I just saw the film tonight and have to say it had my heart breaking throughout the entire runtime. I definitely resonate with your thoughts on Brendan as well. I would trust your instincts on seeing the film yourself. I found it to be emotionally devastating and beautiful, however I don't think it's necessarily a film for everyone. If you're feeling that you're not in a place to experience something that leaves you feeling like your insides were kicked out, I'd recommend holding off to see it. That said, I do hope you find yourself able to watch it at some point. It was one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had watching a film.

@cashewnuttel9054 What gives you the right to say they wasted their time seeing the film? Clearly the film gave them a powerful experience for them to see it multiple times. I understand if you didn't like it, it's okay for people to have different opinions on films, just don't tell others who were moved by something they wasted their time, it's bad form and in poor taste.

Don't cry, this movie sucks.
So let me get this straight. This movie has an over 93% audience approval rating. This movie is easily going to be nominated and will likely win multiple oscars for the performances in it. There is forums on every single social media platform praising this movie for the messages within it. But you took the time to respond to someone who said they watched it 3 times and loved it to tell them it sucks. Then took another moment to comment again and say "Don't cry, this movie sucks.". It looks to me that you're just trying to be edgy and grab peoples attention by going against how the majority feel about it. All you have to say is that you have shitty taste in film and don't appreciate anything with heart built into it. Just move on and continue praising Marvel movies- you're not welcome here. I saw it and it was incredible. One of the greatest performances of any film and an extremely important message.
@@thewelder4449 It has a 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, I've never heard of a movie that has that low of a score that won anything.
Also I say it sucks because it does and not because I'm edgy and whatever else you claim. His daughter has no substance and is just there to be angry. And there's that fudging cheesy scene at the end. And that's really the best description I can give it, cheesy.
Also I don't like Marvel, nor DC, in fact I have to say that I generally don't like movies, and haven't seen a movie since Thor 3, which came 2017(?), but that doesn't mean I can't give my opinion.
One last thing, I don't like encouraging these mediocre movies, which is why I try to warn people. A movie should either be really amazing or be really bad that it's good; never fall in between.

@@cashewnuttel9054 If you generally don't like movies, then obviously your opinion is entirely invalid. I wasn't a huge fan of The Whale (beyond Fraser's performance) but I just can't help but dunk on those who clearly have a tenuous grasp of cinematic craftsmanship yet fire off their opinions with such authority. It's not your fault though because obviously you weren't inculcated when you were younger.
