I've never made any other paper airplane in my life, but I once got it to stay aloft for around 3 minutes (with strong wind, admittedly), until it landed on the roof of a building. It is possible to launch it from far away if you gently throw it, speed just messes it up.

Also, some planes have different flight patterns with your throw angles. Not all planes will fly perfect at 0 degrees, keep that in mind. Don't forget, some planes fly better with negative flight angles from eye level. I consider this test a very biased due to the shapes of the wings.

Yea I'm sad they don't have the throwing techniques down. I had a plastic cylinder one that we used to play catch with and we stood at least 20m apart, I think it claimed to go up to 60m if you threw it right.
Love this video, it reminded me of how making a paper airplane was my finale in my computer college class. My professor thought since we did so much work for the semester that we needed a fun finale. As long as it flew we passed and the one the was the farthest got extra 10 extra credit points lol

I would like to know in your next video, what type of paper boat design floats the longest. Does boiling hot water or freezing cold water affect how a paper boat floats. Try various types of paper such as toilet paper, newspaper, glossy paper and standard writing paper. Please try that experiment because I am curious to see the results.
It's all in how you throw them. My son did a science project on paper airplanes a few years ago and a lot of those designs you guys made should make it to that wall. You have to throw with finess.

One thing to take note is how you throw them. Some glider planes tend to work better the softer and straight forward you throw them while others work best with a lot of force such as the dart one. There are also some glider-type ones that will flip and "flutter" when you throw them at an upward angle. Obviously they won't go far, but they are very graceful and enjoyable to watch

Best ones I've ever flown: Nakamura Lock featured in a Klutz Press book, Super Hawk from The Ultimate Paper Airplane by Richard Kline and Edmond Hui's Paperang. The Nakamura Lock is the easiest but the other two fly amazingly after perfecting your folding and tuning skills.
A lot of people believe in "personal Heavens", but if "personal Hells" were a thing then Calli's would be a room filled with really cool things that couldn't be caught on fire lol

I've had a lot of success with the square. The thing about the square is that it depends entirely on updrafts. So it's great to toss from a height in an auditorium or stadium and hope it catches one. Once it does, in such a big space, it just kinda cruises from one updraft to the next.
The trick is to have the elevators angled slightly up, and to throw them toward the ground. That way they arc up until they stall, fall down nose first, arc up again until they stall, etc.
