The irony here....this is certainly Donaggio's best and one of the most beautiful movie themes ever written.......for one of the most shocking and suspenseful who-done-its ever made.... by the great Brian DePalma.
I couldn't agree more. I was kind of thinking this and your comment came up first. To me at least, it is like laughter at a funeral. The music attempts to take you in one direction and the plot in another. I think the difference in contrast between the two is what yields such emotional discord. The intro to the movie Carrie is similar. You don't expect what happens. It somehow sets you up for one thing and delivers something else.
DePalma's movies are GREAT, but Dressed To Kill is not as crisp, tight, suspenseful or gratifying as most of his others. Dressed To Kill gets a B-minus, sorry.
One of my Favorites. I would play it while lounging by the pool. And when my friends would ask me where this came from, they were always be in disbelief that it was the opening theme to one of the scariest film at the time.
Such a fantastically beautiful piece of music; romantic and aching and lush. Not many composers working today would be ballsy enough to write music like this. It's too bad that this kind of music has become "outdated" in most film scoring circles. While I enjoy many of today's film scores, the 70's and 80's were absolutely filled with fantastic scores from brilliant composers.
One of the main reasons I loved some of Brian De Palma's movies were the excellent music by Ennio Moricconne or Pino Donaggio . I think the music also makes the movies memorable after so many years
dinaggio composed/wrote "Io Che Non Vivo Senza Te" in Italian which went onto to become Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me," one of the prettiest and most popular songs ever written...this theme is absolutely hauntingly beautiful...the combo of DePalma and Dinaggio is...genius
I was 17 y.old when i seen this film and still today i rememering this beatifull song even i hadn,t still made love lisyening to it with a beatifull Angie or Angel in a backside taxi.Time never will pased out listening this and dreaming awake in this sad pandemic world
Early 1990s. After I had watched "Don't Look Now", "Dressed to Kill", "Blow Out", I went to Germany's biggest record shop and asked if any Pino Donaggio scores exist on CD. The sales person had never heard about someone of this name.
Excelente.
I remember being a young whipper snapper watching this movie. I used to always rewind that shower scene!😛 Didn’t understand the movie at that age ( 7yrs old ) but I understand it now.
Halma. En fin recuerdos. Qe perdudaran e tiernamente saludos❤️🌹💖💋
that scene when she opens the desk drawer and finds the health department notice made me gasp when I first saw it… still gives me chills today. this movie captures the last days of the swinging ‘70s… total time capsule of 1980 NYC.
Brilliant film and brilliant music I was only 10 when this masterpiece came to our screens so only discovered it not long ago but I've always wanted to watch it ,can't quite cope with our lovely Michael Caine such a horrible murdererx

This and the theme from Carrie.

Yes. The juxtaposition of the music here and the shocking and horrifying events in the film's storyline is ingenious and marvelous.
DePalma's movies are GREAT, but Dressed To Kill is not as crisp, tight, suspenseful or gratifying as most of his others. Dressed To Kill gets a B-minus, sorry.
Stunning..Pino Donaggio scored some of the most beautiful music for films i've ever heard..
Steven Norman Agreed. He manages to make a lot of his film scores beautiful but with an underlying evil sound to them as well. Love it.
@@MrGIJuu yes!!

That was same feel I felt when I saw Mr.michael caine as a negative role dressed as blonde.Your expression was very 👍
The opening of this film is very reminiscent of Carrie's opening. Very beautiful song!
Homecoming brought me here! Amazing soundtrack selection.
what a beautiful score to this Brian de Palma film done by the brilliant composer Pino Donaggio thank you for having it for the listening
Saw this movie for the first time in ages. Just love this score.
The music is out of this world !
The ultimate shower song! Thank you, Pino!

Romantic, aching and lush... PhantomClone, you hit the nail on the head with beautiful and deadly accuracy.
🤔 Yes ☆ Class of '83 here. 🎬 🎼

The museum sequence music is also a masterpiece
One of the main reasons I loved some of Brian De Palma's movies were the excellent music by Ennio Moricconne or Pino Donaggio .
I think the music also makes the movies memorable after so many years
This song is so beautiful just like "The Theme from Carrie." All the death in the movie and when you get then ending credits you hear this?? hahaha
I know, right?
Happy 92nd Birthday, Angie!! 9-30-31 You and this beautiful soothing shower theme will always go hand in hand!! 😊
One of the sexiest women ever. And I'm a gay guy!
@@baconbap I get that. I'm straight but I could watch certain actors all day long

So beautiful, and haunting.
Beautiful song. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love this soundtrack to this Brian de Palma film thank you UA-cam for having it here for the listening
Excelente.
Aaaah, sheer beautiful.
I love this song since I've heard it for the first time years ago in De Palma's Dressed to Kill. Nice to hear it again in Homecoming.
Pino's music in this film is only topped by his score of another DePalma masterpiece. BLOWOUT.
altro capolavoro del maestro donaggio
This piece, still represents love, making love, romance--the whole lot!
absolutely beautiful!
Homecoming bringing back the memories.
great soundtrack. pino is the man.
Gorgeous!
Sublime....🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶
Bravo Pino, da sempre !
Magistral película, y magistral BSO

Pino also composed the music for "Obsession" and "Carrie".One of the last of the great film music composers.
John Webb Obsession was scored by Bernard Herrmann.
It's De Palma movie's Emotion.
Lovely tune. I've been searching for this for years. Thanks for posting it!!
My mom loved this movie… but especially the music to it!
The movie was a thriller ,but the soundtrack was the best!!! Good movie 🎥
GREAT FILM AND MUSIC
One of the stars of this movie was definitely the score
Gorgeous.
Bellissimo!
Toller Thriller und sehr schöner Soundtrack
This movie 1st touch 1986.
I can't forgot start scene.never~never~
yet another iconic shower scene
Thanks for this great theme!
just love that music1
This gorgeous music is right up there with (or EXCEEDS) Jerry Goldsmith's theme from Poltergeist. Just BEAUTIFUL.

lovely comment
Every time I hear this, I always think about Angie Dickinson’s character catching a VD.

what a beautiful and lovely phases you wrote
Superbe i love DONAGGIO
THE GUY S JUST BRIL.
PARIS
You might wanna also check out the ost of the Italian tv series Don Matteo which has some beautiful music composed by Pino Donaggio
Pino composed Carrie but it was Bernard Herrman who composed Obsession.
Brilliant film and brilliant music I was only 10 when this masterpiece came to our screens so only discovered it not long ago but I've always wanted to watch it ,can't quite cope with our lovely Michael Caine such a horrible murdererx
Happy Birthday Pino Donaggio (November 24)
very nice
Such a creepy and unnerving opening scene and theme.
Angie Dickinson
🌺🌷🌹
Splendida musica
¿Ennio morricone inspiration?
Pino Donaggio was one of the best soundtrack composers ,but he was underrated and forgotten.
true words....so I'm looking forward to what Pino has composed for Brian de Palma's new film...premiering early september in Venice :-)
Tema conduttore splendido, Donaggio troppo sottovalutato

@calciumkid85 mine is the Carrie 1976 theme, it's absolutely beautiful yet sad
Amazing, beautiful theme... obviously influenced by Morricone
i`ll always associate this theme with the sound of the shower, at the start

Brian and Pino is the best duo before James Cameron and James Horner
