- I'm back to defend the title of OnX Offroad Build Champion but this time with @trailmater as my partner. The goal is to make an AMC Pacer cool for offroad and maybe some higher speed action!! My Dad would have LOVED this. He always wanted a Pacer while the rest of us laughed and called it a fishbowl. LOL My Dad passed 44 years ago so that tells you that the Pacer is OLD!!

Dave Chappelle built one on DED but it wasn’t the most successful build so a fine tuned rock crawling Mirthmobile will be sick!!! It looks like you got an excellent deal because I saw is a replica Mirthmobile on marketplace the other day for 11k and yours looks cleaner/more solid bodywise.
The amusing thing about the timing being 'delayed', I'm fairly confident that the use of the term to describe folks what don't think too good (and yeah, applied to folks what think different) was derived _From_ the mechanical use. So that word started in steam engines and geartrains, made it's way into mental health (kinda), and then ended up in elementary school. Not gonna lie, 'delayed' works great in this context too!

The best thing about this isn't that Rory and Colt are together or that it's a really cool car to build. Colt and Rory are both big fellers. So that should be fun.
The best part is that all youtubers camera's are fish eye lens, but this time Colts filming inside a fish bowl. I love the look!!

You certainly picked an unique vehicle to build out. Given today's vehicles all look very similar (and not a look I like), it's older quirky vehicles from my youth that have strong appeal to me now. Though when I was young, I wouldn't have given many of them a second look. That said, the first AMC (non-jeep) vehicle that would have come to mind to build out, would have been the AMC Eagle station wagon since it's already a 4x4. Good job thinking outside of the box.
I have a set of door panels. I actually have 3 of these cars. The passenger door is 3” longer than the driver side door 😂

This was exactly our family car in 1976. I learned standard on that car. It sustained a rear end collision in a 65 mph zone after the water pump failed and no glass was broken! Just bent the bumper! Super durable car.
You and Rory on a build, now your on to something special... can't wait to see what you two come up with.
When building a nice camp fire, once you get your leaves going, add some small sticks. Once they ignite, you can start adding larger pieces of wood. Thanks for the tips!!

Rory knows how to build a beast vehicle for very little money his buggy is proof of that

The funny part is Colt without a seat you look short when you are my height.

As a kid growing up in the 70s, my grandparents used to own a Pacer - and man was I embarrassed by it! Never, in my wildest nightmares, did I imagine anyone thinking a pacer was cool (in spite of Wayne's World!). But if anyone can make a pig look good with lipstick, you and Rory are the guys. I can't wait to see more!

You made a point of how rust free and nice the body is. How are you gonna make a capable crawler without cutting it up???
I made my own door panels for my off road baja bugs by vinyl covering1/8 inch thick wall paneling. Once you get the cardboard template shaped the way you want it, just transfer it to a sheet of masonite or paneling. 1/4 inch foam can be used if desired, but on my off road cars, sometimes they were in deep water, and I skipped the foam. If I lived closer, I'd love to make you some in the colors of your choice.

WOW 🤩 what a beautiful car, incredible condition!!! I was so upset when you were telling us about it, showing how pristine it is, that it really needed to stay stock…until you got to the inside!!! What a terrible shame that it’s all gone 😞. But then, now there’s no need to worry about making it into a crawler! Tear it up and have some fun,,,🤩

Hand sanitizer with high alcohol content works well to remove sap, but test it on a small area to make sure it doesn't affect the paint.

I realize this content may not be for everyone...but I'm loving it! Yes, your timing is a bit Tardy and you may be missing a cylinder and she sounds like a Farmall M tractor lol. Glad you were able to get her registered. A VIN can also be found stamped on the frame behind the steering box. You would have to remove the steering box to see.
