Great watch for the money, I bought a very similar one, the SUR449P1 for £130 last winter. Sapphire glass, leather strap, beautiful Green enamel face with white and gold applied indices, and 100m water resistance. Seconds hand hits all the marks, a real lovely GADA watch.
Curved spring bars might help with those spring bar holes that are too close to the watch. I bought some (a pack of 20) from AE for $2 a few years ago.
Not bad at all for a modern day Seiko. And indeed, some quartz in the collection, if only for grab and go purposes, should not be underestimated. Especially day/date automatics can require a bit more time than might be convenient....at times. 😂
I’m gonna keep it real. for a lot of people they get caught up in specs instead of just buying a watch that they really like and would like to wear on their wrist often. Like they won’t go for a watch because it has hardlex instead of sapphire when in real life-in the practice of how they would actually wear the watch it doesn’t matter. Or they’ll turn away from a watch because the lune isn’t so great but in reality, it doesn’t actually matter to them with how they will be wearing the watch. I don’t know. I just find that to be the case quite often.
Generally I agree, but definitely not as far as crystals are concerned. I've scratched every single mineral crystal I've ever owned, including all the "hardlex" ones from Seiko. On the other hand, I've never scratched a single sapphire crystal. Mineral glass simply has no business being on any watch today with sapphire being so cheap and readily available.
The SUR series are great affordable everyday watches, but very much overlooked. Sapphire, 100m WR, slim, lots of positives and easy to find them under £200
I don't ever you reviewing the mini turtle. I just picked up a JDM from a large Japanese retailer on eBay for just over 300$ US dollars. I'm not a fan of the 6309 but I really enjoy this. Good work! I love quartz too
Got a Citizen aw0090 on order £135 - EcoDrive 40/20/9mm thick WR100 and Sapphire. Day at 12 date at 6. Crocoplastic strap not bracelet and the collecting affliction means a few spare straps. I don't have a blackdial I thought (GShocks are displays not dials😂)... then thought this morning "not worn my Pilot watch for a while, got it out and of course its got a black dial... oh well my reasoning was sound at the time
Beautiful dial. Indeed slim pickings for Seiko value lately. But why don’t they start using their V- series quartz movements with sweep second hands? So much nicer and don’t have to worry about misalignment, which given Seiko’s quality control, I’d say you got lucky with a good alignment
I have the same problem with a lot of seikos in the presage line ,they're nearly perfect the dials are far to big the proportions just look so offf to me
Seiko are having their pockets picked by several Chinese companies over the last 3 or 4 years. On the positive note Seiko will fight back with some budget beauties. Consumer power 👊
@ I’m sure it depends on the strap, but yes, a guy I know introduced me to the curved bars. Hie wore his with a vintage Rolex. The curve of the watch head was matched by the curve of the strap. It made me think all bars should be curved.
Seiko definitely knows *how* to get the second hand to align properly with the minute markers, but it seems to be something you have a pay for. I have a higher-end Seiko Astron and the second hand hits every minute marker bang on. The same will be true of higher-end Citizen HAQ watches. Not so the cheaper models. Yours is about as good as it gets.
@@ilikewatches It is indeed a deeply philosophical question. Let's just say, I treat my 70s quartz Seiko with its absolutely precise seconds hand, like a favourite child.
Very cool watch. To me, it gives off a vibe that you have to be of certain age to be allowed to wear this one, like 50+ 😊. This one screams "for mature no nonsense watch veterans". Quartz is actually a solid choice for this one. When was the last time we saw saphire with all solid bracelet and under 200$ Seiko?? 👍👍👍
At last reviewing a real watch maker like the all mighty "Seiko" and not these rubbish AliExpress watches. The finishing can be all the rubbish you want, it's a SEIKO. You can walk proudly knowing you have a reputable brand on the wrist! I'll swap the best San Martin with any entry level Seiko anytime of the week.
Disagree. SM's homage of old seiko superior is just nice. While vintage quartz watch, if broken, is virtually impossible to repair. And quality finish just as nice as vintage seikos. 60-70s their peak design. Not to mention proper sizing - 37mm.
@borismedovar9968 Did you read my comment!!! I doubt it. Who talked about vintage Seiko watches or fixing watches! My whole comment was that brand reputation from reputable brand watch makers comes first, rather than watch finishing and fine brushing and polishing from a stupid Chinese San Martin watch. I can stop any human being on this earth and ask if they know the brand Seiko, I'll get a 9 out 10 a "yes" answer. Try this with a San Martin. They'll think you're talking of an island maybe, but not a watch.
@@pipapo7019 How can somebody be as stupid as you finding my comment hilarious by me stating undisputable facts. Can't see the connection. Keep laughing buddy and keep buying junk Chinese watches 😂.
The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one. I’m as much a Seiko fanboy as anybody, but even I can recognise they are being left behind by the ever-improving Chinese watchmakers. Seiko’s reputation as a quality manufacturer, at least among collectors like us, is in danger of being eroded by their declining value proposition. That name on the dial will begin to lose its shine if things continue to slide . . .
that looks so good didnt expect seiko to return to its glory with this one

I bought the same watch with the white dial. Very nice watch. The dial is excellent. The bracelet is just okay.
Very nice for a budget Seiko! Two copies out of two with the second hitting the markers, it bodes well.
Finally! I am obsessed with quartz watches, and you should do more of them
It is a bargain alternative to the PRX quartz, such a shame that straps won't fit though, thanks for trying that for us 👍
Wow, what a find.
Curved spring bars might help with those spring bar holes that are too close to the watch. I bought some (a pack of 20) from AE for $2 a few years ago.
I think you got a bargain there. I really like the bracelet. 👍

They should have put a VH31 inside.. but it looks very nice 👌🏻
Beautiful!
What do you recommend when it comes value for money? Buying this one or pay a bit more and get the SBTM323
SBTM for sure

I'm still thinking about the PRX but i don't like they put the date the company was started under the Tissot. I guess I'm getting picky.
I buy ALL my Seikos, particularly JDMs, from Japan. Still cheaper than UK prices even including import fees...
Looks great indeed
Nice finishes for the Seiko price.
Is it inspired by PRX? I have a beautiful twenty year old Seiko chrono that has an integrated bracelet like this..

Five year battery life instead of two
Nice Earth orb, where do I find one of those?
Called Mova globe…
Very nice!
Agreed that entry level Seikos have become way overpriced in the last 4-5 years. A far cry from the SKX and SARB glory days.
I think thin pressed brackets makes a lighter, thin claps unit. Why does everyone look down on that?
Seiko what Else!!!😊

Only if it had the same kind of dial as the sarb033
Delugs sells curved spring bars. They would probably fit perfectly.
Silly question but can I just smash curved spring bars into a strap set up for traditional spring bars? Thanks

It ice on the close up at the start the second hand missed barkers by a mile 🙄. Yeah great value …for a quartz .
Looks good but needs more taper on the bracelet
I like it, realy nice for the money you spend. Too small for my dinosaur wrists, sadly.
Stunning!!!!! But, too big and too quartz... Regards, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil... Love the channel.
Nice
Mmmmm, you're not quite selling it matey. Which leads us to the inevitable question. Why is Seiko?
Why is Seiko what?

1953 here is that old ?
@juniorjohnson5961 absolutely not, perfect time for a classy watch like this!
It's very attractive. But cheap clasp and quartz make it a poor value imo.
You lost me at Quartz mate
Too shinny for my taste, somehow it comes off looking cheap to my eye. Anyway, to each their own!
Love a Seiko but the value is not there anymore. Gutted.
JDM is basically the only Seiko that's likely to be 100% in terms of quality. Sad, but true.
Quartz????😂
For the price ! 😯
It look like a Citizen Forzeno CopyCat
Blahhhh

Who on Earth is going to look at the watch with a mignifing glass to see the brushing ?
Mignifying ?!!

A lot better and more value for money than 95% of Seikos overrated and vastly overpriced offerings. 👨🏻🦲👍🏻
