +1

      Thank you. It really depends how you define a helix. Because the track changes elevation throughout the turn I believe that it is a helix. :)

    • @MichaelN77
      @MichaelN77 6 років тому

      I see but a helix is 360 degrees or more. Anything less is known as a spiral.

    Great video, and looks like a fun, if short, ride. This is proof that American parks don't understand theming. There are three B&M dive coasters in the US, and only Sheikra drops into something, and that's on the second drop, not the first big one. Griffon and Valravn just have normal boring drops. What's even the point?

    • @coasterbot
      @coasterbot  6 років тому

      Thank you! I definitely agree, it's a shame there aren't more dive coasters in the US that utilise their full potential. These rides are incredibly easy to theme, it's madness.
