- Get an idea of the scale and beauty of the Pikes Peak Barr Trail, including a view of the new summit house under construction. We also take a short side trek to investigate a notch.
To celebrate Brian's 39th birthday, he and Eric decided to run (read: jog and hike) Pikes Peak to the summit. Brian started from the Barr trailhead near the Cog Railway station (7400' to summit) and Eric started over a mile back at Memorial park in Manitou Springs (7900'+ to summit), catching up with Brian around Barr Camp near the midway point.
The Barr Trail is a ~26 mile roundtrip from trailhead to summit and is famous for the yearly Pikes Peak Marathon and Ascent race.
Nice job. Planning a marathon summit and back
Have fun, it's a great route! Plus, the new summit house is done.
How does this video have no activity!!! Barr Trail is awesome and this video captures so much. Thank you.
Hey thanks! I was just contemplating going up again.
Great video! As a road marathoner for the past 5 years, I've only just begun doing trail runs on easy days - I recently posted a virtual run through the woods - so much fun! Your post is very inspirational. As a fellow UA-camr, I love sharing my experiences and knowledge as well. I know how much goes into these videos! Keep posting - I just subscribed!
Right back at you. I look forward to following your channel, and have subscribed.
Thank you for the kind words. It's been a struggle just to get out and stay positive lately. Means a lot to hear the effort in posting some views provided even a little inspiration.
Keep running!

Great job. How long did it take
Well, we took some breaks for snacks, rest, and chatting with the Barr Camp caretakers. Elapsed time was about 8 hours 40 minutes. Moving time was less. Eric's watch says under 6 hours, but I think it was subtracting some walking/hiking.
We aren't in great fitness, but we still went pretty hard. For a hiker, staying the night at Barr isn't a bad idea.
@@Ruinyourknees looked like a nice and peaceful day. And great fitness or not, you did something a lot of people will never attempt.
@@cromwellsports9868 So, when do you want to go running? We should do Section 16.
@@Ruinyourknees I don't know what that is but I am willing to give it a shot
