Why is it “surprising” that a dual screen device is thinner than a MacBook Pro? Look at the MacBooks lid… if the MacBook did away with a keyboard it would probably be quite a bit thinner than it already is.
As a Mac user, that Lenovo computer is hella cool. That's actually exactly the computer I wanted 20 years ago when I was a kid. I remember my sister had a computer kinda similar where the display could spin and fold down so you could write on it. That laptop was ahead of its time.

Lenovo builds some sturdy, quality laptops. While mine is not a 360 hinge, it has been knocked down by my kids several times and taken quite a lot of hits. Has two bent corners, but it is still holding strong!
It may be my age but I need a good keyboard above all else when it comes to using a computer and this just isn’t there yet. Maybe someday. Glad they are doing it though to move things forward.
Excellent video. Apple MacBooks engineering and build quality are excellent, but what the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i highlights, is MacBook UI is beginning to feel legacy. Imagine a MacBook Pro with dual touch screesn, but with the underlying performance and power efficiency of Apple silicon. It would be an amazing tool for video content creators, music producers and coders. There are even some use cases for gamers. Apple needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Our kids are growing up with touch screen Chromebooks and Tablets, and they will increasing expect computers in their working life to have touch displays with flexible UI setups to support their varied workflows.
You hit the nail on the head with your ending sentence! My 9 year old asks why my laptop screen isn't touchscreen lol! The new generations will absolutely have increasingly higher expectations, and apple can offer so much more- especially considering the cost compared to competitors.
Definitely some interesting ideas with that dual-display. I just wonder if, after the initial, "that's cool", if the cool features just become gimmicks that don't get used, but then you still have the downsides
Well, everything is very personal, but imho: a. 360 hinge -- a huge yes. Dunno how, but i find myself opening MBP16 fully all the time and it's still not enough and i crave for a bigger angle; b. portability is always a plus; c. laptop-tablet in one combination -- as a product designer i definitely appreciate this. Again, another -- additional -- score to Lenovo's portability; d. two-display setup in such a tiny body -- just incredible. Especially for a digital nomad. I still believe, it would not be that comfortable, as 16+32" displays, but still a great option on-the-go. And what are the downsides (for an average user and an IT professional as a designer, for example: a. less battery life, but seems to be enough for a day; b. less computing power, but seems to be enough for all of my purposes, really. Even the pro-related stuff: c. sound is not that great, but seems to be ok for an occasional call. Still using a BT headset all the time, even in the office. To sum up: i'd take this Lenovo instead of my lately purchased MBP16, really.

Been using my Yogabook C390 since 2018. It's traveled all over the US, France, Istanbul and London. I only just now damaged it this year after my cat dropped it on concrete a few months ago and even then, there's just a crack in the e-ink screen. So far the only thing J miss about Apple is the battery life and by the time I stopped using that brand, battery life wasn't what it used to be anyway.
in my experience lenovo builds their products extremely well. Mine from 2019 has been knocked over while open, dropped several feet, taken hits by my kids etc. While it does now have 2 bent corners after so much abuse, I am surprised it is still running flawlessly.
I've been using a 2-in-1 laptop as my daily driver for 3 years now. I will never go back to the traditional laptop form. There are so many times when you just want to look and navigate with a swipe. Getting that keyboard and trackpad out of the way is fantastic. As a musician, having two side-by-side 2.8K screens would mean I'd never have to use a paper score ever again. It's a folio-sized book at that point.
there is no comparison between the two, totally different groups of people they appeal to. So I wouldn't do a comparison video per say , but its good for basic use. but dual display is double the finger print magnet! Keep the content coming brother, love what yall do here!
I can just see myself: 1. Getting fascinated by changing around the config at first. 2. When the excitement wears off, quickly get tired of faffing around and carrying around an extra keyboard all the time and end up using it on its own. 3. After that, quickly get sick of not having a hardware keyboard as soon as I open the damn thing, and sell it off.
As a professional who is always on the move finally can have a laptop with dual screens. Carrying a separate monitor with all the cables takes space, weight in your backpack and cables do break down, and all this it’s annoying and trying after a while. It’s still underpowered for the price you pay, put here you pay for the convenience
This laptop has potential! Customisable keyboard design. 3D Touch maybe in the future. One ginormous trackpad. Drawing board. I’m excited to see what it can become
There are two stands in the box, only one reviewer has caught that. The black piece in the box. The rotation lock is not accessible. If you lay flat on the table, it will default landscape. If you want portrait, the gyro has to have a tilt if you don't override to portrait by setting it in display settings. I think that's why you get two stands.
Having previously purchased an 'innovative' windows machine before... I can confirm it's more hassle (in the case of a Surface Pro) than a normal laptop which I switched back to. This Lenovo gives me that same kind of cool but cumbersome vibe.
I have to buy one of these Dual-Screen Laptops! I don't think Yoga Book 9i is good even for general use because the battery is really bad, I have to put it in charge every 6 hours after uses and sometimes the battery is goes down by itself

The Lenovo did compromise on performance even though it seems to be made for creatives but yet it lacks the dedicated horsepower to perform as such. And that's the only one thing that's put me off from getting this laptop, I hope in the next iteration they increase the performance with a top end CPU and a dedicated GPU, the price increase as expected and as it should but these missing features is what it needs to be the one to be all, do all laptop. I hope, really really hope, they increase its capabilities performance internally, externally it's perfect.
I think for most of the people would be really hard to get use to. If they would have add a type of 3D Touch like the iPhone where you receive a feedback like if you are pressing the keys in real life, it would have been amazing.
Apparently this laptop does in fact have haptic feedback on the screen keyboard and the click buttons for the trackpad! He probably didn't have it activated in this video.

I don't understand why this video compares Yoga Book with 14" workstation and not M2 MacBook Air, that said, dual-screen really does seem more like a gimmick, but it would be interesting to see some kind of "tube-dock" to join/mount two iPads and use them similar ways - maybe that's something Apple could think about?
it's an excellent video, Clearly a better value than the Mac, of course true fanboys disagree but that's what Fanboys do. The actual balance breaks down like so, The Mac, value is better for creators. The Lenovo far better value over all and certainly for presenters and non-gamers You made one mistake, it must be your microphone, because everybody in my room thought the Lenovo blew the doors off of the Mac for sound. Just check out the comments in here, so many insecure Mac fans about this dual screen laptop. I love MacBooks, but I can give credit where it's due, I'm not loyal to any brand, I am loyal to myself.
I've been using the YB C390 since 2018 and need a new one. I'm actually debating between buying this new version or going back to the MBA. I actually prefer Windows as it allows more ways to customize, but I'm concerned about this device's battery life. Sigh...

Why wouldn't you want to have another great OLED screen and the ability to be portable and super productive in the go. Only downsides to me for the Yoga Book are I wish it was 14 to 15 inches and wish it had a micro SD card slot.
I can already imagine having to tip toe around that keyboard and trackpad. Either to avoid accidental touches or fingerprint smudges. 😂 Newest macbook's trackpad and keyboard are unbeatable.
I'm missing this rending tests you guys would do. I want to see these Macs again the highest end windows laptops with 4090s and Intel 13 Gen and the new AMD processors
I've seen a lot of ideas like this on other similar laptops, like ones from Samsung. It is really interesting and I would like to test it, but to change from the form factor I've used my whole life, it seems hard.
Looks slick, but that digital keyboard instead of an actual tactile keyboard is a hard no for me! Now… that vertical dual screen setup is super slick! I would be more likely to use it like that than anything. The screen looks amazing, but the glare on the second screen is distracting from the video on the top screen.
Nice video, but honestly at the end, if I would be a regular user, I would go with the M1 Macbook Air and maybe with an ipad for the second display, but regular users don't need two screens. It would be best to stick with long lasting battery, excellent keyboard and functionality of the M1 Macbook Air..and also the price :D
great innovation but it chews through battery. my MacBook Air gets 18 hours battery, easily lasts two days without having to charge and you don't have to carry around a separate keyboard, better to have a physical one built in.
13:23 what gaming? also that leanovo can run many titles like overwatch 2 and valorant and even call of duty infinite warfare the MacBook have nothing to do with this stuff
I loathe Windows with a passion (30+y Apple and Unix/Linux veteran here), but for somebody who doesn't or is forced to use it, this machine looks like a great alternative. If only this thing would run as a Hackintosh or Linux laptop without loss of functionality...
Looks absolutely stunning but living and travelling with it would be a nightmare. I’m scared enough of scratching / cracking one screen. I can easily imagine forgetting what the keyboard was and closing the laptop to cause all sorts of accidental damage. Also more bits to carry in a bag when travelling means more things to get lost / damaged.
I used to have a surface pro. I went through three or four cracked screens. Thing was as fragile as a purple haired feminist with an eating disorder. I swear that screen cracked if you looked at it with a mean face. When traveling durability matters MUCH.
The dell xps 15 9520 with oled display has the best speakers!!! Destroying the apples speaker's 100%... I compared them with a new MacBook pro 2023 16 inch and the dell's speakers were louder and with deeper bass!!! Also much better than XPS 17 series!!! The 9520 has unbelievable speakers!!!
They need to get a keyboard and trackpad combo, not just an external keyboard. Why not cover the whole of bottom part with a larger keyboard plus trackpad.
I’d love to see Apple make a case for the iPad that turns it into a device like the Lenovo. Apple makes truly outstanding touch screens and also has utterly fantastic Haptic Touch technology which would make a virtual keyboard on the bottom display work very well. Add to that Apple Pencil support and it would be such a cool device.
Looks more like an advertisement for the Lenovo than a comparison. But i did find the sound better on the Lenovo or is that distorted because of the video? But the webcam on the Lenovo make a person look pale compared to a person on the MacBook
Must be expensive, then there is the learning curve for Windows 11. I hear they are coming out with Windows 12. I'm used to Windows desktops, last Dell desktop I had came with Windows 7 pro with 2T hard drive. My friend/lawyer has an Lenovo laptop, but basic one. He got me the 13.6 M2 MacBook Air, but I did want the 14 inch pro. I wanted to sink with my iPhone 13 Pro, which would have been a hassle with the Lenovo.
I rarely comment on products, but I had to speak up about Lenovo's new device. While it looks nice, I'm a tactile typist and don't want to carry an extra keyboard. Typing on glass is horrible when you have to type a lot. My biggest concern is what third-party developers are taking advantage of this form factor. I'd rather stick with a Mac. Keep up the good work, though.
Ergonomics of traditional clamshell laptops have always been questionable. In use, the keyboard and trackpad must be low for typing with the display high for viewing, causing some physical strain. Weight/size versus port availability has been another tradeoff. If the laptop is one's primary computer, the solution for all this has been to run it closed when possible, connected to external display, keyboard, mouse and port expansion. Of course, desktops are not an option when battery-powered mobility is needed; but modern tablets offer performance, mobility and ergonomics that may challenge the best traditional laptop designs. Lenova's Yoga Book 9i is interesting from a marketing perspective, but is it really just an iPad on the desk, connected to a second small external monitor? Will Lenovo's entry motivate Apple to reconsider porting MacOS onto a future M3 iPad and offering a mobile second display option? I do however find the Lenovo pretty compelling.
He said 9i is designed for general use and not for professional productivity. MBP is designed for PRO users and for professional productivity IT'S NOT A MATCH I liked its design of 9i btw. I wish something like Snapdragon 8cx Gen 4 can compete against more than M1 Pro at least
0:01 Traditional laptops will never die, once you actually understand that enterprise industry exists and that Apple is literally a dog in that space. You’ll understand that windows PC and laptop will never go away. I’m a network infrastructure engineer, and our and the majority of every successful businesses estate is primarily Windows, why’s? try adding macOS to Azure AD, Most of the features and things that relate to PROPER WORK not bullshit video editing and marketing but more enterprise workloads, all done with windows, or something that will require Azure joined machines. Now you can add Apple devices but they’re a pain in the ass. MacBooks are good, very good I even have an M1 16” MBP, I love it, would I ever use it for actual functional work? Fuck no.
I’m good on a touch screen keyboard really don’t see the point of it would like a touchscreen mac at some point though… but I’m definitely getting that monitor!

I've seen a lot of ideas like this on other similar laptops, like ones from Samsung. It is really interesting and I would like to test it, but to change from the form factor I've used my whole life, it seems hard.
I’m getting this if my iPad Pro 12.9 with Magic Keyboard gets accidentally run over by my car
Like I know this is the comparison of the 2 but as I watch along every feature he did with the lenovo Yoga, my inner voice just scream " SOLD "
great innovation but it chews through battery. my MacBook Air gets 18 hours battery, easily lasts two days without having to charge and you don't have to carry around a separate keyboard, better to have a physical one built in.
No one buys the dual s reen in order to compare to a Mac. You get this for productivity on the go, and you don't need it for computational power
Will both displays work when reading a book with the kindle app? Will it drive an external display? How many?
Looks really pretty until you slam the screen down forgetting that you’ve put a physical keyboard on top of that pretty screen.
13:23 what gaming?
also that leanovo can run many titles like overwatch 2 and valorant and even call of duty infinite warfare
the MacBook have nothing to do with this stuff
Book 9i i think best suited for my kind of jobs: future trading and investment business. I plan on getting it someday.
are you going to compare the Slim pro 9i to the Macbook?
They need to get a keyboard and trackpad combo, not just an external keyboard. Why not cover the whole of bottom part with a larger keyboard plus trackpad.
If you place the keypad on the upper half of the bottom display the track pad is visible. Don't know why max tech didn't show this feature.
There is way to much going on with that Lenovo. I like where they’re going with this but I see broken screens for days.
Awesome haircut. It really suits you. Also, I’m very excited for Apple EVENT 🤩🤩
Damn! I was thinking of getting an ipad pro... not sure now,
I’d love to see Apple make a case for the iPad that turns it into a device like the Lenovo.
Where is the battery comparison?😅
what is the Folio Stand angle?
Somehow I can't help but think the success/failure of the Touch Bar speaks for itself...
Awesome review
Must be expensive, then there is the learning curve for Windows 11. I hear they are coming out with Windows 12. I'm used to Windows desktops, last Dell desktop I had came with Windows 7 pro with 2T hard drive. My friend/lawyer has an Lenovo laptop, but basic one. He got me the 13.6 M2 MacBook Air, but I did want the 14 inch pro. I wanted to sink with my iPhone 13 Pro, which would have been a hassle with the Lenovo.
So…Curious, there was no plugged in benchmarks on the Lenovo, might of done a little better there
Professional photography and light gaming recommendations? For this laptop anyone?
I guess its missing the key word "lap". That contraption would suck in your lap Bruh
How's the fan noise?
He said 9i is designed for general use and not for professional productivity. MBP is designed for PRO users and for professional productivity
IT'S NOT A MATCH
I liked its design of 9i btw.
I love that Lenovo takes risks and does wild things like this, just as much as I love that Apple does not.
I thought i could video edit till i saw the benchmarks at the end 😢😢😢 macbook air could be a better choice
I like the MacBook has more performance
The fact these two are similar prices
I would have a macbook and this thing together..
While I do like the desktop configurations of this with the stand, it just looks gimmicky to me.
Touch keyboards suck. As Steve Jobs said, keyboard and trackpad are areas you do not want to mess with.
Lenovo did a great job on idea and flexibility and its software, better than most windows laptops!
You better compare lenovo yoga/slim pro 9i vs mac pro 14 and then see the result
