I know, right? But he was sensible enough to show us how to rearrange the logs, use some extra kindling, and blow on it. So he smothered it, but he saved it too. And all new kit is a learning curve... he did fine for his out-of-the-box test.
Yeah I wanted to test it with a massive load due to the extra airflow. Maybe used too much LOL you learn as you go with new things...Now you know LOL You're welcome LOL
My partner bought one of these for me as a birthday gift.. Two years ago, as he knows I loves me a nice fire when we go camping 🏕. I can honestly say it's one of my favourite things ever. I have just bought a larger one as I've used it that much ( even in the garden at home) that I've burnt a hole in the mesh. The large one is a lot taller and the mesh is 22inch ( the smaller one is 16.5inch). It all collapses down into a small bag just the same, and as a bonus it has 2 mesh liners in it, making it even more of a bargain.
If you brought this hiking in wet weather it would be money to dry your boots and socks out underneath - would also help you keep your tinder dry when actually starting the fire. 2lbs is a hard sell for most hikers these days though; good thing I consider it a nature rucking! Great channel, keep up the awesome work!
great review ! just about to order 2 ! for me and one for my boys ! amazing for winter camping as the pits are always filled with snow , and for the beach ! thx !
I've seen a few vids about this product. All of them looked impressive enough for me to buy one for our bike trip next month. Looks like it's gonna be an excellent purchase for only $15.
i too was skeptical when i first saw it on amazon. it was on sale for $30 so i said what the hell. Been using a few months now and couldnt be happier for price i paid
Just got mine today, figured I UA-cam if anyone has reviewed this... yea, I know that’s doing it backwards lol! Bottom line, great presentation and I’m glad I bought. Although mine came relatively compact cute, your box was longer. Thanks for the share.
That's a pretty cool idea 👍. Don't know if I'd bother w/one but it might make for a good way to move fire around camp. Bring it w/u to the edge of the water while fishin maybe? Take fire over to ur buddies tent?
Awsome 🤩! I was a Scout all through the 80's and miss having a fire. That was ine of the best things about backpacking and camping 🏕🔥🏞🛶. Hopefully we can have fires again 😁.
Next, try bring only the mesh. For it to be ultraweight. Maybe we use our tent stake or twigs and stake 4 of it to the ground to hold the mesh 4 courners.
It’s pretty cool although I think I’d like to see if it can be improved a little with some kind of candle holding attachment you can place underneath Incase the firewood was not dry.
Nice to see with the style of this fire you can pack the logs so close, you can put the big logs on the bottom for embers. They got one now on Amazon that compacts down to 1/3 of the size as this one when portable bc the steel legs interconnect and break apart to pack away. I think the pack dimensions are 9x4 inches. This one is 16.5 inches square they are soon making them in 22 and 28 inches square. Btw can this be used with a ferro rod I heard it can’t bc the steel mesh?
I take it you're talking about the Skyemac stove. That little thing is awesome. Definitely more practical for longer trips. This would be amazing for winter camping tho
Looks good, packs down small, works well, BUT BUT BUT it burnt through the mesh in only two uses !! Talking to others they have had the same problem. Especially along where the mesh is folded before rolling into bag. Mesh gets hot and breaks along fold. not therefore very robust.
Some places have these damned steel fire rings that you are required to use! The fire is in a hole and doesn't get enough air! Put one of these in the ring and you'll get a better burning fire and more heat! Be great everywhere else, too!
Nice fire pit, but you used small pieces of wood instead of building to get a good bed of coals to keep to keep the fire going to burn those large logs
Yeah I wanted to see how it worked with straight up large logs right out of the gate. Worked incredible, when you build a fire normally it’s INSANE how well it burns
I was pretty skeptical about this product when you first introduced it. But suprised at how well it held up on the first use. I'm quite curious to see the long term results. Also pretty excited to see all the new stuff you filmed. Caught the glimpses of the footage in the outro.
English is clearly not the instruction writer’s strong suit. As far as the logs going out-you made a gigantic jump in fuel size! No smaller sticks, just tinder to logs without kindling. Given the burn speed it really exacerbated the issue. Much faster burn speed.
I have gotten this wood to ignite on just the fire starter I used alone in the past, the issue wasn't the heat source, it was a fuel to air mixture problem.
I like your videos, but I guess when you were a kid you didn't become a Boy Scout. The logs are too big at that point. It still looks like it works pretty good.
the problem with something like this is it doesn't keep coals from falling out on the ground. One of the main purposes of a fire pan/fire pit is to not make a big mess on the ground and to "leave no trace". River runners for years have been required to use a fire pan with at least a 3 in. lip to keep beaches clean. Seems the general public is finally catching on and now all these overly engineered spendy items are hitting the market when all you really need is a simple steel galvanized utility pan that they sell at any hardware store. See my vids for a much better option.
Why the hell would you need one of these?? Just make a normal camp fire and cover it up when your done. Maybe I have just never been anywhere that it would ever be useful.
Muddy or snowy weather. On stone areas where you're not allowed to start a fire. Also a way to move a fire from one area to another (under a tree for example if raining).. or closer to your friends if moving about.
I have been using a $6 steel utility pan for over 30 years. Lightweight and contains your fire better than this unit. Check out my vids. to see how I do it.
Nope not a single one…🥴 Learn to listen bud…I added full logs to start it, to see if the increased ability for extreme airflow would let you start a fire without kindling…guess what it worked. Learn to listen before commenting lol

How long do ya have to wait till it cools down to restore in backpack?
Sorry u tested it at the end nice it cools off quick nice product
This is the most Honest review I have ever seen Bravo Sir !
Maybe go up slowly in wood sizes instead of kindling then tree trunks 😂
I know, right? But he was sensible enough to show us how to rearrange the logs, use some extra kindling, and blow on it. So he smothered it, but he saved it too. And all new kit is a learning curve... he did fine for his out-of-the-box test.

Awesome review. I was skeptical about these when they first came out. Not any more. Thanks G
My pleasure, yeah I was very happy with it's performance.
Surprisingly that worked very well. I didn’t think it had a chance. I like stuff that surprises me for the better.

You burned a hole through the mesh? Seriously?
If you brought this hiking in wet weather it would be money to dry your boots and socks out underneath - would also help you keep your tinder dry when actually starting the fire. 2lbs is a hard sell for most hikers these days though; good thing I consider it a nature rucking! Absolutely agree! Thank you for the ideas and support, hope to see you in future comment sections. Welcome to GY6outdoors
great review ! just about to order 2 ! for me and one for my boys ! amazing for winter camping as the pits are always filled with snow , and for the beach ! thx !
What happens when you use this for aong time? Fire gets hot maby let the mesh rust and break it?
Still going strong years later
@@GY6outdoors okay thank you
I saw this fire stand in Yuru Camp
I've seen a few vids about this product. All of them looked impressive enough for me to buy one for our bike trip next month. Looks like it's gonna be an excellent purchase for only $15.
Hope you enjoy it!
i too was skeptical when i first saw it on amazon. it was on sale for $30 so i said what the hell. Been using a few months now and couldnt be happier for price i paid
Looks like a better alternative to the bulky fire pit I use while camping.
What gloves are you using?
could you tell us if after one year the mesh still holds?
Still good so far, no issues
No we have to replace the screen after one camping season already.
Don’t lie!
the mesh even cools down quick
yeah shockingly fast!
They have 2 sizes, which one is this? Size of the mesh please? Thanks for the video.
This is the small size
Just got mine today, figured I UA-cam if anyone has reviewed this... yea, I know that’s doing it backwards lol! Bottom line, great presentation and I’m glad I bought. Although mine came relatively compact cute, your box was longer. Thanks for the share.

Thorough review, just what I am looking for. But it's out of stock, obviously it's a great recommendation.
Great review, mine got delivered today £17 English pounds, and can't wait to use it.
Im still loving mine after a year
Thanks for the great review seems really good value and hopefully lasts.
so far still great!
That's a pretty cool idea 👍. Don't know if I'd bother w/one but it might make for a good way to move fire around camp. Bring it w/u to the edge of the water while fishin maybe? Take fire over to ur buddies tent?

hahaha Yeah I'm not risking that LOL
Cool stuff...done purchased
Enjoy it
I am thinking of getting one of these. How has it been using it for a year? Thank you
Running very strong still zero issues, minus a few stray wires that I just snipped
Screen only lasted one camping season, needs replacement already. We camp alot tho
*This episode is* 🔥
I couldn't help myself
LOL 🍻
You should build the small fire on top of the logs, it then burns down and it wouldn't smoke out.
How would this do on a windy day???
I hope that the mesh doesn't contain asbestos, that would make it very unhealthy...Do you maybe know the composition of the mesh?
Haha, thank you for this. You are funny!
It’s pretty cool although I think I’d like to see if it can be improved a little with some kind of candle holding attachment you can place underneath Incase the firewood was not dry.
It would be cool if you could put a foil pack under the mesh on the legs and have it cook
Good idea 👍!
Great review! Keep em coming!
Thank you. Much more coming

@@ianstiehl1994 idk there’s a whole bunch of them with different weird names
It’s easy to protect the base of a fire pit with a layer of wet sand/earth etc.
Yes, but "Not Leaving a Trace" when you're in the outdoors is the issue this resolves.
You can cook off this right?
You can cook on any coals but you might need to rig a stand up.
If you take that to a campground, I wonder if they would let you use that instead of a fire ring?
Some have! They mainly want a contained fire that will not leave a burn mark on the ground
Looks good, packs down small, works well, BUT BUT BUT it burnt through the mesh in only two uses !!
Talking to others they have had the same problem. Especially along where the mesh is folded before rolling into bag. Mesh gets hot and breaks along fold. not therefore very robust.
I haven’t had an issue yet. Maybe it’s a cheaper knock off version🤔

Very true.
I really like your reviews that you do, thank you and I hope you keep doing them..!!
Thank you! Yes MUCH MORE COMING
3:07 ive watched like 30 times laughing my ass off... subscribed
I'm dead😂☠
Nice fire pit, but you used small pieces of wood instead of building to get a good bed of coals to keep to keep the fire going to burn those large logs
as I stated in the video, wanted to see how the extra ventilation would help keep larger logs going without tinder.
Idk where youre from but you should come to montana....
Thorough review, Thank you
Not bad for 30 bones
Very nice!
I can't believe you packed all those logs on there without batoning and working up to size. Its not a chimney fireplace huh.
Yeah I wanted to see how it worked with straight up large logs right out of the gate. Worked incredible, when you build a fire normally it’s INSANE how well it burns
HINT:...wrap a tator up in butter and foil...place it under the screen in the lil cross section
honestly nearly ZERO HEAT radiates down there...cool to the touch
You get a like for dumping the coals out. 😋
I needed to see if this thing is worth the money.. 3 mins in i new you were gonna put it through its trials
I was pretty skeptical about this product when you first introduced it. But suprised at how well it held up on the first use. I'm quite curious to see the long term results. Also pretty excited to see all the new stuff you filmed. Caught the glimpses of the footage in the outro.
Thank you. yeah it's pretty impressive and works VERY WELL. I can't wait to show everyone as well.
Good Shit!
Give it a few fires and there will be holes, but for a cheap price its ok.
Many years later…still working fine
Very Cool product Andrew !!!!! I thought it was going to be a POS product.
So did I LOL I was wrong
The next bear grilles or however you spell his last name
Nice drinking with drew should of been the title jk I got me some lagunitas Waldos special 11.7 beer yeeee

Didn’t hear me talk about the reason for the log size in the video did ya…guess when you were a kid you didn’t learn to listen.
I see this video was from two years ago. Did you continue using the item and how did it hold up?
Slit some of those logs

you should have a bucket of water or put sand over the top at the end to show responsibility to these simple minded children please and thank you.
that's Smokey's Job...
😂🔥
