5:06, dude that is all in all an 50/50 nice Tutorial. Most specifically how to set up the Refueling in the Editor...that's neat, but the flying part is useless, sorry. But having no Wind set up in the Mission and Wake turbulence turned off is a no go for a Tutorial in DCS as it is a night/day difference to Windy Conditions at 26000 feet and Wake turbulence activated. It would have pushed and twisted you around as you closed in from behind the Tanker, and the basket would not have gotten caught as easy as you did it. Try it again. And if you manage to refuel with all these Conditions, then I´ll also like your Video.
Wake turbulence in dcs is not realistic, and just a pain in the ass, so i leave it off. And besides, its off by default, which is how most new players will play. And yes you are right, the wind does make it more difficult, but the principles are the same. And the good thing about dcs is that we can set the winds to whatever we want to achieve the degree of realism and fun we want. And additionally, its hard enough to learn the basics and get them down well without winds, and it is a better idea to learn the basic skills to do it before you add more layers of difficulty with high winds
@vern43 on the HSI (the map page, basically, defaults to the center mfcd) on the top left side after you enter/turn on the tacan, there should be some text that says TCN, if you press the button next to it, it should put a box around the TCN text, and then display the navigation info to the tacan station on your hud
If u started DCS before u open the trackir software, u have to go into controls and click “rescan devices” so it detects ur trackir headset clip (idk if this works with the reflector that u put on the brim of a cap, bc That isnt plugged into ur pc so isn’t a “device”)
@@__Whisper__ that WORKED..........tks, I use the IR head set. BTW I found the best way to plug in is, put the pod at the top of the hud dont look at the basket, creep FWD untill it connects, i can plug everytime , but cant stay their...
Glad that worked! Yep thats exactly what ur supposed to do to plug! Staying there is definitely tricky, just takes practice tho and small control and throttle inputs
Nice video. I find this tanker by far the hardest one to use. Especially when refueling with the right basket. Until now I never used the rudders when refueling, I will give it a try!
Nice video. If the tanker is going 300 how fast would you go to make contact
Once you are cleared to contact the basket, you usually want to approach at about 2-3kts closure rate
THANKS@@__Whisper__

How do you FIND the tanker with the TSCAN ? I have not seen a video
input the tacan channel, and press ON (in the hornet) and then press the osb next to TCN on the hsi page
@@__Whisper__ I know how to enter it on the tacan but you lost me on the osb next to the tcn on the hsi
thanks for replying

@@__Whisper__ ok I will try that , thanks

@guesswhoiscomingtodinner interesting, i find this tanker the easiest lol, ig its just what ur used to. Good luck with the practice!
Try with an S3…
I hate using the s3 lol i find it so much harder
@@__Whisper__ after one of the latest updates with the shorter basket I'm unable to refuel from the S-3. It is actually reported as bug in DCS forum
@guiduz3469 hmm i’ll have to try it and see if i get the bug too. Hopefully they fix it in the next update
