Hi there, what kind of cake recipe are you using please? Every thing I try keeps sticking to the mold regardless of how much spray I use in advance. It's very frustrating. Thanks.
Thanks for this great idea ! I'd love to see a video of you cutting the cakes so we can see how you cut through the chocolate & see what the inside of the cake looks like. PS. Nice to hear an Aussie accent! :)
Hi UA-camr, I will do that. Normally, the cakes I make on these tutorials I give them to family and friends just to avoid wasting. But to cut through chocolate cased cake, you have to have your knife sitting in a glass on boiled water for about 10 seconds to get the blade hot, then it slicing and melts the chocolate layers beautifully. I will soon make a tutorial just to show you.
Hi There! I was wondering how you removed the chocolate from the large rose mould? The one that i needed was the one you didn't show lol.. I've tried several times and it keeps breaking. Help pls! TIA.
Hi Bella, the shimmer powder is available at cake decorating shops. I love the roklem brand shimmer dusts. You can can get any colour. Pearl, pink, gold , red ,silver...so many beautiful shimmery dusts...
What if we just crush the cake after baking them in regular moulds and then add the crumbled cake in the chocolate mould. Just like cakesickles? Do u think it would work
Hie...i tried making one today...and the choclate kept melting once i got it out of the silicone base...while adding stuff into the cake for a smash....it came out so nice but then melted whr i touched with hands...also it didnt harden as well as i see on videos...... How can i harden the chocolate for a perfect smash? Please help!
Yes couldnt agree more. Those powders make everything look professional. Every cake decorating store will have them. Roklem powders is my favourite brand.
Hi, I cant add links on the post but search for professional silicone cake moulds on ebay and they should appear. If you still struggle inbox me through facebook or instagram and Ill help through there..
😂😂😂 That's exactly what I did!!! I actually have a tutorial coming very soon using these moulds - a very different and unusual thing, but it might be worth a watch 😅
yes chocolate shatters when you cut it. But if you leave your knife in a large cup filled with kettle boiled hot water for about 20seconds it heats the blade and when you use the hot blade it will give you a very smooth cut as the heat very quickly melts the chocolate. lots of videos you see on Facebook and youtube the knife has been heated thats how they get the smooth cut...
So for the powder. You spray non stick spray on the top of the chocolate mold and then just brush the powder with the brush ? You don't need to infuse it with vodka or lemon juice ??
Hi Linda, i purchased the moulds from eBay. Search for professional silicone moulds and they should come up. The dust was from my cake decoarting shop its a shimmer range from roklem. Check online or with local cake decorating shop..
Well if you bake the cake in the silicone mould then you should get a perfect fit but if you bake the cake on a sheet pan then use the mould to outline the shape then cut a little more off so gives enough room for ganache or buttercream...
Hi Lina, I know its 1 year later and maybe useless now, but maybe someone else may also read this in the future and can help them too. Normally, to colour chocolate black, you would be better off to start with dark or milk chocolate because it's already brown. You won't need much black food and colour powder to get it to black. If you're using white chocolate, then you will need a lot of black food colour powder to keep whisking through.
Hi Tatjana, No, you can bake cakes in them too. Most silicone moulds are over safe, so when you have baked your cake, you can cover with fondant. The detailing will not be as precise as using chocolate, but if you save you from craving and shaping.
Tempered chocolate. If you dont know how to temper your chocolate I have a full tutorial on my channel or you can use compound chocolate. Compound chocolate does not require tempering and I do have a tutorial explaining compound chocolate.
hi Herlinda, i have the links to my instagram and Facebook page on my youtube cover can you message me through either.. and I can send the screenshot...thank you 💖
I didnt understand that? if you want like a runny soft chocolate then instead of a ganache make or use a store bought chocolate sauce. Or just make a rim of ganache then fill the centre with ganache with a higher cream ratio that way it will not firm up?
The only thing I can think of it that maybe you haven't tempered your chocolate? if you dont know how to temper chocolate I would NEVER attempt it on this mould as a first try. Use a compound chocolate. Actually tell me what chocolate you are using?

Wow, great idea. I was going to glaze the cake with a ganache but i think this idea is nicer! thank you

I wish you would have cut one of the cakes open so we could see the inside and how the chocolate shell holds up when you cut it.

Do you grease your silicon mold before baking the cake??
Yes I always use Bakels non stick spray. Its my favourite.
@@ItsAPieceOfCake do you use the spray before adding the chocolate?
@@glennawblack3557 you shouldn't need to use spray for chocolate
Looking very very nice!
I have one question though: Isn't it hard to cut the cake when there are two layers of hard chocolate around it?
yes chocolate shatters when you cut it. So these moulds only work on chocolate exterior-cakes?

What chocolate do you have to use for it to be so shiny? This video was fab 👍
It's regular chocolate, but it came out shiny because she tempered it properly
Thank you for the lovely reply, Arctic 💙

Hello. Could you please tell me what powder is that? Thank you!
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I use americolour powder to colour my chocolate and roklem powder to dust the chocolate.
This is nice! What do you put with the chocolate to stay melted even after cutting it, plz?
I didnt understand that? if you want like a runny soft chocolate then instead of a ganache make or use a store bought chocolate sauce. Or just make a rim of ganache then fill the centre with ganache with a higher cream ratio that way it will not firm up?
How hard is it to cut thru though?
If you place your knife in a cup of hot water for about 7 seconds the blade will get hot then slice very smoothly.
I've tried it 3 times & I gave a hard time separating the Chocolate from the mould. Any suggestions? I'm using the exact heart diamond mould
The only thing I can think of it that maybe you haven't tempered your chocolate? if you dont know how to temper chocolate I would NEVER attempt it on this mould as a first try.
