Well, probably not on a specific book, but it looks like they're taking aspects of British folklore with pixies, an elf, and a Herne the Hunter/Wild Hunt archetype and folk tales about historical highwaymen and ladies. Like people might have existed, but pulp stories and dime novels embellished their accomplishments into folklore. Actually I read a description and the elf guy is Billy Blind, a brownie or something like that. I hate how divisive everything has become. People see a woman and people that aren’t white and immediately start screaming that it’s woke before they even know the first thing about it. And these same people complain whenever there is race or gender bending and always say, ‘go make an original story with characters like that, don’t ruin existing characters!’ And then here’s an original story, not ‘ruining’ any of your precious existing characters, and yet you still scream. No one is making you watch it if you don’t want to. But the fact that you’re mad that women and people of color exist, is telling.

Looks so good. What a shame that mainly after 0 promotion it´s gonna get cancelled and removed. Like every other show you don´t give a damn about.
Joining the legions of Orla fans lauding this trailer. First thought was “I SAID Orla should get her own show.”

Holy shit Frank Dillane is in this! Is he playing two characters? Dude was so good in Fear the Walking Dead and Essex Serpent and looks great in this, like playing a funny character. I’ll be giving it a shot, hope it’s good!

Looks cool. My wife and I will give this a try. But, Disney+ has a tendency to cancel most of its show after the first season, never letting the series build an audience, which is kind of frustrating.

Wouldn't be the same without Katherine Kellgren narrating....
SO AGREED
Fun fact: I thought this was going to have something to do with the real-life journalist Nellie Bly. I may not have gotten what I expected, but I like what I got instead!
Is this based on something? Nice to see something more original for adults on Disney+.
So she's probably not a real person, they're sort of doing a magical, mythical spin on highwaymen like Pirates of the Caribbean.
Looks Predictable

*Today was the day I found out this show existed and also cancelled.*
*Another show that wasn't advertised, couldn't meet Disney's absurdly high rating expectations (but how could it if it wasn't advertised?) and subsequently cancelled.*
*And you've got the nerve to complain about piracy. Why should we pay you when you don't meet your end of the bargain? These days, to find a show that survives long enough to reach the story's conclusion is so rare. And that is because of streaming services.*
I can tell she's going to be joining the ranks of my favorite badass Disney women, alongside Elastigirl, Ember Lumen, She-Hulk, The Marvels, Black Widow, Rey Skywalker, Queen Elsa, Anne Boonchuy, Luz Noceda, and Kim Possible.
I would not consider She-Hulk a "badass" because her physical confrontations either lasted barely a handful of seconds or the opponents had no chance of winning at all.
Arnold S as a Terminator could still be bested by humans with the proper ingenuity. When was She-Hulk ever in any real jeopardy?

I am watching and loving The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin on Apple+, this seems like a worthy companion.
Watched first episode…. It’s actually quite good.
Now watched all of is and I really like it
The whole cast of Derry Girls is great but she was definitely the standout. Really excited to see her in more stuff.
I am really enjoying this series!
Well, that is how Disney has conditioned us. They have been pushing their political and social agenda for years now. It’s only become more brazen as of late. So, we expect every female lead to be another lesson is white male hating, DEI pushing trash.
‘The Messaging’ has become a psychotic obsession with Disney! Never giving them my money again!

And then they DARED to cancel season 2.....
Did they cancel season 2? Heard the show got a rare early renewal, but then again it's Disney. Bob Iger loves to cancel everything not named Star Wars or Marvel, then delete it off the service for tax purposes. So they can cement Disney+ status as the babysitting channel. And Bob wonders why they can't find new subscribers...
@BenderDaOffenda yes they have, there is even a petition to make a season 2 cause disney thought it didn't meet their popularity expectations....
@@GaiaRich Yeah saw the articles of the show getting cancelled after making that post of mine. Sucks but not surprising. Unless you're Star Wars and Marvel, Disney will cancel you then delete you off their platform for tax purposes.
Will good luck in trying to get it renewaled. At the current rate, I'm just hoping another streaming platform at least picks up the deleted shows to air them. Not even a new season, just legally watch them.
And again, Iger wonders why he can't get new Disney+ subscribers when he's constantly doing sh!t like this.
