I have always been impressed with the way Ryan Leslie has grown his fortune and fame outside of mainstream eyes. I loved his idea of gathering and building a loyal following and those people are the ones who support you forever. He gave the blue print for social media and valuing your audience
I first heard of him in 2009 when he filmed himself making "Valentine" and i was hooked few years later in 2012 i spoke to him from a facebook conversation cuz i felt he was selling out by not doing R&B anymore and doing hip hop in 2012 and he seen my comment and asked me for my number and we spoke for like 10 min it was a incredible call and something i ll never forget!!

Ryan leslie is the quotient that lets you know the music industry isn't about talent, competency, nor know how - this man gave me life, and an anchor in college in 2009 - seeing him at summer stage in ny was life changing and a core memory - and what more can be said about his youtube production viedeos which still are unprecendeted precedents of multi hypnetic genius - he literally, for a kid from the hood, taught us it was cool to be smart - long before kanye called himself a genius, and years into thug and BET culture - he never hit rock bottom, he pivoted - its clear noone above 25 wrote this script nor title - for theyve clearly not yet learned what we al learn around 30 - which is there is a dissonance between financial freedom and fame, and that one can be financially free without being a media darling - while navigating a monopilized industry that feared and feels threatened by indpedent thinkers - ryan leslie is to the music industry what Dapper Dan was to the fashion industry during the 90s - if you know, you, know.
I wish he'd go back to singing and talking about love. I think more people can relate to finding and falling in love than rapping about private jets and to Germany. Still blown away by his ability to evolve with tech and business.
indeed. isley brothers sung about the same topic, love, for like 60 years and are still doing it. and they've been flying in private jets and making millions the entire time. but when people get rich, they tend to isolate themselves around other rich people so they lose touch with the world. instead of talking about managing wealth, we as a people need our wealthy/successful people to do their part to help our neighborhoods/innercity schools. guys like leslie represent 1% of our race. we're only 12% of the country, yet all our rich people refuse to invest in black neighborhoods. we dont rent homes from black people, we dont have black stores, or any black businesses in our own neighborhoods. yet these guys want to talk about being wealth managers? how about you guys who are wealthy move back to the inner-city black neighborhoods so that your tax dollars can go towards making the schools better? the streets better? invest in the homes in the hood..invest in the stores...live amongst your people so that they can see positive influences instead of gangsters/gangs. respect to Leslie, but these guys can do way more important work than talking about wealth management.
That 'sometimes' studio session is crazyyy. He made a party outta that session. They all GOOD, but this 1 just hit different. You can feel the vibe he gives off in the studio. And talented as hell.
Facts...but. If anybody tries to sell you into a "mentorship" program, run. Mentors don't charge. Use that money for investing after you get FREE education from books, researching online or at the library.
came across his addiction studio video 15 years late but man..watching that 5x over and seeing the grit and joy he had creating a monstrosity of a record from SCRATCH is infatuating. I'm over here try figure out when his next album is..going through his old catalog..watching interviews. You don't have to be a fan of music to gravitate towards him. CHARISMA! "It's Impossible"
Real talk. Make the money work for you is something I always tell people. Its not the amount of money you make, its what you do with the money you make.
I'm a big fan of Ryan Leslie. His music is fire, and he's immensely talented. But I'm always skeptical of these “wealth managing gurus.” Red flag. He did mention the S&P. . . and that's the best route for most folks. Invest there or some Blue Chip companies that you believe (after some research) will produce a decent return in the mid/longterm.
Me too. I've seen this movie before. Sounds like a new hustle. Black influencers are late to this course, mastermind, live event model that most credible white influencers pioneered, been on and then got off the past 5 years or so. They got off cause of white scammers destroying the reputation of the business model. Now Blacks inflluencers are on it. What happened to his tech product? I don't doubt he's making money trading. Nothing wrong with switching lanes. But this let me teach my people the game and the play is a concern. Here is the dead give away that this is NOT smart for the Sway citizens to do. He is a MUSIC PRODUCER. His expertise is music. His 10K hours of expertise is in music. Sure he's a prodigy. Sure he's likely skilled in many areas. But this seems to be a bit random. Lately it seems to be the play for entertainers who aren't making bread off music anymore to find fresh ways to "monetize their audience." Also, another dead giveaway to smoke out these new Black community "let me teach you how to be rich like white people" gurus is they don't have investment series 7 or 63 license? Why would I pay someone (a music producer prodigy) that kind of money who don't even have these basic licenses? That would be more convincing in proposing a course and showing yourself to be different than the those caught scamming us. Thanks Tracy G for asking that hard question And his answer was NOT convincing, Sounded like the same ole...pay me to teach you to become rich---but do your own research cause I can't be held liable if you lose money. He would have had my attention if he would have shown me his license. That would have shown me he's serious about becoming an educator in this space. Go sit for these licenses. Basically, we are paying for access to him to get info we can get for free off UA-cam. Or just enroll in a college Finance course for equal or less money you'd pay him to learn about financial markets. You could likely go to wallstreet and find a day trader and say I'll pay you 100 buck an hour to teach me how to trade. That would be a better and wiser investment than paying Ryan who does NOT have a track record of success as a trader...a few successful trades are not impressive or enough to teach others for the price he's charging. Go find someone whose doing this and learn directly from them. They'd likely appreciate your hunger and teach you for free. I wouldn't even pay that kind of money to someone with a license. I'm going to pay you over several thousand dollars for you to mentor me. Then the other red flag is you are marketing to a Black Hip Hop audience who DO NOT have that kind of money. What they going to invest with? If you don't need the money, you can still mentor and charge a more affordable fee and limit the # of people to accommodate your bandwidth to work one on one. Why do they always come to these audiences to market these expensive wealth building programs Im sorry Ryan Don't trust this. I'm so sick of this crap.. If your heart is for the people and you don't need the money and you really want to teach the people,...GIVE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AWAY.
