I feel like comparing Penance to Mudrock is like comparing Blemishine to Saria Technicaly they are the same sub class and all but they do very different things
I feel like saria is generally more useful (scales better at higher difficulties for most cases) but I would love to be proven wrong since I actually like blemishine’s character more. Blemishine’s main utility (hard to replace utility ) seems to be her synergy with specific operators, Saria on the other hand will add a lot of value for a very broad variety of team compositions. Mudrock and Penance seem to be very close in level of utility though
Just like how they compare Schwartz/Pozi, Ash/Exui, Blaze/Galter, Thorns/SA. Like, they're all do different things and better than one other in different situations.
for the record, Penance can easily tank 3 tactical nukes of Chapter 10 with 0 problems if she has her barrier up, those do 3k true damage mind you and easily soloes Patriot Phase 2
my main problem with using her in chap 10 is the fucking worms reducing her sp. which im trying to fix by m3 lv90. because a 4k perma shield, with a max barrier limit of 12000+ is absurd as hell and fun as hell

At first i was only focused on texas alter but after realizing how strong and tanky she is oh my god I really really hope i get her both and texas alter and a skalter on the side even if i only get texas i would still be grateful
Penance is pretty fun and great! S1 is great for AFK with trash mobs, and I’ve been using it frequently. But against Agent 74 I use her S2 and put her on the side since she can deal damage but not directly block him.
If you get Penance and don't have Skalter, get Perfumer's Module to level 2. It gives her a big boost to the passive healing talent, and isn't very expensive because Perfumer is a 4* op.
I know I'm late to comment on this video but she's even greater paired with Aak with her S3 because it can stack faster after Aak shoots her. Easier skill activation 👍🏻
Got Tex with the first free spin. Considering that GaviAlt and Pozy showed up multiple times on free spins during their banner, I'm holding back my orundum for now in case my free spin luck rears its head again.
Aak S2M3 will make her immortal. Because it instantly gives her 15 hits and increases her HP thus increasing barrier size., I think you can get 24k worth of a barrier, plus her normal HP. And by the time her S3 is over, Aak is almost ready to cast his skill again.

It's not that I didn't want Penance. It's that I didn't want three of her and no one else. Doesn't help that I'm still far from Chapter 11 and kind of want to get the 6* Selector Ticket for Mudrock because Mudrock.
Her module is really good too, since it boosts her DEF when blocking and increases the starting amount of Barrier HP on initial deployment, making it easier for her to safely charge her S3.
This banner was kinda nutty for me. I went for 600 pulls as a whaling lunatic because I only started last september and wanted at least W and Nearl. I ended up getting a dupe Skadi, new Rosmontis, 5 texas and 7 penance along with a dupe Saria and Dupe Magallan. Honestly ended up amazing (Since I had some tokens to push texas to pot 6 and I got Rosmontis too :D). Very happy with the way it went. Only really disappointing thing was realizing the Fugue skin doesn't rerun this event. Anyone know when it comes back?

I loved her design so much. Skills seemed amazing too on paper. After few months and trying to use her in recent spam of events.... she is sadly pretty bad, putting normal defender works better and can be healed. Rarely you have chance in any stage in the game to actually be able to maintain her skills. Maybe im doing something wrong but she never survives any danger i try to put her in to actually use her, defense recovery doesnt help, at least i have Blem for that. For the record i didnt give her too much chances and i still plan to work with her (well, as i got her its better to get my money worth :P )
She is somewhat situational, but extremely good in those situations if you can identify them. Don't try to use her against tanky enemies that attack slowly and do lots of damage unless she can set up on a crowd of smaller guys first. She can pretty easily solo half a map's worth of enemies and then use the barrier and SP she built up to smash bosses or elites to bits, without taking any damage herself, if you put her in the right spot at the right time
At the 9th 10 pull got Texas alter and two penance . First time got three 6 stars in 1 multi . Already trying to m6 Texas . Will take some time to raise penance .
penance and mudrock are pratically equal except penance is more on offensive and is weak to slow heavy attacker and mudrock is more on survivability and is weak against fast attacking enemies
Penance was one of the first operators I ever got, the third one I think. As a new player, I had a lot of anxiety about using her, since she was so expensive and I wasn't using Myrtle then. I didn't like using her, and though E2'ing her would be a waste, and never used her for a couple months. As a more experienced doctor, she's on my team pretty much all the time with Thorns and Mountain, and I've started to really appreciate her as a tank now that I can deploy her appropriately. For any new players, I really suggest building her to E2 and mastering her third skill, I've never seen an enemy actually manage to take her down since.
How does her M3S1 work with Erato's lv6 S1? In the situation thst there is only one enemy, Erato will sleep the enemy for 5 seconds every 10 second, and then Penance will use her charged S1 to stunned another 5 seconds. That should keep the target CCed forever. Unfortunately most bosses won't take the sleep effect.

Also Ch'en passively gives defensive/offensive recovery skills on the map passive generation. Its a little slow, but its better than none.
And her Module upgrade makes it even better
