Because a cars sale value brand new isnt an indicator of its resale market value? Resale market value depends on the markets value for the car which is impacted by multiple factors the brand new price is cost of development, manufacture, delivery and the fact its new so as seen in most cases a car costs significantly more brand new than it does second hand
Pre rona depreciation was represented in sales price for some vehicles. Compare an Acccord to a Chevy Malibu. Same class of vehicle that can be similarly equipt for the same MSRP, but no one was paying MSRP for the Malibu, and people were paying close to MSRP for the Accord. The resale value of the Malibu is terrible, but the Accord's is awesome. Also, look at Toyota Tacoma vs Chevy Colorado again pre rona. Not as a whole. I agree car pricing makes no sense.

Okay, I have to point out a flaw in that video : the reason why an S-Class depreciates is not because it's just one of the many Mercedes who are leased. The reason why is because it's a flagship. Flagships are the superlatives in a brand: the biggest, most expensive, most technologically advanced... Which means (especially the last one) that they are going to be superseded very quickly by the new generation. Besides, the person who buys a flagship does not want to buy it used, but brand new, it's a status thing, no hand-me-downs, only made to order. And when they have fallen enough in depreciation, they are hit with a double whammy : their status at the top of the range and the most technically advanced makes them very expensive to maintain and repair. So no one buys them for fear of paying three four times the amount the vehicle is worth in spark plugs and air suspension patching.
No. I'm a 36 year old male and I have a 2003 SL500, 98k brand new, my insurance is 160 a month. However the air suspension fucked me in the ass real hard so I had to put coil overs on it. That's not saying much since the tundra can cost 90k+ and the Sequoia frequently costs over 100k. Don't get me started on the land cruiser. @@slurp3194
@@SalSanchez-dy6cn well congrats man
If you can afford the repairs, or do them yourself, they’re a great get after the depreciation. The mistake too many people make is assuming the cost-to-own also depreciates.
Just be careful because doing your own repairs will also tank the car's value further.
Only because they can't do the repairs nor want to pay the shop
I LOVE me some late 80s/early 90s AMG, so I'd be much more interested in wrenching one of those instead of a new MB where you need a masters in computer science to make the damn thing work. And I say that as someone who daily drives a 23 Giulia.
Amen.
Giulia's are 1 of like 4 appealing modern cars. More power to ya ✌️🤘
Don't Guilias have Ferrari engines in them?
Parts are still expensive as hell
You'd be surprised. Literally almost everything on my mom's 3rd gen TL is significantly more expensive & 100% harder to get than on my pre facelift C207 chassis or my sister's late w203 chassis.
The 2 Mercedes are also 100% easier to wrench on.
If you're in America it's piss cheap, try living in Australia where we pay 6 to 8x the price for European car parts
1999-2000 E320 w/ 100,000 miles. Top notch condition, previous owner took immaculate care of it. I shared my life story w/ him and because of the immense pain I’ve been through he Sold it to me for an absolute screaming deal, straight up cash. (once in a lifetime deal, less than $3k) . Been the new owner for over a year now, have had absolutely zero problems, mechanic said it’s in amazing shape, no issues at all. and honestly nothing about it is expensive, for a vintage classic Benz everything is absolutely affordable. All that Bullshyt about parts being expensive....is 100% referring only to BRAND NEW MERCEDES, but only absolute dummies are getting those & they can’t actually afford them plus they don’t even own them, they get loans and blah blah blah. BOTTOM LINE IS IF YOU CANNOT STRAIGHT UP BUY THE CAR TWICE ,YOU CANNOT AFFORD IT.

You're not finding a 300SEL for $1500, not easily at least
I just found a 300ce coupe running in the UK for £1k
Passed its MOT today needing 1 front tyre replaced, I'll change all 4
"not easily" being the operative phrase here
@@PepeLePewPew-qy3enyou're lucky, buy a lottery ticket
