Much to my shame I paid very little attention to the band when Scott was with us. I heard a song by chance and instantly realised just what I’d been missing. What a writer. Although I never met Scott , he’s one of those guys you just know was a gem . My 2 favourite, contemporary songwriters are both Scottish, Scott being one of them. ❤️
Great interview. He really opens up about his lyrics. Which is what drew me to his music in 2008. Plus it was simply just great music. But the lyrics were always powerful. Of course now, given what's happened, they have a much stronger impact. There are few artists, (well songwriters, poets have always been 'page bleeders'... the good ones anyway), who have been so open about personal pain and so consistently. In almost every song, it's there.
A great guy too, funny and warm, which you don't often find when you 'get close' to your favourite artists. A true poet. The loss is just so huge.
