- This shows one of our basic steep roof set ups. If the rope is kept tight, the worker can use the ID's and direct their weight into the roof to move about easily.

This is silly way to abseil in any work environment if that rope fails you are dead or you will have a serious injury that's why professional abseiling personel have a separate back up line and working line I think you need to go on a professional course DO NOT follow this stupid advice by the way I am irata qualified abseiler
Yes, if the rope fails, we die. Absolutely don’t follow what we do unless you want to. Two ropes and two anchor points are safer than one, no doubt. Arborists put their life on the line with a single rope and a chain saw daily. Roofers rarely even use one rope. The reality is that industries have different standards of what seems safe, and that is often based off what what is currently normal behavior in that particular industry.

Misuse of equipment. You should read the technical content for the devices you are using.
You have a good point. We do read all the information actually, yet still experiment in what we feel is in a manner of acceptable risk tolerance for us. Definitely not for everyone to try.
