Nadia's performance was very graceful because it was in continuous motion with no pauses even before the dismount. Compare her performance to today's gymnasts who would take long pauses before attempt tricky maneuvers and dismounts.
For anyone questioning her abilities in today's gymnastics...please feel free to duplicate this routine. Not a wobble or a bobble and show the same beauty and grace... I can think of more difficult routines obviously, but not one who can replicate tho one!!
it takes alot of practice to get to the show. I did gymnastics as a kid and worked for a long time to put together a routine like that. It takes a good memory, excellent vision, strength and balance to do a backflip on a beam. it is not easy

I LOVE NADIA...she’s a Wonderful Human Being as well... that deep concentration and strength has a lot of Scorpio in her which helps make her intense and private on one hand, but she Soars like an Eagle, the best kind of Scorpio
I'm not even sure anyone was paying as much attention to the gymnast who was doing the floor routine as they were to Nadia's impeccable performance on the BB. She clearly stole everyone's show.
@@krinka1915 Well they didn't have much joy in their lives other than nadia at the time which seemed to make life some what bearable as a result of being distracted by her gymnastic presence on an international level that took their minds of the communist bolshevik regime that they lived under at the height of communism. But they are somewhat in denial of this communist past today to the extend of unacknowledgement of it which reflects a blind ignorance of it. !

É cravada, porém repousando no solo como uma pluma delicada, e não como um tijolo (vide a maioria das ginastas atuais). Detalhes que contam pontos e por isso que Nádia é na Nádia, o 10 absoluto, enquanto as outras, por melhores que sejam, nunca chegarão nesse grau de perfeição. This is superb! There's a lot of artistry, gracefulness, and fluidity in her performance which is lacking in today's gymnastics wherein it's all about strength, muscles, and acrobatics. 😢
What I loved was that a young female Romanian gymnast came along and not only set new standards in virtually all gymnastics apparatus but completely stole show and medal haul from the Russians. And when you look back, Nadia's routines are flawless.
je viens de voir aujourd'hui les exercices a la poutre des championnats du monde de gymnastique 2022.. j'ai remarqué une certaine lourdeur et lenteur des concurrentes dans l'accomplissement de chaque geste...je me suis souvenu de la performance de Nadia Comaneci aux JO de Montreal et je l'ai cherché sur UA-cam..Vraiment elle avait été fantastique et phénoménale.. Une grande différence de maitrise ,de classe et d'élégance entre elles et les gymnastes actuelles...
it surprises me always how each gesture has its own architecture: a beginning, a middle and an end. Korbut is also the mistress of this. today's routines lack this sort of mime. the choreographers and coaches today would do well to incorporate these qualities into the routines today.

Not the complete answer, maybe, but Nadia certainly was the first of quite a few Romanians who treated beam as the proverbial walk in the park.

The sport has changed. It is no longer the same since the revolution of olga Korbut and Nadia Comaneci. This means there will never be another Nadia. This will never happen again.
How beautiful are Nadia and Olga - the true geniuses of this sport. The balance beam has gotten so boring - all one hears is thud,, thud, thud! The elegance, dance, grace, and limberness of the athletes - sacrificed to heaving backwards in thuds. Sure, they land the moves, but it's not what the beam was created for. 2012 - let's go back to the Olgas and Nadia's of the sport.
She doesn't shake or do the crazy arm movements that you see gymnasts do nowadays to cover up any possible flaws. Although I'm not a gymnast, this routine is so beautiful to watch.

When Nadia came to my country on exhibition (1982) they actually performed on beam with piano music, there was a pianist there, it was really nice because his music really followed the moves. The problem is how to manage the lapse if the gymnast wobbles heavily or falls off, I guess it would be impossible to use orchestrated music in that context
They just had this recently for the 2019 Worlds in Stuttgart, check out the beam final. You can hear the soft piano playing while they perform. It’s really a nice touch and should continue in my opinion.
i love that there is no gap meaning like stopping for a few seconds then moving to the next move like lots of gymnast nowadays...she connects every move routines gracefully
Nadia is my all-time favorite! She moves quickly & spritely & femininely. Notice how other gymnasts after her, like May Lou Retner etc. all copy how she poses when she lands with arms stretched backwards.

Definately. The same can be said of ice skating. They focus so much on technical stuff and lose the flow and grace. Nadia was the absolute best on the beam. No one comes close.
Some of the elements had not been done on the beam in competition before, like the aerial to back handspring so its relative when speaking of difficulty and she mailed every one.
