No need to turn away from Soundcore for a party speaker. I stick with the Rave PartyCast for a party sized speaker, a very good option if I make good use of the custom EQ.

I wanted something with good highs and decent bass outside on the beach, to be able to be heard over ocean waves. Based on the review here I thought the T9 had better highs and probably better bass because of bigger woofers. I was doubting the motion boom. I then bought both and listened to them head to head. The T9 has unnatural and somewhat harsher highs and the bass didn't impress me that much. The motion boom is smaller and lighter, provides great highs and bass at about 75%, at full volume it distorts with the boost on some D&B tracks but that would be overwhelming for any smaller speaker. I returned the T9 because it's much bigger, not as portable, and doesn't really outperform the motion boom. The motion boom has impressive balance and highs that travel, the bass gets lost outside at the beach at a good distance but overall very impressive speaker all things considered.
W king seems to be improving in their tuning unless this one is a fluke. I'd be tempted to get one of the T9s myself except that I already have a couple of motion booms. They get loud enough for me and I think they are more versatile and worry free because of the ip rating. Thank you for another outstanding review! 😁👍👏

tried listening to both in an open field. T9 is louder and the sound can travel further(30 m). Motion Boom cannot get that loud and it's for short range. But, unless you are playing for 20+ people over a larger space, Motion Boom does the job.
If you're just playing for under 10 people on a picnic table, Motion Boom is more practical and portable.
If you want to impress passers-by at the park with the volume, T9 will do that. if you set it up against a wall, it makes a lot of difference.
For the average listener, the lack of deep bass in T9 didn't really bother me that much. But, Motion Boom has that deep bass if you stay close to it and you can feel the rumble through your heart.
T9 is honestly not that heavy if that's the only thing you have to carry but if you have other stuff to carry, it will not be so practical.
yes because the boom uses a lot of power to drive deep bass and the t9 doesnt and the deep bass does not travel like the upper bass of the t9. so when you say louder, it is of course easier to go loud if you dont need to drive deep bass.
Oh btw, i use wavelet eq, works flawless on every platform and its a parametric eq, so no volume dropping or reductions from frequency's. Boosting something can with some speakers or headphones lead to distortion, but with many speakers its fine according to my testing

Speakers are priced around the same so the T9 is the winner unless you want a smaller more portable speaker. T9 for me all day

I would say the T9 is the best value sound wise. Boom or X10 for IPX rated speakers.
In my opinion the boom sounds much more clean overall, both bass and highs.... agreed to disagree 👍
Rear ported have a special feature that totally depends on their proximity to a wall or corner. Sitting them on a wide open table top or counter will not send the bass forward so you'll never hear it. I placed my pair on the floor angled up at 30 degrees and it sounded fantastic. I also took them outside on a picnic table and they sounded completely different. As I understand it, bass propagates outwardly in a circular wave and is non-directional. A wall, corner and ceiling will bring that low end wave forward toward your ears. It's different than passive radiators and probably more natural.
all sound travels in waves. bass has a very long wave and is said to be omni-directional (rather non-directional), that is it travels as you say outwards in all directions. it is said to be non-directional because our ears cannot place the direction of those frequencies in the way it can with high frequencies.
Positioning my Denon's with radiators in a corner has a massive effect on the bass. These speakers are not for perfect home placement. I don't think your point is valid
There is a lot of physics at play with bass frequencies due to the large wavelength. You normally reckon to get 3db gain per large surface area.
@@alanrossreviews we moved house a few months back, and my Bose acoustimas have never sounded so good. I was always disappointed with the bass, but with the room dimensions, they are killing it! After many years I am finally proud of them 🤣 (when I got the 250bt's, I compared them with the Bose side by side and I was shocked how good the Denons are, more than a match at low levels!)
@@DJunclepaul2nd So there's 4 options. No port, front port, rear port and passive radiator. Maybe something else like different port designs & shapes. Usually studio monitors serve only one purpose of accurate reproduction with no room gain. A passive radiator is a mechanical device that introduces another dimension of complexity. One guy I watch wants a device that shows every wave holographically with frequencies in different colors inside the room which is probably the only way we will ever know what reflections and gains or impacts are happening to the sound. Probably every speaker made sounds different in different spaces. Some people take them outside in infinite space to test them and eliminate space altogether. JBL is the master of sound. My JBL Partybox 1000 has that downward firing 12" sub which is like a bomb or rocket going off against the earth. It's the only surface around. Cars with subs sound ridiculous because the car is rattling apart and the bass can't escape. In reality every speaker (not so much monitors) is an individual instrument with its own personality. Then we put them in another bigger box (room or den, etc) and make them react. Then we move inside that space and we react. It's all insanity really but we love it.
I've almost completed my transfer, call it FrankenKing project, where I relocated the T9 guts into a bookshelf enclosure. I'm adjusting the bass porting or might make it customizable. Odd this doesn't exist but it does now. I am part German and I am an engineer so it's German engineering I suppose. I liked it before so I'm sure this will only make it better inside an inert and dense MDF enclosure.

for me soundcore boom is way clearer and less distorted comparetively but t9 wins in volume level
I had grabbed a wking t-9 for amazon prime day a few weeks ago and I found it lacked anything in the low, the mid was OK but not great, the highs meh... , but audio was muddy sounding too, it was pretty underwhelming for its size. I have ordered a motion boom now to try as its the same price, I don't play loud, just something for my garage. Love your reviews by the way! well done.
you either got a lemon or they changed the tuning, mine is quite the opposite, yeah lacks deep bass but makes up for it with clarity.
I wouldnt consider WKing. a friend bought the T9-2. At first glance it looks nice and sounds quite good. However, there is no app/EQ function to adapt the sound profile (except the crappy outdoor mode) .
The next disadvantage: only one device can connect, the standard for Bluetooth 5 is actually 2. If you want to take turns with 2 people, that's annoying.
There is also no party mode to pair multiple devices like there is with Sony, JBL, UE or soundcore e.g.. So it's better to spend a little more on something sensible.
i only tried version 1 so not sure whats changed. even the motion x600 and x500 dont do multi point, i think they are just going with cheaper chips.

Cheers for this, wish they'd kept the AUX option on the Boost, I was about to pull the trigger then noticed it's an updated version with no input! Is the Tribit Maxsound plus comparable (similar price)? Otherwise I might go for the W-King D8, I like to have the AUX option for watching films.

2 motion booms. really the t9 is a very different sound. it doesnt have deep bass but has a nice separation. depends what you are looking for.

Just got my t9, it is a good speaker, plays loud, clean and every music style sound good, Imagine if the bass could reach a little deeper. Then it would be awesome, not sure if I will keep it for long, testet it against mye Jbl partybox on the go and it sounded thin in comparison, that bass on the JBL is crazy, but the battery time on it sucks, there is always something. Just can't get the perfekt speaker 🤔🙂
The wking t9. Is now cheaper .$104.00 only. The best small portable speaker . I bought 2 and and paired I get 210 Watts using any bass & equalizer booster. I get 6.5 hours of music playing at 95% of volume and no distortion , very clear and loud sound.

T9 is 100% the winner. there is nothing to complain about. T9 currently costs 100 € and the motion Boom 90 is therefore a small difference! The motion Boom is obviously more compact and portable than the T9. In terms of sound, the motion boom gets tired pretty quickly, as the speakers shut down at around 70% and the bass shakes. (Unfortunately only 30 watts) I took my motion boom with me at the lake today and immediately noticed that it is limited in terms of bass. The upper bass spectrum is hardly to be found and the deep bass is difficult to hear overall. (No brilliant scarf transmission at the lake) But there is still a positive conclusion to the motion boom. Because if you put it a little further away from the shore and find an optimal place on the ground, you can sunbathe very nicely and enjoy a solid sound + bass but no kick bass, which is so important for outside! Anyway, the T9 really can't be compared to the motion boom.
@@schacktastisch It depends on need I guess, for my use Motion Boom have enough volume, I don't even use it past 70% that much. I don't need more.
And I have two custom EQ. One with some upper bass kick for outside and one for indoors where I take upper bass down. Clarity is good enough with EQ. I think Motion Boom is the best speaker for ~$100.
Don't get me wrong, T9 is FAR from being bad, but for me, it's too big, uselessly loud, not water resistant, and I like that deep bass !
@@ThibautMahringer So I always set up my T9 with an EQ app. So the motion boom actually has no advantage other than being waterproof. When it comes to bass, you can't compare the two speakers. Motion Boom is a really impressive loudspeaker for its size, but well as I said, it runs out of breath and that from a volume of over 70% and outside in the open I hear loud music with my friends and that's why he is a little on "go under". Even in the lower bass range, I still find the T9 stronger, because it is of course much bigger and heavier. (Other category)

😝 i do like the w-king because it has a really big sound, opens the soundstage up, yes a bit too bright and lacks deep bass but somehow you dont totally miss that big bass because its upper bass sounds quite impactful. The boom gets close and goes deeper and is amazing for price and size but t9 for me maybe the most listenable of the w-king lineup. I prefer the boom but im just saying dont dismiss the t9, i think it has a place given the price 😀

Just ordered a motion boom and a motion plus to hear the differences for myself. Looking for a future TWS system in my campervan. Not shure if it makes sense, but the t9 sounds like a good competitior for the motion+. There is a new Version (t9-1) from the w-king btw. Hopefully they changed nothing about the sounding. I would have to order it from UK to Germany, so the treshhold for testing it myself is a bit higher :D
What was your final choice? I'm thinking the Motion Boom is the way to go.

you have to remember, the boom drives more bass which uses the amp, so the t9 can go louder but without the bass of the boom so depends on what you are listening to. but two booms in pure lufs will be a tad louder than one t9 but the sound will be quite different

Hi alan great review . Do you have any idea how bad the latency is on the t9 using aux , im after a speaker for djing , mini rigs are recommeneded but a bit out of my price range and i have read somewhere the t9-2 has bad latency wired . Thanks

They do not sound the same at all. Get both is my suggestion. T9 open and bright but boom simply deeper.

Interesting. To my ear the t9 seemed to have the same low base or a least my ear wasn't missing it. The t9 sounds really balanced and sweet sounding.

None of those. If you want a speaker to listen to opera and stuff like that, go with Bang and Olufson or Gauder Akustik. Those speakers are just small and cheap bass canons.
T9 is not in that mold.
T9 will really open up the sound but you will lose low end kick.

Having an aux input how would adding a mini rig sub or something like that do for the t9's lack of deep bass?
well the sub is tuned for the minirigs of course but i havent tried it with the t9. it isnt practical since it requires its own bluetooth dongle or fully wired

Not sure what you are envisaging. The t9 requires line out from the sub. The sub then has to connect to your device using its spare aux socket. Either wired direct to the device or a Bluetooth dongle plugged into the same socket.

The high-end on motion boom sound like too much sometimes with brighter tracks ... but the T9 was very smooth and balanced kinda liked it ... the big sound is pleasant ... uhh that high-end on motion boom screwed my ears as my output speaker motion+ is already high heavy but handles the high-end really well even when pushed with good tracks ... because it's a narrow sound for boom the flat (not sloped) highs makes it more thin sounding ... don't you think it's a bit too much ...? increasing the mids can solve it a little bit ...
its taste. you can add clarity anywhere from the high mids to the brilliance range, for my ears i found it best there. but sure juggle with the eq. the 2.5 and 8 khz bands are also favoured by many for adding clarity. so taste, high mids/lower treble vs upper treble vs brilliance 😝 its all part of the fun
